So much more beautiful .... go into the old neighborhoods. The COMSTOCK HOMES.... The beach at end of Ocean. The. FOREST THEATER IN THE WOODS. SUNSET CENTER.... SO CHARMING.... No where in the world like it.
I was there yesterday - so interesting! I've been trying to find info on that beautiful what is now the Walnut Grove Community Center building just up the road. It looks like it may have been a school built perhaps in the 1920s or 30s.
nice to see my old home town again, lot's of memories here. Born here on July 22nd 1939, grew up at 1628 Broadway. Went to Edison, Lincoln and Alameda High, grad 1957.
I was a screw up, but would have graduated in 1998 - born in 1980 - lots of nostalgia for the town as well - its only real issue is that it is slapped right up against Oakland which has always had high crime rates. It really is a special place, and when I lived there, I took it for granted. It's so expensive to buy a home there now, no one can really afford it.
