Another good video - love the drone update👍 You have plenty to keep you busy - forecast looking good for next week - at last! 👍 Hope that new Massey is still delivering the goods? 🙂
That’s the trouble with farming you can’t stop just because you are under the weather all the jobs still keep coming and animals still need feeding. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi you are not far from me, the weather here in cornwall has been very up and down. As regards to the new government, any change backwards in anyway will not be good. I am finding grass now, a bit tight now my self as well.
It has been a good mower, had it new in 05 or 06. Has had a couple of new saucers that it runs on as they wore out and a set of belts but otherwise has been reliable and cuts nice.
Knee high by the 4th of July, an American adage from years gone by and still stands today, this year in Wisconsin anyone who planted early the corn/maize was indeed taller than that but then the weather turned for the worst which made planting very late, going to be knee high approximately middle of July which is rare, haymaking here is a real challenge as well, two fine days then two days thunderstorms, some including myself have still not been able to cut our first crop yet!
The maize has caught up now and lots of crops looking pretty good, be interesting to see how it turns out and what the cob/kernel size is like at harvest. I'm glad we don't have to rely solely on making hay, we have only been able to do as much as we have because of wrapping the bales.
I've got a random questions do you ever get bit by horseflies at all when we're out walking in the Cornish countryside we get quite a bit do you have this problem being a farmer
Well with the wet winter we had and up and down spring, the crops up in East Sussex looked really good. I bet you had interesting time! With these herbal leys, How long to you get out of them before you have to plough them out?
It was really interesting to get away and see something a bit different, a very nice part of the country. These are the first herbal leys we have planted but hoping to get three years before we plough them. Think we will have to be careful we don't overgraze them in the winter with the sheep.
Got the same baler, on 45500 bales, looked at the blocks on the latches and they are shot, new ones on order, have wondered why have had to have tension set higher than we used too. A Cornish farmer helping someone over the border, thanks!
They are pretty good simple balers really, I seem to learn something new about it every year! Glad I was able to help and it was useful. Hope your baler is making better bales now.
Good news it all worked 👍 When u use the brake to stop can you change from forward to reverse without the clutch? I managed to do some hay baled today (Saturday )
Personally, I would carry on in "Manual mode" for the rest of the season & worry about it when you have baled the last bale. You could always do a test with some straw, if you wanted.
It was good to be able to still use it in manual mode but nice to have it working properly again. I think I will send the old circuit board off to be fixed during the winter so I have a spare as they are prone to failing!
Bloody balers lol, we doubled up on round balers this year thinking we could get on quicker, (we only make hay) all we did was double up the damn problems, along with that the weather is not being very cooperative so at the end of the day, if we had a 100 balers we still wouldn’t be able to bale a single bale🙄😂
I know, I was swearing about the baler. I was talking to someone the other day and he was saying the same about his baler and he keeps his fingers crossed every time he take it out of the shed.
The clear plastic is good, not ever had any problems, been using it for 10 years now I think. Seem to fix one oil leak on the quick coupler and another one starts, not bad leaks but annoying all the same.
If the baler operates in manual surely must be a sensor sticking effecting the auto sequence as you let bale out it’s tripping it self again. Least you carry on baling! I’ve had no end of leaks on our quickie spool block with flat face couplers, which they went back to the old 1/2 standard ones
I had some very good advice from AGCO baler specialist who had worked for Welger previously and he knew what the problem was, just a shame it was such an expensive fix. Its good to know that AGCO have good parts and service backup for Welger balers. Hopefully they can get the oil leaks fixed, so far it's fix one and then another one starts.
We prefer it because you can see through it, we sell hosome bales for horse feed and when delivered with the plastic on the risk of selling something with mould on is much reduced. Have been using it for 10 years now and not had any problems.
Great video Andrew, hope you get your baler back in action,we took our baler this winter and had the dealer go through it whichever they did a good job but the bill was 5,ooo thousand dollars so I guess not too bad,I price a McHale baler and it was 90,000 thousand dollars,if they keep that kind of price up I will probably go to a contractor, anyway I we enjoy your new Massey tractor thanks for the update have a blessed evening
I also had that problem it's a right bugger but i found in from the back the scrapers were bent so the grass was going around the rotor usually the end one's have a look at them Nice new holland and mchale baler 👍👍
Great video Andrew, seeing the blue and red tractors reminds me of the days we dairy farm,my dad had a Ford and grandfather had the Massey Ferguson, the guy in the New Holland,is that the same gentleman that helps you spread muck, and if so maybe we could interview him on his tractor, don’t worry I not jumping the fence on you I am still a Massey Man,just like to hear about the modern tractor of today, thanks again have a blessed evening
Thank you, yes he also helps with the much spreading and cleaning out the cattle sheds to speed things up. Will try and show his tractor a bit more closely on a future video.
