I Play a variety of old school sports games that aren't limited to the videos I've already released. If there's a game you want to see me play feel free to leave a comment!
Playing ABL games also increases recruit interest in your school as well. If you scout a freshman, attend their games it'll boost your chances at landing them. I played with Grambling and land a fab five roster. It took about 10 years but when i got em it was worth it.
I was having fun playing this, I was playing north Carolina I was 15-1 #1 team had been playing for about 5-6 hours, then the game crashed after I did a drill, I thought that's annoying but I'll just relaunch the game, opened the game back up and went to load my legacy only to find there was no save, It made me very mad because Autosave is a very basic feature that pretty much every video game has except this one.
I generally play 5 minute halves the first time I use a team to try to test individual players. Then if I decide to use that team again I use 2 minute halves. My question is do I get more scouting information or points for longer halves or is it the same regardless of the length of the half?
i only tested from 1 min half’s up to 5 min half and the points you earned for scouting did not change during this. you received 40 points for playing the game regardless of half length.
I really like the content here. I have watched for a little while on my personal channel. Would love to work with you one day as you have inspired my channel. Keep up the good work!
The problem is that world recruits are much lower than national recruits. EXCEPT recruits from Mexico, oddly enough. I recommend recruiting a minimum of 4 star recruits from overseas if you’re at your beginner school, 5 stars only at every school beyond that, keeping an eye out for mexican recruits, recruiting canadian players, and going after JuCO.
I like this game very much, you should do some more stuff like this….maybe a rebuild where you don’t play games but recruit and set lines. I did some thing like this myself with Tennessee but struggled to win in the playoffs. I never knew what to do…maybe you can try it out.
@@yerpmansports it’s not better but the recruiting is so hard in 2k8. In 2k7, once you get offered a job at a power or major college, the recruiting becomes a whole lot easier. Not the same for 2k8.
if you hold left trigger while defending it will keep you kinda locked in on them and move you towards them slightly but if the player starts doing a bunch a dribble moves good chances he will go right by you
i don’t yet, my best advice would be driving and shooting as many layups as possible. Centers are very overpowered. also turn on true shooting % so 3 point ratings actually make a difference
I play on the hardest difficulty but tuned the user shot sliders. 3pt shot, mid range and inside shots are on 60 everything else on 50. You will see more jump shots and layups fall.
Drill % varies on teaching, player potential, current drill rating, and I'm sure other underlying factors. I can't find any expiations on the web for this game when it comes to this stuff. Also, any idea what the red numbers and green numbers mean?? There's been many times where I train a player and they move from a red number to white number and then white number to green number. Again, no explanation found on the web... Good video overall!
red is going to be minus point and white is going to be plus points, at 1:00 in the video you can see i’ll gain 30 points in white for a perfect release on the shot but i lose 25 points in red for missing the shot. green just indicates your total score. yellow is the required score, really just color coordinations to help people not get it confused. Hope this Helps
@@yerpmansports I’m sorry I might’ve asked this wrong! Lol if you look at the individual player and their ratings. What do the different colors indicate there? My original thought of this was if it’s red they have a chance to regress or progress slowly (via simulated training), white means neutral, green meaning potential for this rating is reached..
haha all good, i think your along the right lines though, the way i look at it is i think white is normal progression, red is slowed and green is accelerated. meaning how fast each attribute will increase
@@yerpmansports awesome, never got an explanation of this and have been playing the game for years- glad I’ve been able to get some form of understanding.. thanks for the convo! 👍🏼
very late on this but i actually think that green means the player is close to upgrading the skill, white means their in the middle of it, and red means they just upgraded, hence why the numbers can change colors even for the same attribute. as an example, green could mean that the player is >80% to upgrading it, white could mean >40%, and red could mean >0%
If you coach a power conference, do you recommend to provide a tough preseason schedule where your opponents are ranked or have a 2-3 ranked teams and play mid majors? I coached UCLA and recruit 5 5 star and 4 4 star freshmen. Ended the season with 13-15 due to injuries and lack of chemistry despite changing the starting line ups consistently
honestly i would recommend not having a crazy out of conference schedule if you’re in a power conference bc your conference will be more than enough tough games to keep you ranked and get you in the tournament. player confidence plays a big part in team chemistry, if multiple players are upset it will significantly hurt the team, i would use as many pep talks and meeting with players as much as i can. also take into account the minutes everyone plays. if a guy is a starter one year and the next he’s 7th man he will take a significant drop. Some players when you recruit them their main priority is playing time especially 5 stars so if they don’t get enough in their first season they will grow to be unhappy very quick. Also need to take into account player experience when putting lineups together, it can lower a players confidence if they have no experience compared to the rest of the team having lots. one way to combat this is having a Coach on Floor.
each player gets a randomly assigned free throw best thing you can do is find one you really like and then change everyone’s free throw on your team to that one. free throws are very hard especially if your using different ones for every player
@@yerpmansports what do I press and how should the timing be because I’m doing a rebuild type legacy and I missed ever single one I took in the first game
@@claytoncook3862 go to options, gameplay and its at the bottom. You should be able to change it to the right stick. Mine was set to motion and I had to move my control like flicking a wrist to shoot. It is challenging that way.
Yooo bro, just picked this up locally yesterday. Was wondering how much my team’s performance effects my job offers when they finally start coming. I know on ncaa 10 your alma mater/picked favorite team will be calling no matter what
team performance highly effects your job offers more than anything the next best thing is coaching stats the game doesn’t care to much for top recruiting classes if they don’t perform
Hey I was wondering what offensive playbook or set of plays you use there’s only one play I have that guarantees an open shot but only against zone defense.
3 pointers are kinda funny in this game well shots in general as you play you will notice a lot of made shots where you felt as if you were playing really good defense and you were right in there face I think the game works more off of player rating rather than how well you can contest the shot, you should keep this in mind if you have a really good 3 point shooter, if you have even just a little space its worth the shot. I always run the All Plays playbook, in-game I typically will run a lot of Pick-N-Roll and Quick Post up plays, once my center gets hot enough they will start sending help defenders and I will kick out to the open guy. if you have a 3 point shooter in the corner, you can get a quick post up in front of it and back down the defender to the point where the corner defender will come help this will leave him wide open. you can typically do this at any spot on the floor my favorite is just the corner. One of my favorite plays is Double Cross 2, you can either take the first shot after the pass drive past the screen take the layup or have the other wing player open on the 3 aswell.
@@yerpmansports ok cool thanks so much I’m still fairly new to the game so its like my offense is just passing around until the shot clock winds down. Also do you have any game sliders that you recommend?
i don’t play on any sliders atm i do always run off 5 second closely guarded.. you use the buttons to do dribble moves and such i’ve found that if your on a fast break and running towards the corner if you press B for a dribble move you typically will go right past the guy for a easy layup. that’s my go to when i need quick points. Big men and Layups are very overpowered in this game i would use that to your advantage as your still learning
Love this game so much. Great tips! I have just recently found out that JUCO players are a lot like World players, in that the computer does not go after them very hard. So especially in the first years of a career legacy, I like to go after 4- and 5-star Freshman JUCO guys (because I will still get them for 3 years) and that helps me fill out my class! Also, have you noticed that sometimes when you have offered a World recruit a scholarship and you are literally the only school on his list at the end of the year but he still doesn't sign with anyone? Like he just doesn't sign anywhere...That has happened to me a couple of times and it makes me reluctant to pursue World recruits...have you seen that happen and do you know why it happens or how to prevent it?
once the interest bar reaches 100 that’s when you know they will commit if you add a WRLD player to late it’s hard to get the interest bar all the way to 100 because you can only do phone calls, i agree with the juco players they do typically come pretty easy i do sometimes have a problem that when they aren’t playing as much come their junior and senior years their player confidence is very low and often transfers out. the 5 stars are typically pretty good but 4 stars typically average out to the same overall as a high school players.
I would suggest always putting all the 4 and 5 star or any WORLD players you like on you board at that start of the season and always give them their phone calls each week, I typically wont offer them up until the end of the season if I cant get my high school players. once you offer the scholarship you will see the interest bar go up if its not at least 90% by the last week of off season recruiting it probably wont reach 100%. I hope this is a better answer that helps!
thanks man means a lot! honestly player development is kinda already set most players can only go up 2-3 per off season so based off their freshman overall you can kinda guess what they will be by their senior year. if you keep a players confidence up and/or play very well with the team throughout the season they can go up 1-2 overall over the course of the season. the best way i would say to improve players is if your team is playing very good with very few losses throughout the regular season most of your team will go up 1-2 overalls throughout the season.
theres also a training tab somewhere in development, where you can set specific players to work on specific skills for that week. it doesn't help a lot but if you want a dude to get just a bit better at something its great
Make sure too look for assistant coaches that have a high teaching and charisma rating. Charisma helps u attract recruits teaching helps the players develop.
completely agree. all stats on assistant coaches will go up over time kinda like a players rating as long as you have them working on it, and they have decent ambitions. if you do enough recruiting in one season with one coach his grade could go from C charisma to B in one season. this could be the case for any of their stats.
