I thought that with your irons, you keep your head behind the ball on the downswing at impact whereas your head went past the ball on the downswing in your final demonstration facing the camera?

Awesome explanation how the spine angle is created. I have been forcing the angle at address rather than letting it occur on the backswing and then trying to keep it on the follow through.

Thank you very much; we are glad you found the video helpful. That is correct; tour professionals do not lean their spines away from the target during setup. Their "shoulders" lean, but this is something very different. Leaning the spine can cause many issues!

Why, in the world, is he holding the club so FAR at address? Ridiculous!
@creamabdul-jabbar6722
@creamabdul-jabbar6722 Год назад
If you’re not holding it in the fingers though it’s not strong if it’s in the palm it’s still weak, that’s why alot of you still slice or hit a fade

If I want a draw I hold it on the fingers if I want a fade I hold it more in the palm.

When he takes a strong grip, he like jets the hands way in front of the club head. Not sure why he does that. Why not just take a strong grip and keep the hands inline with the ball, just like on a normal grip. u definitely don't have to move your hands way forward to take a strong grip.

You are also supposed to cup at the top if you play a strong grip which prevents excessive closing of the club face which he did not do.

It opens the club face, basically if hands aren’t forward at impact with a strong grip it’s hook city

Have played 30 years with a super strong grip and have hit maybe 5 shots in that 30 years that went left (right hand player) almost always a fade or fairly straight shot.....check out Brenden Steel on the PGA tour

Hi Gordon, thanks for your comment. Please note that we are not saying a "Strong grip" makes you hit/curve the ball left. We are saying that a "Strong Grip" makes you more prone to this as it closes the clubface relative to the back of the left wrist. Golfers can have very strong grips and still hit/curve the ball right, but other components of their swing must match up to create this (For instance, more shaft lean at impact like Dustin Johnson). The more extreme the grip, the more extreme the compensations is a good way to think of it. Hope this helps with your understanding!

This is a real eye opener! I’ve always thought tilting the spine was a good thing, mainly because that’s what the professionals seem to be doing! Great explanation of why that is not the case. Will try to keep my spine straight and hopefully this will help me keep my balance during the swing 👍🏼. Keep the videos coming please, breath of fresh air to get these insights and you seem a great partnership 👏

Hi Rob, There have been a variation of almost everything else, with even the hall of fame golfers. There are a number of variations with the grip itself, but there has never been a golfer who has played to any good standard with a 'heel pad grip' Thanks for getting involved, feel free to share to any of your golfing friends that may be struggling!
