@@rockymountainsummits8257 yea, there may have been more snow then but there were no huts back then. It was a cold night sleeping on the glacier with a thin pad.
Probably my favorite mountain that’s visible out my backdoor. And I can see the entire northern San Juans! That summit is just so striking. Thanks for bringing us along!
Very cool website under utilized by me. Until this video I was unaware that there were 50 well err summits between me and Farrell Hill the undisputed monarch of Ohio west of the Scioto and south of I -70.
Ok, a few things. Great video. I look forward to a future 14er hike with Carrie carrying a chicken the whole way. Lastly, had you thrown a rock into that lake in front of the guy with a camera it would have been a huge jerk move but I’d have laughed pretty hard!!
My grandparents lived within sight of Lone Cone their entire time in Colorado. I can still see my grandfather early in the morning with his coffee and looking out the window at the mountain deep in thought.
LoJ can be super intimidating for the uninitiated. Thanks for this detailed look at the website. Definitely learned a few things. Also, my head almost exploded when the “little peak you pass on the way to work” is right out my front door haha
Great intro name and niche, my friends. This is well done and shot. We just put out our video from Zion National Park. It was an amazing experience in beautiful nature. Keep up the great content and adventures. We hope to see more and meet you on the road someday. - Bear
A couple of questions for you. What time of the year did you make this climb? Looks like it's not later than mid-July given the amount of snow still present? Second question. Why do you cut across the base of the mountain instead of just going up the northeast ridge which is more direct? We hope to be out there this summer. Thanks!
It was July 21st of a really heavy snow year. We probably could have done the northeast ridge, which is more direct as you pointed out, but I had read a few trip reports that said it has some challenging sections. The route we used had no reported issues, so it was just a choice to keep things as simple as possible. Looking at the NE ridge, it doesn't seem too bad.
@@rockymountainsummits8257 This actually helps a lot! Thanks. We are now flatlanders that climbed most of the 14'ers but that was over 30 years ago. This will be our first Colorado attempt since!
You folks are climbing up Butler Wash to get up to Comb Ridge. Next time you may want to explore the other side of Comb Ridge from the Comb Wash side of things. There are steps in the sandstone and other cool things.
Awesome Dan, too bad Carrie couldn’t make it. Still looks like a great trip and epic adventure! I’m impressed with the video quality / production, nice work!👍🏻
Well Sh*t the bed! Awesome video editing! Love the Intro! Loved the Hike! Love your Woman! ... *Wink Wink Nudge Nudge Say no More!* But for reals - awesome job brother! Happy Birthday! I think you need a closing line. Some saying at the end of the video to close it out.. Maybe something along the lines of "Stay Frosty" or "I love me some big peaks!" or.. "2 feet, 1 peak". Just a thought...
WOOO!! Nice!! Way to go!! I like how you had no idea how it was going to pan out but you did it anyway with an open mind! That's a life lesson right there! Never know how something is going to turn out, but you may as well give your best shot! Awesome job you two!
Great Job you two!! I love a rocky finish too! You know what I Like? All this Stuff you are doing! I don't know you, but i feel we are soul mates and we should hang out some time.
