Wilfred Owen is among the greatest poets/writers in the history of mankind. It is very sad that he was taken so painfully earlier in his life.Surely this God gifted artist would have gone on to contribute so much more to the literary world..
Umms are not only annoying but shows whether true or not that you’re not educated in whatever topic you’re talking about, so instead of rejecting another’s constructive criticism maybe work on it bc you’re not perfect.
@@bendobendo you sound like a bit hc dude, its constructive criticism bc of his response to the other comment which at the time only had 2 response. Theres no need cry about it, as you can see bro took it well and as intended

@@chrisgodberartist I don't have ability with edits, but yesterday a have a dream with the poatan's ascension over adesanya with 180db_(130) playing in the background. Can you make this real?
I see a lot of myself in you, though I'm still early in this video, stopped to sign in and sub back. I just want to say that I was a lone wolf only until I realized I'm just a bear. Bears do bears things. Wolves do wolf things. Sometimes, you find them side by side. Just a thought to ponder, young man. :)
Yeah It's just an archetype I identify with at times. I would say a mental mode of being if I had to put it into words. I find all this animism interesting to look into for sure. Thanks for your comment.
I actually don't mind this at all. I find it, rightly or wrongly, quite relaxing, Chris. As I have recommended to you before, Jean Michel Jarre's first electronic composition 'La Cage' ( The Cage ) from 1969, you might like to listen to. Keep well, friend! Enjoy the good times, endure the bad times.
Hey I just want to let you know I liked and subscribed but I also want to throw out some constructive criticism or maybe just my own personal preference but the music in the background could be turned down a little bit but besides that I think we are interested in many of the same things and crew them similarly so keep it up!
Hey Chris. Thanks for the video. I personally am an AI optimist. However I agree with you in many areas you covered in this video. First, let's say that the AI interview is just crap and nothing more. Let's get rid of this shit. Second, I am also afraid of the job losses. I am from an EU country with quite high taxes and I see what a problem it is to even have enough retirement income for our citizens. So an idea of UBI is nice, but I can imagine many problems with it. That said, I am still optimistic. Mainly because of the advancements in science AI is and will bring. As of now, most universities still don't take this for of AI seriously (I am currently in last year of masters degree in applied math with focus on data science so I experience this first hand). I can imagine longevity treatments and disease cures to have exponential improvements. In science, I like what Steven Wolfram says about AI. He is very focused on the possibilities of AI basically exploring new theorems in math which we humans would never even consider... So I see the corporate crap as a byproduct and necessary means of improving our society - they are the ones who make it possible because of their greed. Society as of now is in a really bad state and basically we are just waiting for russia or some other country to attack us / start nuclear war or something. I do not like this and I hope that AI can help change this... Help change how government works and get rid of dictators for good.
Great comment will take some time to think about some of the points you've made. I have a lot of cognitive dissonance on AI / ML. Probably the thing that worries me most about it is the warnings coming from so many of the innovators about the current approach to it - going full speed without guardrails etc
Yeah not entirely convinced UBI is the best solution but not sure if there is a better option too. Guess it could create more jobs but from a lot of the messaging and self directed research I've been doing it seems if agents are as powerful as claimed it will make most conventual office jobs redundant. There is also the good side of this potentially as automation could free up our time outside of work to have more time to pursue our own passions, family life etc too so there is that outcome maybe, but that outcome depends on a mature response from various nation states, tech companies etc and its not an especially stable time for a huge technological shift too with the geopolitical instability and wars etc
Chris, do you ever find it awkward to try and easily sum yourself up as to what you do? Computer programmer, artist, and writer. Just to busy oneself in one of these subjects is enough for a lot of people. Enjoy your varied interests! But never be sad, you have achieved so much so far!
@@chrisgodberartist Leonardo da Vinci wouldn't care less about summing himself up and he, as I'm sure you may know, was perhaps the most diversly talented person who has ever lived. He was an outstanding polymath just in his areas of scientific knowledge, let alone through inventions, painting, sculpture, architecture, engineering, cartography, music, writing, and philosophy.
This film is the perfect accompaniment to Pat Barkers Regeneration trilogy . And the movie of the same name. Sassoon was right when he described Wilfred Owen as ‘perhaps the greater poet’.
Chris, a degree in computer science is not easy. It is about the 6th hardest degree to get. I don't want to sound gay, and I am not creeping but I am really proud that I have a friend whose achieved a degree in computing. As well as being such a great writer and artist. Phew!!
I much prefer your more random messing on the piano you've done to this Chris! I think this is OK but the riff tends to repeat itself too much for me to like it as much as your other piano pieces. I like John Cage's piano work too.
I don't know if you can play the piano Chris in the slightest or whether this is just completely random messing, but I think it actually sounds very good! I much prefer it to today's rap and pop anyway.
I think that my favourite artworks that you have shown here, Chris, are the skull, the imp type figure ( Nostradamus? ) and 2 or 3 of the self portraits.
'Sassoon waited in vain for word from Owen, only to be told of his death several months later. The loss grieved Sassoon greatly, and he was never "able to accept that disappearance philosophically." [Sassoon, Siegfried: "Siegfried's Journey", p. 72, Faber and Faber, 1946.]... In his own account of his friendship with Owen, which appeared in his 1945 autobiography, Siegfried's Journey, Sassoon writes that Owen's death created "a chasm in my private existence" [Sassoon, Siegfried (1983). Siegfried's Journey (2nd ed.). London: Faber and Faber. p. 72.]'... 🖤🖤 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfred_Owen
If you don't mind me asking, Chris, do you ever read these books? I have collected many books but I am a really poor reader. I notice the book marks in your books are only partly through the books as if you read so much then feel the need to tell people about the book. However, even if you have just read the first chapter of Nietzsche's 'Beyond Good and Evil' that is far more than I have managed to do!
@@chrisgodberartist WOW!! I think if I remember rightly the book starts with questions, such as, what is man's will in this world? And what is the ultimate purpose of mankind? Questions like that anyway. The philosopher Montaigne said that maybe some of the tough philosophical thinking is beyond man's mind and that we shouldn't torture ourselves trying to solve some of the very hard philosophical questions. Lol! He also said that people should be far more open about their private parts and not be embarrassed about our natural bodily functions. "Every king's throne has his ass on it." He said. So no one is beyond the fact that we are human animals and not of any superiority as a human over anyone else.
Jonathan Miller made sculptures out of bits of metal but what he didn't say was that they are about anything. There is certainly nothing wrong in people using their own interpretation in art. Sometimes however like the paintings of Stephen Hough, I find the titles may suggest a mood or feeling but that is all. At a whole greater level Beethoven said that the titles of the movements to his 6th Symphony 'Pastoral' were merely to guide the listener in a direction as to what the music may depict but that it was not set in stone. I like this painting Chris. I find it has far more depth to it than some mediocre painting of someone's face by say an average A Level art student. I am not an authority on art in the slightest I know nothing about art whatsoever but I am willing to give my complete unknowing opinion for what it is worth. Every person's view matters! Well done, as I say I like this!
One of the most powerful moving endings of all time. I was devastated. My wife found it sad but couldn't quite understand my reaction. The poem was about a man for a man who'd experienced the joys of youth and blessed to be whole observing incredible loss. Davies will be missed. RIP.
