PEACE/ISLAM/SHALAWAM/HOTEP. It's unfortunate that PETE ROCK is in the space he's in ( IF WHAT CL SAYS IS ACTUAL FACTS?). WE THE FANS DESERVE A NEW ALBUM!. These two together are like HALEYS COMET. IT ONLY COMES ONCE EVERY SO OFTEN. I like what PETE ROCK has down with other people. YET THAT AINT THEM TWO TOGETHER. FOR THE FANS LET'S GET ONE MORE CLASSIC...👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾...PEACE AND LOVE.
tellin all the brothas we need to straighten it out when they can't follow their own words is disingenuous. there's some phenomenal music that we won't ever get to hear
I always wanted 2 hear what was the break-up. I think it was an interview during Soul Survivor 2CL did saying that would be the last time they worked 2gether
My father had a business on the same block 313 w37th since early 90s. All those yrs i was in the city, never knew d&d was a few building away from us. I would hear music blaring out a building but never knew where it came from. Miss those days. And premier used to drive a 5 series bmw that was parked in the garage across the street from the studio.
I will never really know how and why he had some type of problem with me but I never did see myself as his enemy I saw myself as a friend not a enemy but me and him somehow went at each other's throat and me and him had issues with each other
You know to me I always wonder what could have been the reason why he had a problem with me maybe he felt that I was trying to takeover his spot in hip hop that could have been the reason
I used to kick it wit' Lawnge's cousin...damn I forgot his name...he had the same family name, so I was bein' funny one day, 'n ask'd if he was related to "Mista Lawnge" from Black Sheep...he was like: "Yes, that's my crazy cousin..."...then, he told me that's how a town in North Carolina called "McLeansville" (in Guilford County) got its name...from their family initially!!! Awww man...what's dude name? We used to kick it about the redemption stuff and birth certificates and negotiable instruments on FB. He kinda look like he could be a relative of Mike Epps...
I've been thumping Percee P beats since I was 13, im now 33. Always has the illest rhyme patterns. Lung Collapsing Lyrics is one of my all time favourite songs, we need some Percee P on those fast bpm break beat tracks 🤙
I do miss them 2 brothers together. 2 slamming albums. Plus the singles after that & even the demos before the Good Life EP CD. They was like the '90s Run-D.M.C. next to Tip & Phife, EPMD, Eric B. & Rakim, Dre & Snoop, Markie D. & Kool Rock Ski, G. Rap & Polo & the Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff!
It's time for C.L. Smooth to come back!!! RIGHT NOW!!! Pete Rock is out here putting together full projects with Common. That's an indicator that Pete Rock has moved on. Smooth just go get another producer!!! Pete Rock is a snake for not respecting the Pete Rock/ C.L. Smooth union!!!☹️👎🏿
What's so sad is that there are very few instances of hip hop collaborations that were this perfect. Pete's beats were MADE for CL as much as CL's bars were MADE for Pete's beats. Perfect synergy. Madvillainy is the only other album I can think of that compares in terms of collaboration.
Roots in the bay as far as the black panther movement because of his mother but pac was born and raised in Harlem and the Bronx. Pac only moved to Oakland for his junior and senior year of highschool because of his mother. Otherwise he would have never left NYC. His rap name was MC New York. He would have stayed a New York rapper. His crew was live squad a buch of South Jamaica Queens cats.
Without the hot soul samples, Pete Rock is just another button pusher. Another knob twister. And his layers of unauthorized funk and soul loops are cost prohibitive so he just uses stock beats and generic synth
Pete is just like his mentor Marley Marl. They are both opportunists with zero loyalty. Jay Z said it best. To paraphrase Jay he said I don't work with Pete Rock because he' always wants to feature on the tracks he produces. He sued Nas for a vocal hook YOU KNOW Nas didn't ask for. And we've all heard his terrible vocals on Public Enemy and RunDmc remixes
