Wow, love the axolotl fabric - well done Marna! I know what you mean about not sewing as well as in the past, and looking askance at the sewing machine. lol, sometimes I just hang the fabric up as a backdrop. Glad you got some good books from your past. I look forward to spooky season with you and all the other spooky loving you tubers!

I've been trying to do the same and go through my clothes too and I have a LOT. I've also got some in storage which I haven't even been able to find yet, I've tended to keep clothes over the years with the thought that "well, I might fit in it again some day" but have come to the conclusion that having less is far better for me. If I have too much choice then some of those pieces are just never going to be worn so what's the point of having them. Also I would rather have fewer but better quality than more with the vast majority of them being fast fashion items. (Could you not get the lobster dress altered to fit you maybe? The fabric is fabulous, you could maybe have it turned into a completely different item!)

Hey thank you so much!! I actually make a conscious effort to course correct when I do things like that, because I absolutely do not believe it for myself - but I don't want others to hear it and think it be a normal or okay thing to say to themselves about themselves. It's a slippery slope! Black dress solidarity! <3
I so need to do this!! Like a deep deep clean in my drawers and maybe closet too! Also the rectangle cardigan had me going bwuh??? I wear so much pants and am trying to break out my skirts finally! I have a few dresses too, they're fun!
Omg I NEED to do this too! I love dresses! I've started a comfy, padded bust, no iron, dress collection so that I can literally just grab & go. Dresses are just so easy & love the air flow lol
I totally understand. I felt burnt out right after the David Byrne video. Since celeb stuff is my channel's main focus, I wasn't excited about any new entertainment coming out until just last week. (it was Brandy playing Cinderella again!!) For me, gardening/being outside helped immensely and the same with limiting my screen time outside of work. But it will probs be different for you, and I hope you feel better soon. You're making videos on so many different topics now and I love it! Now, to watch your videos for 500 hours so youtube knows that you're absolutely worth watching...^_^
I definitely like seeing what you, Elyse Explosion, are up to. Sometimes I find that downsizing is more stimulating and satisfying than buying more stuff. I started reading "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning", the idea being that you clean up before yourself so that other people don't have to clean up after you're gone. I was getting into that but then something came up and put that on pause. But I'm gradually getting back to it. Just today I put another doll into the "outgoing" pile and I felt so refreshed! I'll be checking back to see what videos you put up next! No hurry, though...I've got a lot of death cleaning to do - ha.

I'm not quite at the purge to leave behind little trace step, but I am definitely in the phase of "does this bring me joy, or do I have it just to have it?" - there is definitely a lot of "just had to have it" hanging around that is definitely, probably not worth sticking around.

As you said, chasing the YT algorithm can just be too much. I think most of us have been in the situation and I appreciate your discussion of the topic. It really comes down to what makes you happy. If making a video about a certain topic, makes you happy then that’s what you should do. There’s nothing wrong with switching gears and trying out different approaches to see what works for you.
Like you mentioned on your Twitch stream, this kind of burnout can take many forms. I got a bad bout of teaching burnout, and fortunately I was able to take a 6-week summer break to try and recoup. Starting back up on Monday. I love the attitude that You are what makes these videos special. I have zero interest in the dolls, but it's always inspiring watching your passion for the videos you make. The travel, food, and other videos you have made showcase the whole of your personality. That said, you need to focus on what fuels you. I'm glad you're finding avenues to help with finances and mental health. Looking forward to new videos when they arrive!
We all gotta stick together, Elyse. I've felt a lot of the same impulses and it stopped me from making stuff for a while. But making stuff has led me to meeting a lot of great people, and I still believe stuff can happen if we help each other. You rule and I'm always here for you!
