There are no wild rainforest left in Singapore - exept the wild nature park in the "middle", so where the hell do those last wild cats live ? I'am from EU (back at my home country), but i lived in Singapore for years and the nation has cut down all the rainforest and replaced it with concrete buildings for over 5 million people to live in. Sorry, but you should not speak out about endangered species if you have killed off almost all of them from your own country!
These people making the videos are the few who realised the damage our parents has done, OR pur government has done to accomodate us. They can't just off them self or immigrate..but this does again highlight overpopulation of humans, and people needing to stop breeding on like we do. Limit our offspring to 2x max.
Can SWAG create T-shirts that have design across the female chest section? Climate global warming and it's hard to find T-shirts that covers the nipples so females have freedom to go braless.
Great that you know about civets! However, although civets are close relatives to the cat family, they are not cats. Civets usually have a longer face, shorter legs, and have more teeth than cats. Most civets also have an omnivorous (eat plants and animals) diet, compared to cats that are almost completely meat-eating.
I am interested in writing a grant proposal on the topic to help save these cats. Its for my masters. What would be the most dire thing that your company would need or help funding for? Funding for cameras for example, other equipment or other reason?
Thank you for showing this video. Very informative and inspiring. If only their natural habitat areas could be increased, and more staff available to monitor and protect these beautiful cats. Are there any awareness programs operating locally to raise awareness of the need to preserve and protect them i.e. schools? And for adults?
Hi Susan! Glad to know that you've enjoyed the video. We also hope that their remaining natural habitat areas could be protected through the years! We do have some projects in line to raise awareness locally in public spaces. Do subscribe to our newsletter or social media to find out more. You can also drop us an email at swag.cat.sg@gmail.com if you have an idea to start something for schools! :)
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Love the humor, too!😁. Looking forward to contribute some artwork to promote this awareness. Subbed! Meoooowwwww!🐈
Thank you for the question! Here's what Marcus Chua, leopard cat researcher, says: An insurance breeding population might be possible, but the practicality of such an action has to be carefully studied to ensure that removal of sufficient leopard cats to form such a population does not cause negative impact to the population.
@@SingaporeWildcatActionGroup ooo Thanks for the answer! I think that makes the most sense but I'm worried that we won't even be able to assess this before the species becomes locally extinct. Is there a point where you would advocate capturing the entire population in order for them to breed? On a side note, do we have any idea of what subspecies is found here? I read that there now is a differentiation between the Leopard Cat and the Sunda Leopard Cat though I'm not sure what that is. Sorry to bombard you with questions btw!
Very good program that gives a great background on the issue. What would be the potential carrying capacity of the remaining Singaporean forests for leopard cats?
@@SingaporeWildcatActionGroup thank you, so the current estimate of 20 individuals is already double the carrying capacity of 10? This cat species can attain quite high densities in good forest. Best regards
