We are a family of 5 living in Michigan! Here on my channel I share grocery hauls, day-in-the-life’s, budgeting tips, healthy lifestyle and so much more! Thank you for joining us here🙌🏻
Hi Megan, great staffing as always 😊 How do you decide what bills denominations to get from the bank? Also, what do you staff “RU-vid” envelope for? How are the things going with exchange student - did you find it to be more expensive due to adding one person to the budget? I assume utilities and food go up. Thanks, always a pleasure to watch you 🧡
Thanks so much for watching! I use the RU-vid envelope to buy things for specific videos I want to make. I keep it separate for tax purposes😊 Our exchange student is going very well! So far expenses have stay about the same but we already have 5 people so adding one more isn’t that much.
Agree 100% on your Costco love/hate. Every single time the start to carry something new that I buy every time I go, it disappears eventually. Why must they do that? Argh. Going to try those chicken bites! I'm always so leary of precooked chicken packages like that because more often than not, they are majority junk meat. Those will be so handy. And the cheddar puff things, going to try those too. Thanks!
I normally do not like prepackaged, cooked chicken of any sort but I really really like these and I just don’t think about the price🤦🏻♀️ Get the cheese puffs now because they will be going away since I love them😂
Love that you are using real food. I see so many of these videos where people just have tons of processed food… which is fine… but it’s not how I cook. I would make meals very similar to this so thank you for the inspiration!
@meganross for sure, our grocery budget is $300 a month excluding the $ for Costco for 2 senior citizens. August, I went way over budget for the first month. I appreciate all the ideas/tricks to stay in budget.
I meant to follow up and see if you liked the good culture… it’s my favorite! I went to CC yesterday and they still had it, but maybe your CC ran out of the batch! I agree about it being too bad, esp if you have a high volume turnover at your store, bc I think Costco just negotiates with companies for a single batch order on most things. The when they are gone they are gone. 😢 We have a love/hate relationship too. But it’s still mostly love for us. 😂
I really enjoyed this video! I would love to know where you buy all your budgeting tools. I know you mentioned where you got your binders from, but where did you get your other tools from? That calculator is really pretty! Thank you!
Thank you! I will try this. I like to add Dots to my Chex Mix blend. Another thanks for pointing out the expense of butter. I've also cut back and will cut with corn, veg oil, a small amount of butter goes along way. I've also saved bacon fat, use it to grease down pans for baking and in recipes; adds another level of flavor!
@@amandasienko2254 she will be with us for the entire school year and I’ve known since last Christmas that she would be coming so I planned to budget the same amount for her as I did for the rest of the family💙
I mostly spend money on food (groceries and restaurants). I also have my phone bill and streaming services RU-vid membership of Kwingsletsplays/occasional Twitch subscriptions. I highly suggest Frndly TV, just for the channels MeTV and MeTV Toons. I wish that Disney+ had more of the old Disney Channel shows other than Disney Afternoon and Adventures in Wonderland. Well, The Roku Channel had My Little Pony gen 1 and gen 2 last time I checked l, Tubi had Nelvana Care Bears and GazeboTV has Avonlea, however, the episodes are expensive even though the app is free.
Where did you get those wallets? I like the idea of using the envelopes, but have become lazy and dependent on using the debit card. Your video inspires me to do the envelopes again.
Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad my video helped you😊 I LOVE the aesthetic dollar’s budgeting products. She is on Instagram and has a website. I’ve loved everything I’ve gotten from her. I made my envelopes because I wanted them customized and they can be pricey to get them customized😊
Do you have a video on how you decide how much to put in each envelope each time? Do you just budget for a category and then divide by the amount of time you have to save? For example, on this video I noticed you started saving for next year's school athletic pass and added $6.00. Have you divided the cost of the pass by 52 weeks? Thank you! I came to your channel for the haul videos and stayed for the envelope stuffing videos! 🙂
Thanks so much for watching! My husband and I use Dave Ramsey’s app called Every Dollar to budget out our month. We’ve always used the free version and it works great. I cash stuff twice a month(unless it’s a magic month) because that’s how often my husband gets paid. Lots of those sinking funds categories, I’ve taken the total amount I want to have for it to be fully funded and divided it by the number of cash stuffings I will be doing. Hope that helps!
I don’t have a specific video on it but I would say it takes a couple of months to get into a good routine and build up the amounts in your envelopes. A great way to kick start this system is by doing a No Spend or Low Spend month to set yourself up well. In the beginning of any new budgeting system, it takes delayed gratification to be able build up the amounts in your envelopes. I’ve been delaying all of these household purchases for months and months because I didn’t have the money in the envelope😊
@@meganross Thank you! Yes delayed gratification would definitely be of benefit. I need to see if we are really not making enough with our one income or is it just spending/not having enough but buying and figuring it out later. Most of our money goes to groceries so I don't know how I would build up many envelopes but you don't know until you try.
@@mjmc4me very true! Having a written budget is key. It takes a couple of months of writing everything down to get the hang of it. We follow Dave Ramsey’s method and it’s super helpful! You can find his podcasts which are super helpful😊
@@meganross Yes we were doing Dave Ramsey budget but lately I just put everything into groceries because of costing so much and needing more in there. I do need to really sit down and look at it more.
@@ericksonsails I usually keep sides super simple. A fruit and vegetable usually and if I plan out a side, it goes on my meal plan list to make sure I have the ingredients for it. 😊
I just check them off once I make the recipe. I look at the calendar each week to see what’s coming/who will be home for dinner and then I choose. I will also switch it the day of if something comes up and I need an easier dinner or I can spend more time in the kitchen because we are all unexpectedly home at the same time😊
@@jessicaleibret8772we have our emergency fund in our checking account so I don’t ever have to worry about being one month ahead and having enough cash in our checking account until payday😊
