क्वीन इज डेड. Movies, the universe, and everything. We come to pop culture with an Indian perspective and want to share it with the world. These are the voyages of the podcast Queen is Dead!
There is a theory that states everyone is 6 “I know a guy” away from everyone. My friends mom did cocaine with g.w.bush in college. Is my friend republican? I wish. Could he have made George do things when he was president? No.
I have been listening to this podcast with great interest as well as curiosity. I have not watched the show so far. Any show which claims that it is based on historical events has my interest. From what I see here and have heard from my friends promises only disappointment. Since my main interest in such a show is the history, the costumes and the production design, I feel this one falls flat on those fronts. I have seen photos or stills as they are called. The costumes are too drab. To my eyes it looks like a 'wagle ki duniya' , Ek hi rang aur ek hi thaan men se sabke kapde silvaaye hain. Too much of internal politics and bickering shoves history to the sidelines. Also, the little that I have seen of their dance made me think, they needed to rehearse more. While it looks beautiful, setwise, the life of these women looks glamourised here. It never was. These women were trafficked to these kothas at a very young age. Many were snatched from loving families. Some were sold into this life by their own kin. Except from hearing or rather reading about them as having been very talented singers, dancers, composers and writers, one has not come across any biography which chronicles their lives as happy ones. This film maker has glamourised them - Saawariya, Devdas and this one. I may have missed out on others. You people are doing a good job at critiquing. Carry on........ Cheers.
Even imitiaz didn’t think that much while making the movie…and made great movie….you guys should do something productive instead just criticizing…you criticize two amazing movies rockstar and chamkila…
im sure imtiaz thought much much more than what we thought when we watch his movies...we're trying to do something productive with our criticism & appreciation (all of us LIKED Amar Singh Chamkila -- just to different degrees)...if that didn't come across -- we apologize!
What a film is, more than anything else, is subjective. There are opinions from five people here about "Rockstar" and "Chamkila": with the former, not all of it is genuinely convincing for some of us (and that ought to be fine); the latter we liked to varying degrees. You're hailing Imtiaz's great filmmaking but also suggesting that he puts in less thought over two-three years than we did in a couple of days, that's not fair to him at all. You may not think our endeavour to discuss cinema is productive, but we do. And watch the whole stream, there's enough praise going around to make Imtiaz blush.
In case you people are wondering why i deleted comments imma not a hater and don't usually put down my negative comments. I liked you didn't. That's it.👍
Many critics have given bad reviews of the movie Danki, their words are not rejected, educated families should watch this movie because the movie is really good, it is worth watching with family.
Loved the episode guys. Please watch Mumbai Diaries S02. It's a phenomenal show. Infinite better improvement on season 1. S01 is brilliant too but you can watch S02 directly if you want. Everyone is missing that show. It needs to be watched more.
Student of the year and The Archies cannot be compared 😶🌫️ The Archies is something you can sit and watch anytime you feel like relieving the old era of Archie comics. Now the acting was not the strongest but it was mild and you can ignore it while enjoying the aesthetic and awkwardness of the comic characters. The characters were absurd after all.
