Does anyone know if Rev from KSN is Michael Seiff?? Did a lot of album covers for Venice bands. This is simply speculation. Would appreciate any insight.
That first shot...is that the wall Excel used for the album pics? Ben and Shaun were affiliated with KSN wikipedia tells me. I will be playing with them next month on a festival. Love that band. Gonna get me all the merch
I do beg to differ with you.... The flavors were Coke or Cherry flavor.... I think they brought in Mountain Dew to alternate between the cherry flavor every couple weeks.... But I do remember a red Slurpee which was cherry flavor
You're absolutely right, wisk was all city during those years. That's when I shot "Bombing L.A.". He talks about numbering his tags/throw-ups and his style of racking paint from stores.
I really like hearing these vids. These writers logic blows me away. I am convinced Wisk has made up over half of his story. All the crews he says are all him n like 4 dudes. I wanna be in that world so bad. I bet he's cost the city 30 million bucks and opened the flood gate to make LA look like an alley
SO DOPE!!! I love how freaky writers are. Easily the most emotionally disturbed kids ever! I dont support vandals and any crime buttttt I love how deranged these guys are! The pathology fascinates me!
TAG ALL CITIES KREW - BINE ONE - ART - ISSUE - DEVER - PORT - DOVE - PAIN- LOTTO- ZERK - TESK - HEIR - ETC... THE ASSASSINS CREW KINGS!! The ACID Crew Kings!!!
This is an example of LA copying New York culture. NYC started everything and they just wanna be like us. Same thing still happening today. We had street gangs first. Graffiti, Rap music, and break dancing. All New York originated. I think LA peole are Lame! Just how i feel.
More people should see this if they want to learn about the homeless situation in the U.S, at least around this part of it. The fact the government allows homelessness and seeks to keep people homeless for its system tells us how inhumane capitalism is, among many other great wrongs it has committed and continues to commit.
It's dope how the LA crews opened the books and now you'll see STP MSK CBS OTR all over the country. When they moved to Frisco in the 90s alot of other out of town cats showed up and it made for one of the dopest eras of Graff. I'm stoked I was there and I took some fliks
From the late 80's through the mid 90's I lived in L.A. and was a Graffiti Artist and I remember the way we were transforming from writers and artists to tag bangers and then real bangers, and it wasn't just us, it was the party crews, the dance crews and social clubs as well, the gangs, no matter what part of L.A., all were putting pressure or simply beating everyone up, and even as a writer I knew people that were both writers and bangers, and as more and more were put on the set the more gang like we became, I remember watching a fight break out between two taggers and one pulled a scriber out and stabbed the other, I got shot at a couple different times by some bangers but the craziest was after I had been featured on Fox News' Taggers Special Report, a rival crew which I knew a couple from Jr High now in High School and knew where I lived showed up on my street one day 14 deep trying to f*ck me up but my bf who lived across the street had his Uncle visiting and his aunt and her man and his mom's boy friend were at his house and the manager of my apts was outside BBQing with his homies and they scared the rivals so bad several pissed their pants, that's because my manager and his homies were from Fudgetown Mafia Crips, my bf's Uncle was from the local area gang NHLs, his mom's boyfriend was from 38th St, his mom was from NHLs too, his aunts man was from PF13, and all of them had put in major work for their hoods and did time for them, I know just before I moved away one of my crews had already started becoming tag bangers and kicking it with 18th St, but a few years later they started beefing with 18th St and cliqued up with WF, now my crew ATC isn't Addicted To Crime, now there the Alley Tiny Criminals, I was from a few crews which means I got up alot, in alot of areas and knew how to write, I was from ATC, GK, VK(818K), CBS and DYC and I know besides ATC, VK became a gang and so did GK, DYC has Tripled in size but was started by my brother, 2 of my homies and me, and CBS has Stayed as it was, an Elite Graffiti Artist Crew.
Definitely an LA graffiti story lol I don't know if other cities truly understand the different dynamic in what it means to be a Graff writer here in LA as well as the greater LA area too. The politics of it are completely different than any other city for sure. It's not as bad as it used to be, but everything that you described still goes on in one form or another, no doubt about that... especially if you're Mexican and your crew is from a city or neighborhood with a heavy real deal Varrio that controls that area, then most likely one has to deal with this dynamic, not to mention that 9/10 they probably have family members from that Varrio as well lol LA def is a trip, party crews used to act like gangs too...shit even Hardcore Punk has crews/gangs not only now, but even since the inception of the music & scene here LA in the 80's.
Hip -Hop is a Black thing Graffiti art is one of HHs 4; Elements Graffiti was started by Latino, White, Asian, Jewish, AND Black kids from NY. Moral of the story? Hip-Hop is a NEW YORK thing!!!
