I am Maddy, a gravel rider based in London, U.K. From city finance to gravel racing internationally...follow me on my journey to race my gravel bike across the world.
Huge thanks to my sponsors: Ribble, Velocio, Panaracer, Parcours, OTE, Giro Cycles, Chimney Fire Coffee, POC, Wahoo and Selle Italia
Saw a shot in your Rift video that made me realize you were camping just across the road from me at Hellishóllar. Turns out, across the road and a few spaces down: my tent is behind your head @8:48 🙂 Glad you had a good trip despite not being able to race.
Oh I totally thought it was you guy camping accross from us. Should have popped over to say hi. Sorry you couldnt race madz. Iceland is totally rad isnt it? Love you content by the way
This reminds me that I’ve always wanted to bike tour Iceland. It looks like proper rain gear is a must. Though it seems like when I rains it’s a good excuse to find a hot spring. Hopefully, I don’t anger the little people and have them play tricks on me.
Great to see you having a break from the bike and happy time in amazing scenery. All in all good for the soul and the heart. I hope that your recovery is progressing well. ATB.
Awwww you girls are so cute; what a lovely adventure. I think that this was meant to happen Maddy. You did a great edit on this; the music was perfect. One my affirmations is "I relax and surrender to the flow of life", and this made me think of that immediately. #Iceland I see a new tourism ambassador! Hugs and love to you both.
That looked like about as much fun as you could have without a bicycle, well done the pair of you. Camper van travel is remarkably liberating, and it looked like you were making the most of it too - good to see you driving :) Funny, I never thought of Iceland as having good food, thought it would be all kippers and moss, but my eyes are open now. Quite enjoyed the scenery, must be amazing close up; the black beach and the weather are like the inverse of Cottesloe, I guess, and there are volcanoes! I hope you are recovering well and not battling too hard with the enforced quiescence, being patient and mindful and not too much of cow to those around you.
Went to Iceland with my girlfriend five years ago, and decided to go on a road trip along the ring road in a campervan almost exactly the same model as this one. Still the best vacation of my life (so far). Seeing this makes me incredibly nostalgic!
Hmmm..Wonder if this is related to having gotten covid vaccines. Some younger people near me that were in the military were discharged before their hitch was up due to developing heart inflammations after having received the vaccine....I wish you a speedy recovery!!
Look up these riders and try to connect the dots: - Ella Harris - Heiko Sepp - Niek Kimman - Peter Sagan - Anna Shackley - Mark Groeneveld - Niklas Eg - Nathan van Hooijdonk - Jarno Mobach - Sep VanMarcke - Jan Polanc - Heinrich Haussler - Rab Wardell - Sonny Colbrelli
Do some Yin Yoga classes. Deep, slow, meditative, zero muscle engagement passive stretches (up to 10 mins) with very deep slow breathing. It will keep your lungs active without stressing them through intense exercise, and the stretches will be so beneficial to your training when you return. It will also teach you to become more aware of your body and keep your mind healthy through the patience of long held stretches.
Excellent self awareness and response. Lesson to anyone experiencing unusual heart / chest signals, get it checked out thoroughly a.s.a.p. Not too difficult to know where causation occurred. All the best from Auz down under 😎
As someone that grew up in the UK and then moved to the US I have only one piece of advice for you: Get a private medical tests. I left England with a couple of alignments and all of them were resolved with what I would now call basic healthcare tests. I lived for 30 years with BS results from England that turned out to be incorect. Before anyone says this was a single event, I crashed hard on my bike in 1995 and suffered massive bruising but NHS said I will be fine... 30 years later it sucks donkey balls. Get another evaluation. If you can't afford if set up a go fund me for it and I'll help you but please God don't do anything.
You inspired me to sign up for the Rift this year. I’m sorry you weren’t able to do it but health comes first. I want to hear about your Iceland trip and see how it compared to mine! Healing will come just be patient… patience is so hard.
Sorry to hear that your not well, hope you come good soon, sometimes a health scare can be the catalyst for a rethink on how you do things. I had a few ticker turns in 2022 and ended up getting a stent put in but i was back on the bike in a few months no dramas and performing better than I was before the issue. You will be right just rest up and recover, keep your chin up.
Hey Maddy, Im Mr random on here. The title got me clicking! Very sorry for you young Lady, do hope everything gets fixed and you're back on the bike. I just couldn't imagine how I'd cope with being told not to ride for whatever length of time because I love the cycling and been doing it for decades. Mend well and go race!👍🏻
Después de este vidéo, quiero estudiar más español. Fue divirtío. ¡Buen trabajo! Edit to add: I know this video is a few weeks ago, but I hope you get well quickly.
Inflammation sucks! I've been battling similar issues for a few years now. Rest and recover, and you'll come back even stronger! Keep up the cooking content and stay strong! Cycling is still in your blood. 💪
Yooooo what a bummer! I’m visiting your area from the US in about a week, sucks you can’t ride for now or else I’d suggest we go get a few KOM/QOM. Would you be down for a tasty meal out instead? I travel by taste, lol so I’ll be eating everything I can find.
I commend your taking prompt action to figure out what was going on. Many people just ignore symptoms or explain it away. You may have saved your life. Best of luck and get well.
