Sounds heartfelt even in this poor quality! I first heard them in like 2005-2006, found them on another band's forum. A talented band! It's sad if they quit and there's no good recording. Or there is?

The best results so far I have seen. I'm glad that I found your video. I'm also working on a grey textured backdrop, looking for very similar texture like yours. None of the youtube had achieve the kind of look i was aiming for, except yours. I also looked into some painting tutorials on mixing and layering. To me, it seems the key here is the kind of paint you use - Acrylic. Most of other used wall paint and then, just two layers of different colours. But great texture and shades/tones are basically developed by lots of slow layering and mixing and controlled brush strokes. To do that ones needs the right kind of paint. Your idea of Acrylic with more water seems to work for it well. Thanks for sharing! I will try this.

Still great even 15 years later. I really miss Lamia Antiheus, and bands similar with that unique banshee style vocals. Never hear any new or recent music like this anymore. A Vampyric Romance from Amongst Profound Portraits..., is still apart of my playlists to this day on my phone and when I listen to music in the car, at work, etc.

I really like the rendering. Personally I can’t get this almost "marbled" texture. Maybe it comes from the roll? or turn over water before
@Letheus

Thank you! Probably a mix of the roll, the way you roll it, how diluted the paint is and how much paint you get on the roller.

@@axellereboux Thanks for the reply. I'm also planning and doing the research to make a custom hand painted backdrop these days. As I also commented on this video, I don't believe one could achieve this artistic very deep tones and texture using wall paint. But I haven't done it myself. But prior to trying out the backdrop, I also watched lots of painting tutorials on painting backgrounds for art. The kind of deep tones and texture is mainly achieved by mixing several tones of colors, adding several layers and really mixing them. I don't believe this is possible with wall paint. In most you videos of painting photography backdrops, people just paint 2-3 layers and achieve the so called texture. But it doesn't have that deep marble like look as you say. For that, I think you need to go in layers, use different techniques, for ex. did you notice he also did use a spray bottle ? I think it was sprayed and you can get creative in several ways. But, my conclusion is it the better the authentic deep texture you want you really have to consider about your paint type. Also, i think as he did in the video to dilute Acrylic with water, otherwise you will have to break the bank :D and then develop the texture slowly. Lots of manual work gives you the best result here. Good luck! But this is only my conclusions from watching and putting together what others have done and looking at oil/acrylic painters work. Try at your own risk or search for that.

I just gave this a shot last night and can't seem to get the texture right. If my canvas wrinkled a little in the middle is it game over? The canvas doesn't look as flat as yours after drying. Can i try to repaint the same canvas or should I start over? I thought I had diluted the paint quit a bit, but maybe not enough? Any tips would be appreciated.

Man that was awesome, the music fit the speed of the video. This is the video I've been looking for, having a little art background I knew how it needed to be done,. Ie: adding lots of water to dilute it. You did a great job showing how to do this, and in the video production. I lost track on how many coats or colors you used, do you remember?
@Letheus
@Letheus 4 года назад
Haha thank you! =) Yeah, sums up to around 10-ish very thin layers with little drying time between. Total time of painting was around 4h including the time it dried between the layers. After that I let it dry overnight hanging on a backdrop stand.

Hi!! Thank you! It was primed canvas on a roll, so I did not have to prime it. Just used the normal acrylic paints you can find in any paint-shop. Do not remember the exact specific shades or brands. I diluted the paint with a looooot of water, like full on! It was extremely thin. Did not mix after any ratios, just winged all of it.

Nice technique! Was your canvas primed? Doesn't look like it is wrinkling, I'm guessing keeping everything not too wet, not too heavy painted and layering while still semi-wet is key? Love that sting at the beginning, used it for a montage intro. Little distortion tho, clipping!

I agree. The best in terms of results, Really a great job! But no where in the top in terms of sharing the process and details. However, I think the important point here is he used Acrylic paint, probably with normal wall paint it might be hard to achieve the kind of texture, specially due to difficulties in mixing and layering.
