Hello! My name is Kerrie Lee. I'm a visual artist and sculptor, and freelance puppet and props maker. I dabble in a lot of different arts and crafts here on RU-vid, but my life-long love is learning different ways to incorporate movement into my sculptures and dolls.

I am confused on how the puppet gets finished in the neck area. I see how you made the torso and how you draped the fur from torso to the base of the head. But how exactly does the neck come about? Is it simply the strap from torso to head with nothing but the strap? Your video looks very step by step and I feel like I can make this for my theatre groups show Annie Jr. But I am not grasping the neck area so any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!
Yes, it's just that strap used to connect the torso and the head and the fur that's draped around it to give the illusion of a neck. In a previous version of this puppet, I tried a more complex method using different sized rings/hoops to give more fullness to the neck, but in the end, the rings ended up collapsing on each other and the whole thing ended up working just like the strap! If I build another wolf puppet someday, I think I would try adding some foam or something to edge of the cement tubing to smooth the transition of the torso into the neck. When these puppets are moving, you can sometimes catch a glimpse of that sharp cardboard edge. I'd be interested in hearing what changes/improvements you make if you end up building something like these!

I purchased the book but I'm making a slightly different variation by making the head more proportional. Great idea about tracing the piece as one solid piece. Great idea.
This is amazing! I looooove wolves. Seeing this makes me wanna try this out or to even adapt your patterns into a costume somehow. I think that’d be really cool and fun.
what total length of the wire do you use for the doll. Thanks love this tutorial! I had made a doll per book instructions and her head wasn't stable. I think this will be a breeze.
