Here in east central Missouri, I had the same thing happen the last week of August. The good sized swarm headed to the river bottom. At the advice of a fellow beekeeper, I checked the issuing hive to find several capped queen cells and a newly emerged queen. I left the virgin and took two 4 frame splits with the other cells. Fast forward several weeks, the mother colony and the 2 nucs all have laying queens.
Thank you for the information. I was unsure as where to position my apiguard treatment. From a previous years, note I wrote myself to position them between the two brood boxes. I am running deeps, and it looks you are using mediums, and you placed your treatment on top of the two medium brood boxes. That would make life much easier. I will do that the next time, in two weeks (but still have to remove the current treatment card positioned between the brood boxes.). Secondly, I am also disturbed about how i have the supports for my hives arranged. I am using the 8X8X16 cinder blocks but am running my 4X4”s through the holes in the top cinderblock. That does not leave a lot of distance between the two 4X4’s, and the hives seem tippy. You have your 4X4’s sitting right on top, at the edge of the cinder blocks, and presumably that is more stable than the way I have them arranged. Will remodel everything in two weeks when I do the next apiquard treatment. Hope the weather cooperates in two weeks.
The same metal nine frame spacers we put in our wood boxes well. We carry them here at the store. They need to be installed with little screws, other than that it's the same. Thanks for asking the question. #RTBBF!

Always great to hear from you Kathy, you're right on target with the freezer and make it fast! Sounds like your honey sales are going great and I know your customers are getting a well prepared product. As always thanks for watching our channel. #RTBBF!
Definitely give it a try. It just puts another feather in your cap so to speak and hopefully brings a little more cash to the pocket. Thanks for watching!
I put down the application card applied 51ml of apiguard . Bees have to have space to clean gel from card. Wait 14 days repeat treatment. All done on top super. A very affective treatment and fast. I hope this helps with your question. #RTBBF!
Bear is good eating. . We were up above Cottage Grove Oregon for archery season. We tracked a herd of elk. . I checked behind me to verify my buddy Dave was in his lane... ... and saw a black stalking him. . I turned and fired at about forty yards, Dave did the same from twenty or so. I hit low in her lungs. Dave hit right down her gaping maw. . After dressing, we placed the packaged meat in the freezer on the porch. Within twenty-four hours, tweaks stole our bear right out of the freezer. . About that time, we got dogs. Oddly, our dogs hate tweaks severely. Where do you suppose they learned that...
Yes we do sell the long hives. However because of the length and weight shipping is not pleasant. But they are available in the store for pick up only. Thanks for asking. #RTBBF!
I just found your channel searching on how to deal with the aftermath of a bear attack on our bee hive here in the upstate of South Carolina. We had a bear hit our hive 6 days ago and we put up an electeic fence the same day. I procrastinated about it and now im paying for it! And the bear left the honey box alone and went straight for the brood as well! I still dont know if the queen survived. Will be checking on it in the next few days and will post a video on my channel. Hopefully it can educate people like myself on taking the rigth precautions!
I do recommend treating after your honey has been harvested. Temp with OA is only a factor when it's so cold the bees are clustered. If they aren't spread out the vapors won't penetrate clusters and you are just treating outside clustered bees. I hope this made sense and helps with question. Thanks for watching. #RTBBF!
Those hives look neat, seem well thought out. I like my new jacket I got from your store the other day. I Hope it's ok I did a review of it on my channel. Thanks John 🐝😄
While it does help with ventilation it also gives the bees a lot more space from one an other while working pollen and nectar sources. And also cuts down on travel time from one end of frames to other. Thanks for the comment. #RTBBF!
Hello Hello. I do not know why but I have never saw as many hive beetles as I have seen this season. Hope all is going well for you an your family. Thanks
Hello Kathy, the beetle population seems to increase getting closer to fall. And you're right, it's a large increase in beetles here this year too.Maybe a good deep freeze to the ground will take care of next year's beetles. #RTBBF!
This a great transfer, I saw another video where the guy said they walk uphill so he dumped the rest on a towel ramp leading up to the hive entrance where he took the entry slot out and they just all loaded right up ❤
