While the background image itself could be placed in the world's finest art museums based on its natural merit alone, the music that plays throughout this piece elevates the work significantly. The melody is at times harmonious and at other moments chaotic, establishing a contrast between Sam's pleasant temperament before becoming aware of the nearby pecan bonbons and his sorrow upon discovering them. The lyrics are also very revealing as they largely consist of Sam's lament being repeated in a variety of unique patterns. Perhaps the most striking element of the work is the interpretive dance provided by Sam himself. Unlike most dances, however, this is a sorrowful one. Simply from his powerful movements alone, it is easy to tell how strongly Sam feels about pecan bonbons. He feels so much distaste for them, in fact, that words fail him, and he is forced to express his tragic emotions through movement. Truly this piece is one of great artistic value and I hope to see it recognized as the masterpiece it truly is in the near future.
