I think Kraken = Large Scary "Sea Monster". Surely started as one thing, but became a catch-all term for all of the Giant Sea Creatures that were encountered: Giant Squid, Colossal Squid, Whales, Ore Fish, Shark, etc... I do believe Giant & Colossal Squid did attack ships. Possibly they are more intelligent that we give them credit for, and collectively learned not to attack ships after being attacked back and injured. The sailors described them long before we had evidence of them. They were talking about giant arms coming out of the water attacking their ships before Giant/Colossal Squid had been documented.
When military leaders ran out of skills they had to kiil their own civilians in oder to bridge their way to encounter the enemy. I still can't understand the bombing of the French people.
A programme dedicated to following the journey of a couple renovating a house where you don't actually see either of them doing anything. He was clearly overwhelmed and she was deluded. How they managed to achieve what they eventually did is beyond me considering anyone with an ounce of common sense would have done the roof FIRST..
Miles Dempsey commanded the British, Canadian and Polish ground forces and Omar Bradley commanded the American ground forces and from June 6-September 1, Montgomery commanded all of them. On September 1, Eisenhower took over command of the ground forces. There was a political decision that the ground forces would have a British commander when the majority were British and Canadian troops and an American commander when there were more US troops on the ground. Monty annoyed people and hurt his own reputation by later suggesting that he foresaw all the German moves when he decided on his strategy when what he actually did was kept adapting to all the German moves such as where they massed their panzer divisions. In alternate history, a different commander might have done a better job but Monty is the one who won the Normandy campaign in our timeline.

The British and Canadians were not defeated at Caen. The whole point was to draw in the German armour into a battle for Caen and keep it away from the American beaches. The city meant nothing. It was the roads through Caen to Carentan and St.Lô the Germans needed.
I had began to associate this absorbing show as a bit of political correctness . This episode is rather refreshing. There is drum beat of English aggression, which is well deserved .However the Scots did as much invading of England and Ireland with or without continental allies. Fascinating all the same .
Costa Concordia largest ships ever built? Most luxurious? Hardly. Costa ships were at best, C-rank compared to the vast Cruise ship titans of Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian cruise line's vast ships. They describe the ship as a wonder, with even a full sized casino on board.........honey darling, EVERY major cruise ship has those amenities!

arf NO WAY it's a disgrace, I've got friends who are currently renovating a chateau for a client, and we know that it can quickly add up to a lot of money, but ... AT LEAST ... couldn't they have used WOOD COLOUR?? this totally disfigures BOTH the landscape AND the historic work of art ... I wouldn't like to have this under my nose as a neighbour :/
