That's not my bodywork I designed. I made the YSR R7 replica bodywork back in the late 90's . I don't know who made that bodywork. My bodywork is on Tony Tice YSR with the 426 yzf engine
Not sure. Engine got hot at about 200 miles made bad noise I never heard before. Had some metal in the oil was locked when it was hot. It will start and run but not right. Think it twisted the crank still don't know for sure. Shop in Lincoln Nebraska can full rebuild but it's expensive. I may be buying an AT3 tomorrow that's a bolt in 125 ysr motor.....either a full proper rebuild on the Rd or an AT3 swap. The swap is cheaper

I've seen an rz350 in one but you need a lot of frame work and welding to make it happen. You can do anything with unlimited wallet. But honestly that'd be too much to be road worthy
Hard to say. I used to work in a Yamaha shop so parts were cheap and easy to come by. Plus I had all the tools and know how to do it. When it comes to the ysr there is no cost. Original owner.
nice job. i have a 91 stock 50 still but planning upgrade just not sure kinda wanna do a blaster motor. bashees to large and warior is 4 stroke. shld i keep it simple with yz motor instead.. by way im also from ny. upstate albany area. not many of these around here. any ideas u cld throw my way wld be appriciated.
+cokeboy p peterbeatz I got 2 frames with same vin number. almost have a complete registerable original they have to be sold as a pair, you cant have them both on the road at same time but feasible could have two road worthy registerable bikes. I wouldn't sell them for anything less than $10k. very hard to find any that are registerable and still ridable with all paperwork. I got 2 motors for both bikes original plastics original exhaust toomey exhaust. I simply wouldn't take less than $10k
load test..... old tire. 1. it got the glazed rubber off the tire. 2. it tested the motor under a strain. (2a. any compression problems 2b. any bearing problems 2c if anything was ready to break it would have then) 3. it tested my welding work under a strain. 4. it confirmed the rpm capable of the pipes...... do you need any more reasons. the next one will be. 5. cuz it was fun and luv the smell of rubber burnt. 6. the chicken was crossed the road 7. the neighbors were gone
no idea actual times and figures yet... will dyno when done. been doing a lot of work on it and close to registration. from test rides....ballpark guess ......10 to 12 seconds...closer to 10. hitting 90/100 mph by speedo at 3rd 4th gear shift point at about 10 seconds....... cant tell u actual distance on that but its quick and this tranny keeps getting taller as it goes.... safe to assume 4th n 5th are same deal but aint had room to test and the Dunlop tires are in question over 100/110 ..... tires are an issue at 12 inch with that motor. feasibly this motor current setup could do 150mph .... the Dunlops will shred and at that speed and ysr fork diameter and folding the front end from rolling resistance becomes an issue. been trying to find the fastest rated 12 inch tire..... think its Michelin rated to 112 tested to 180. I'd be safe at 120 with that. go to 14 inch rims and u can get rated to 170mph which should be safe at any speed with that motor........again tho...... I'd be concerned... very concerned with the ysr front forks over 110 mph...... the new Honda grom inverted front forks look like a GREAT option. newly released for 2014..... pretty sure exact same size head set but have not got my hands on one yet...... would solve all ysr fork issues with that installed
John Morton What sort of work if any is done to the RD125 engine. Assuming a bike/rider combo weight of approximately 350 lbs, it would take about 37 hp to do a 12.9 seconds 1/4 mile. With the stock 17 hp RD125 engine, the 1/4 mile would take about 16.7 seconds. These are all based on calculations of course.
as far as plastics go....... doing something real soon(next couple days). tired or waiting on others. need to change from 6 volt lights to 12 volt lights and have been avoiding cutting up the stock plastics to do so. I got 2 frames same vin ...one stock one RD. be nice to keep the stock plastics for the stock and second set for the RD one. I just may put a motard light and front fender on it and run it as a naked YSR. Dunno but its ready to register if I get lights on it

got to do some test riding on a 1/2 mile private road. 1st gear 15/20 mph 2ng gear 40/45 mph 3rd gear 70mph 4th gear seen 95/100mph and had more rpm to go and never seen 5th gear. that old 76 RD125 motor is perfect for this bike. didn't want to go over 100 without the steering stabilizer. i think i want to change the gearing a bit to get some more giddie up out of it
