If I were going to do videos on my 'stuff' (products)....I'd probably arrange a room (maybe a corner of a room) in a studio setting. Meaning? Right painting, decent lights, digital camera, etc. From previous videos, I didn't see a light-problem. Also, it wouldn't have to be indoors....you could have a patio setting with the products. Final observation, you have two channels in reality....one set to your products, and one to tell your personal story. I'm not saying the two mix, or fail to mix....just that there are two reasons for production. I might as well say it....some folks may have a measurement of putting your product line up against the Shopping Network, who spends a fair amount of effort on lights/cameras/color.
I've been buying stuff from you since the 90s. Everything you make is beautiful and unique. As someone who also handmakes clothing, I can say, some people just don't understand where we are coming from. I make sweaters for people and I've lost count of how many people just want a GAP/OldNavy style sweater (which is totally fine) and don't want to pay for it being handmade, sometimes I hand dye the yarn too to get them the colour they want...some people can't be satisfied.
True, I agree. Ahh, handmade sweaters are the BEST!! Yeah, I didn't respond to the email as I felt it more a personal attack from someone having a bad day or something. It's rough to receive that kind of feedback, but it's the risk we take putting ourselves out there. It comes with the territory, but you probably agree the good outweighs the bad overall.
@batikwalla and, yes, naturally there is more good than bad. I don't think I would keep doing it otherwise. I love the special connections people have with their sweater when they commission one. I had one customer do reiki with me while I was picking out their yarn for them. Haha! I'm up for pretty much anything. I make sure I have a good vibe when I'm making stuff so I know in my heart I did my best for them.
I love the way each garment you make has 'inconsistencies" or speckles in the dye coloring. It adds to the beauty and esthetic of each batik and emphasizes the artistic handmade quality.
Beach walk VLOG is a plus-up. Right time of the year to do long walks. On jackets....course, speaking from a guy's prospective....pockets are the big deal. The more pockets....the better. I'm waiting on someone to design hand-inserts with a padded area for brisk cold mornings.
If people kept statistics on it....guys lose phones probably to the rate of 5-to-1, over women. I worked with a guy who'd lost 4 phones in a 2-year period....never having backed up their contacts/data. Good story...fate is the master of our lives.
Several years ago, I considered a VLOG, and the technical aspects added up....to the point where I said 'no'. I like the format.....telling a story, and you do pretty well at this, with a point of humor sprinkled in. Add in the fact that this is landscaped against western coast region (my favorite section of the US).
I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. They are so special ❤! I, too, believe we will be with our pets again when we're in heaven. The Bible says the lion and the lamb will lie together in that day. So why not our furry family members?
Sorry you had to go through this. We had to euthanize our cat of 15 years about three years ago. I held her 'til the very end. Very sad but I could rejoice in the fact she lived a life most cats would have dreamed of.
Have you tried bottled water for the cat? I had a place I moved to that all my animals got sick and they weren't drinking the water because it was bad out of the tap. Prayers everything starts going better 🙏 ❤️
Victoria, so sorry about your cat. The hardest part of loving them and sharing a life with them is having to watch them wither away and eventually pass away. Sending you and your cat lots of love and prayers during this difficult time.
