I just re-activated a book club I started for the work place & this book was our first read. Collectively we enjoyed the book & had many discussions about the characters & storyline. Personally I didn’t like Brooks character. She came off as very naive. Great book though! We’re now reading The Housemaid. 👍🏽
@@sunshineeflyy I liked it! I mean it was a typical romance formula, so some of it was predictable but all in all it was pretty solid. Although I must admit, I wanted to slap both Kaliya and Danny multiple times! 😂😂
Love, love, loved this book and the way it was written. Author did a great job of knitting these 3 in 1 books together. Held my interest and loved all the surprises.
@@Thriftyjasmine Listen!! This author has obviously had an experience or two where she probably wishes somebody would disappear. 🫣 She was going too hard!! 😂
I’m watching this video 2 years late but I just wrapped up this book! I enjoyed it, it was a good break for my brain. 🤣 there was definitely some depth missing and didn’t like how it ended! But i enjoyed the lightheartedness. Subscribed 💗
I agree that she did a great job of keeping us guessing throughout the book. The bombshell, however, was too unrealistic for me. Put yourself in the MOTHERS shoes. How did she not know? Even with the dementia. HOW DID SHE NOT KNOW?!?!
Thanks for your review. I didn’t love it. And I thought the text they got at the end was cryptic. It didn’t feel like a cliffhanger… it almost felt as if I messed something. :( I may need a Kennedy Ryan series to cleanse my palate.
Well, that sounded like a morbid story.😅 I thought the way you reviewed the book was really interesting. I simply cannot get into that kind of story with the title describing what the book is about. If it's implied and then I kind of find out while I am reading, I may have been into it. Nice video!
Her marrying her boss was a suprise , killing her mother was a suprise, but i never suspected she was in on setting her husband up and then defending him. Never would've guessed it.
I was just thinking that we see what miserable lives these women have as adults. They were most likely miserable teenagers, otherwise why would they become bullies? I thought the book had a good start and good ending, but the middle was too long and keeping track of the characters was confusing. I'm thinking that it needed better editing because it had a great premise.
@@AndreaMoonMusic They were definitely miserable! And why do the miserable ones always link up to spread their misery! Ugh! The premise was really good! I’m just wondering based on that ending did she go back to kill Ollie too since he was also a part of what went down?
I agree with all of your choices. I’ve never read Harry Potter, I couldn’t get into the vanishing half, never read Colleen Hoover but I sure loved Twilight. Although if the books just came out now I don’t know if I’d be as into them as I was back then? I am going to see if I can find you on goodreads because I think we have the same taste in books.
I was searching for a review on this book and so glad I came across yours. I just read this and I loved it. There is so much of it that made me emotional and I cried a few times. There is one thing that I was wondering about. The Jonathan guy..she knew who he was but he didn’t know her obviously so I wonder if somehow she had stayed in that other timeline would they have stayed together? I feel like I need to re read this because this story just captivated me and I was reading so fast to see how it was going to play out. I know your review is from 2 years ago so I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I figured I’d still comment
@@twmomie I’m searching for something to read similar to it and the closest I have come to is The two lives of Lydia Bird but it’s still not quite what I’m looking for. This was a really special one.
I'm obsessed with this book! Romance novel fanatic here 🤗stellar writing. I literally feel like I'm reading a movie. I love the way Judah is described he's a wonderful man and I love Soldads journey and self discovery after divorce. Almost finished reading, anxious to get to the end! This book has me up many wee hours of the morning reading, lol. Great read!💎 I need a hard copy of this book for collection, it's worth it! I'll definitely be getting all series 😊😊
Thanks for this review! I can NOT stand when these “5 star” reads are trash…and hidden books are gems! I’ll pick this up ALONG w A Love Song for Ricki Wilde😉
@@jadakiss228 🤣🤣🤣 Yes!!! I was so mad!! Like what is your problem this man has a basement with a padlock and he’s in love with you after two days!! 😫 But she definitely matched his crazy! 👀
Hi Tracie! Am currently listening to the audiobook. Struggling through it actually. All the back and forth 11 years. I think there was just a car accident. Anyway. I will press on. I'm looking forward to the ending now. Thanks for not giving too many spoilers! The 'proximity' egg is very intriguing. Thanks again!
@@tsunfleur There was A LOT of present and past in this book! It did get confusing at times. Please come back when you get to that twist! I want to know your thoughts.
@@twmomie Hi Tracie! I finished the audiobook. Umm, what!? That ending came out of nowhere and then the story just ended. 😔 I honestly have to relisten. Gus not being real? The cleft chin! WOW! And Bea! SMH. You just popped up on my stream. I'm going to have to go through your videos and see what other books you've reviewed that I've read or listened to. Nice meeting you. Thanks for responding 😎.
@@tammyparker1021 🤣 Sorry! I never give away the twists in stories but some people don’t like hearing ANYTHING that’s not on the blurb and unfortunately I got so passionate I did reveal a few details. 😫
@@SistaEvolving That ending was totally crazy and irrational! 😫 Like this is what was waiting for you at home and you were off doing what you did….why? That’s what made me so mad because I didn’t get her motivation. Did she know him before she rented the AirBnB? Was it revenge? Just insane!
I'm 79 % into this book and wanted to DNF it a couple of times. This far into the book I might as well finish it but I feel like I just don't CARE enough about what happens at this point, none of the characters are remotely likeable, I hope all of them go to jail, 😅. I'll edit this post one I fineshed the book, but right now I'm giving this a 3 to 3.5. Edit: okay, that plottwist around the 82% mark was really clever! I did NOT see that coming. I enjoyed the last 15 % oft the book and it made me change my thoughts on the characters and the whole plot (btw, I love what happens to the money). But overall, the ending did not make up for the fact, that I did not really enjoy the first 80-85 % of the book. So 3,75 stars from me.
@@juleh4592 It did move slow in the beginning and there were so many moving pieces that I was confused but I stuck with it because I had to know what was happening!! 😫🤣
I don't know if I'd say it's satire but that's mostly because I've read mystery thrillers with this tone before. They happen to be my faves. He Started It by Samantha Downing comes to mind. It also has mostly family drama and just ridiculously sarcastic and dramatic characters who are all douche bags but you like the story anyway. For your own good similarly has this kinda light tone even though it's actually dealing with heavy topics.
I just finished this in a single day. The ending was safe, I think but still satisfying. At some point, I stopped trying to figure it out and just enjoyed the story.
great review! i just finished this book today and i always search for reviews after i finish a read. this book was great for me as it got me to not want to put it down. i would find myself at work wondering what the next chapter would bring but it only got to that point after a good ways into the book. the beginning was so boring to me and their romantic fling was disgusting to me because i was infuriated that grace kept ignoring the red flags calvin gave off. the final twist was completely off for me and it felt like a quick way to end off the book but i will say i like that it resolved the mystery of why everyone in the town treated her like an outsider. throughout the whole book i was confused why everyone was so pressed that a woman would take a vacation alone as if that’s something that’s strange and odd but they could read that she had a lot of red flags herself. i wish that there were more subtle hints about how grace herself was dark and twisted. it really wasn’t a bad book but after i finished it i was upset with the ending and woulda rated it 2 stars, now after giving it some more thought after your review i’ll give it a 3 🤣
Yeah, that ending made NO sense!! 😫🤣 And they definitely go together too quick after not even knowing each other a week…and then knowing Grace’s “status” made it all the more ridiculous!
hello There, Your video quality is very good. Views are very low despite you uploading many videos, I reviewed your RU-vid channel and videos and noticed some possible tips that can help you increase your video views and subscribers. I would be happy to discuss further if you are interested.
*Spoiler-ish thoughts ahead!!* . . . . . . I really liked this one and read it in about 3 long sessions. The character development portion in the first third or so was long enough to invest me in them, but not long enough to feel drawn out. I knew something would eventually get twisty, and the one first “twist” moment just before the first perspective change was enough to buy me into the suspense. I wanted to know what the truth was, and it picked up the stakes big time. I loved the retelling of the “other side” of the coin. It added depth without being too repetitive. The ending felt very “Shawshank redemption” and was very satisfying. I like a thriller with a darker ending, but this one was a refreshing change.
The writer showed brilliant awareness about women’s medical rights and advocacy, but turned around and made the 2 main characters idiots when it came to logical thinking and communication. At times it was downright embarrassing. Made the entire circumstance a farce. Little Carly gets short shrift, the most interesting character. The narration very well done. I was driving so I stuck it out, but!
Just finished this book and Loved it! I can't wait to get the sequel Kills well with Others! I also listened to the audio book along with the physical book and loved it just as much. Killers of a Certain Age is one of my favorites of the year so far! Loved the banter between the women too! this book also gave me RED movies vibe but with women!
Shut the front door!!! There’s a sequel?! How did I did I not know this!! (Runs to Google) Thank you so much for stopping by AND giving me such great news! 🤗
I saw the author speak at a library event (via RU-vid). She mentioned allowing joy for her characters in this book versus trauma. I am looking for more joyful reads. 📕📕📕
I completely agree. The only “breadcrumb” that I caught on to, that didn’t even make me question Sarah…just confused me to be honest, was when she had her “secret visitor” that one night. No explanation to who it was, I went over and over reading and rereading because I thought I might have missed a name mention, but looking at it from the perspective given at the end of the story, it was revealed who the secret visitor could have been. That part made some sense, but I wish there was more of a lead up to it
