A woman wearing such lavish clothes was not indicative of powerlessness or incapability of existence without men. This makes no sense. Clearly, women were and enjoyed being the the centrepiece of the House. Representative of her or the couple's position in society and fiercely protected.

For all the Bernadette B, Abby Cox, etc groupies in the comments...pls stop believing everything they are telling you about corsets. They are little better than revisionists. For real, actual information about clothing and the times we need to consult contemporary sources ( they are rare ) and amusingly enough, that exists in an amazing set of book originally written for children- the" Little Ouse On The Prairie" series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Some SJW's take exception to the mores of the times, but that doesn't change the fact that they are truthful and an honest account from someone - from the working/ farming/ poor class who LIVED this stuff. Please read - and enjoy- because this is an enriching series which has preserved an experience that has vanished and gives a healthy perspective. God bless ❤ from 🇨🇦

Hello Polina, thank you for being the first one to voice my opinion on current fashion. Seems like people get offended in conversation when the issue is laid before them but only want to consider once they see a video - !! Good work.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ When I see videos like this I understand that western governments spent a lot of money & time on propaganda to make a social class that will be as naive as medieval peasants, and will trust every single word about "dictators" & "war criminals" from people that are the worst of these two groups. (And yeah, rulling lads are not elected in US or EU, or UK, or Russia, or anywhere else. They are, most of the times, born in rulling class. Other times they have guts to climb to this position [climb without support of regular citizens, that don't even know about existance of such people] You can just choose whose face will be the ambassador of the will of the state [not every time of course. The man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals has his electorate raising from the dead to vote for him, for example]). "Testing theories of american politics: elites, interest groups and regular citizens", "Descriptive representation, money, and political inequality in US" - that's how much your opinion worth. Less than nothing. And you really believe that people who killed 20 000 000 only in middle East in last 20 or so years will tell you the objective truth about morality!? People who publicly speaking about "garden" & "the jungle"!? Then tell me why now we see West against the rest situation in the world? Maybe because guys of "the jungle" decided that those who terrorized them for decades, strip them from their resourses, who opressed them grew weak & now is the perfect time to take their place? I don't think that this anti-proxy war is anything besides natural will of a country to survive and prosper by undermining positions of those who created that proxy.

During the C19 "pandemic, , freedom was taken away. None the less, the clothing designs from that point forward become increasingly baggy, unconsctructed and synthetic. That is a dichotomy!

Not only are the clothes ugly, but the models are too. Maybe not their faces/bodies (though some are), but the way they are told to slouch; look bored or snob; etc.

I think they are maniputating people even through mode. Beautiful is out of question, and I dont like this trend and I dont buy this ugly cloth, but all people in western countries dress all the same if we dress in a elegant way people look out of the trend… Its awful…

As a person who wears 18th century mens clothes į dear to disagree. Womens clothing in this era is uncomrfortable, but mens are lively to wear and work. This era now is very depresing and ugly making me womit. Not gonna lie women should have confortable clothes but this eniquality of uncomrfortable female clothes is still common in this era as well. Fake pockets, small sizes, more expensive clothes compared to mens counterparts. Basicaly women dress more ugly but still uncomrfortable. Todays society is a piece of shit to be honest. Has no grave or style. Everybody looks likę they live in a trash can. People are not so confident, all The same with no self worth or sence of style. Colours are disapuering and The world is just going to be more depresive by The day. It breaks my heart to be honest. People should be beautifull and confortable. Yiu can achieve bouth if you use a little bit of imagination.

Asians still dress in handmade embroidered or not; according to occasion pure silk for events and weddings and cocktails dinner. And in pure cotton during the day with all colours of rainbow 🌈 in our palette. Your browns ......dark blues......dark burgundies are of the western world. You perhaps should attend fashionable fashion shows in India. 😊😊

Some 70 years ago, author Richard Weaver wrote a book with the title, "Ideas Have Consequences" - the implication being that bad ideas have bad consequences. And given our society's tendency to cultural and moral decay, bad ideas just don't go away. Fashion, like many other things has been the victim of the seriously flawed philosophy of de-construction. Why would a women choose to buy a pair of jeans that are full of rips and tears - and pay more money for them than for a nice comfortable, skirt or dress? The reason, in most cases, is that she doesn't want to be "out-of-style." Unfortunately, boring, crappy jeans will never go out-of style. My hat's off to those women commenting here who have chosen to find or construct styles reminiscent of the 1930s-50s.

Haaaa, boring fashion last years reminds me of working at a dentist, sanitized and no more soul, so far away from nature, life and joy of creating. It is reflecting our times perfectly. I myself switch to a nostalgic grungy broken rat style, fits my state of mind nowadays...

Some women do not care about their look very much, some using botox injuries in their 20's and being tatooed and dressed too "sexy". It is strange.

I think that teenagers can try things out and they often want to wear ugly fashion, like the today's relaxed look. Adults often do not make any effort at all in our time. Many women wear men's casual fashion, shirt, jeans, sneakers. Plus a short haircut from the prison. Men are children until they are 75 years old and love faded and baggy clothing. Millions are dressed like Bart Simpson. Hardly anyone knows elegant evening wear anymore or knows how to move in it. That is a lack of culture.

Well, a lot of dresses are pretty comfy, and you CAN wear them everyday. Pretty prints, interesting colors and ruffles don't restrict your movement, so why not wear them to brighten up your day instead of yet another sport suit?

So fashion today is ugly, because designers are inspired by the regular person who dresses like the chair in his living room - a pile of clothes that just cover them? Hmm, I have to disagree. Fashion, like media is driven by politics. The latest fashion that looks like a potatoe sack is marketed to us as though it is all about our comfort, because we wanted it, you know corona virus, social isolation and so on. Yet, the reality is that those clothes are sexualy ambiguous. And the designers of mass producing brands are either leftists themselves or are forced by the leftists policies adopted by the companies officially. The new ideology is sex is a construct and therefore we should all dress ambiguously and hide. Fashion has always been politics - just like the hippies and them wearing pants instead of skirts. In the world today, if you dress stylishly - you belong to the old patriarchal order that opresses women and gay people. But if you dress flamboyantly or sexually ambiguous - you are one of us, the woke ones. And because style is acociated with rigidity, one needs to follow certain rules and avoid certain things, therefore this new prison uniform as I call it came into existance, to convince us that we are free. It is very simple and surface level logic that those 'beautiful' people apply, but because they force it it is difficult to outshout them.

Fast fashion has taken over the world. It is cheap stuff meant to be worn once and discarded. It is devastating for the environment in terms of CO2, generating masses of garbage, it is devastating socially, encouraging slave like labour practices in countries like Bangladesh. The pleasure people derive from these garments is in the short dopamine hit from clicking the purchase button when online shopping. Actually wearing the stuff provides little enjoyment. Shopping used to be a drawn out social experience (all afternoon) with friends, trying out stuff and laughing goofily in the changing areas (at least, that is how my girlfriend would explain shopping to me). Shopping used to fill our city streets with mom and pop shops, provide jobs locally. Now, it's mostly online platforms owned by corporations. You do it alone with your phone.

I have thought this to myself for YEARS!!! I still have clothing items from the 80s and 90s (don't judge). WHY?? Because (and I say this ALL THE TIME) "They don't make things like they used to." So I hang onto them. Color, embellishments, the cut of the clothing, everything has been thrown out the window. But it's not just fashion. As many have said, it's the "uglification" of society as a whole. Fashion, _ART_ especially, architecture, automobiles, hairstyles, you name it - all of it has been beaten hard with an ugly stick. Why? Because no one truly cares any more. No one is doing something out of the pure love of it, or to make the world more beautiful, or to make something lovely for it's own sake; no, it's now merely a means to an end: *PROFIT.* Not only that, but it's the overall breakdown of our very thought - that fat is beautiful (it's not, it's extremely unhealthy), that the freakshow in the LGBTQ group are "beautiful" with their multiple piercings, tattoos, shaved heads, dyed eyeballs, pink & blue hair, weird tatty clothing, unnatural affections to each other, etc. It's literally doing what the Bible says "is right _in their own eyes."_ Dark for light, evil for goodness. It's the enforcement of : You WILL acknowledge me, you WILL accept me, you WILL respect me, you WILL allow me do whatever *I* want, whenever I want, wherever I want, and don't you DARE tell me otherwise! That's it in a nutshell. It's the out-of-control-ness of society. The children have taken over, and the adults are absent. The smallest percentage groups with the biggest mouths, and loudest voices, are creating a ruckus throughout the world. We're living in a Romans 1 world right now, folks. And the end is near. Very near. #getJesusandgetouttahere

When it comes to corsets - no, only a badly tylored corset that is laced way too tight are gard to wear. In fact a good corset, well tylored and laced for size is a good support for boobs and back. Multiple fashion hystorics ion RU-vid covered the misunderstood corset topic.

I feel like the decline in shopping malls is caused by the popularity of online shopping 🛍. During the last few years of 2010s decade everyone was wearing neutrals. It wasn’t until the aesthetics trend I started to see during the early 2020s. Shop like Shein sell clothing styles that are inaccessible in store e.g. gothic and alternative styles. I’m not sure if we have physical stores in the UK that sell these kind of clothing.

I have been thinking about this a lot. Especially needing to be financially healthy through no excess clutter and owning. And I had to think really hard and deep about what my clothes accessories etc reflect of me their use and practicality as well as relevancy in my industry: arts culture performance music. To not make this longer than it needs to be, coupling all my experience living abroad especially Japan, I do have to make a case for its fashion. It is a constant juxtaposition as well as an echo and and evolution of its past present and future. due to harsh social norms and gender stereotypes many women usually a very feminine style and yet it is also contrasted by a very asexual style many times. Having gone from Kimonos (picture a corset but for the entire body and of at least 15 layers) and the weight, to very loose free moving flowy fashion. To veyr gothic and even again neutral. Also in a sense liberating men to be either cute, sharp, bad boy, preppy, feminine, or again neutral. And the influence anime and manga and cosplay has on fashion there. Depending on the life style you have will determine your dressing style but I know of ppl who work corporate jobs and then dress up in cosplay or gothic, or even in sweats all weekend. I find in Japan fashion to be a true expression of the self rather than trend or status. Because there really just are too many to even become a trend.

i hate clothing nowadays. It looks so androgynous, industrialised and unflattering for the female body. Every brand is producing clothing that are the least feminine. It’s why unfortunately I don’t shop these brands and wear Asian brands instead. I like wearing feminine flowy outfits to accentuate my body. Not corporate cookie cutter pieces

Very interesting video, thank you. (Excuse me, the French Revolution was in 1789, following the American Revolution in 1776. We Americans bow to the French fashion sense, but history is history.) After the devastating earthquake in Los Angeles in 1994, I found myself wearing huge jeans and loose shirts. It made me feel safe. At the time, LA gangbangers were all wearing huge clothes- and I understood why for the first time.

You have to have bit of luck, but without hard work, that luck means nothing. it goes away. Luck comes and goes. Luck = opportunity. You can make your own opportunity. Me for example. I drop out of college. My mom threaten to make me homeless within a week. If i don't get work or go back to college. I created my own work to avoid homeless. next thing you know, I'm making a good living.
