What video card do you think would be best for a AT system? Recently refurbished a 233MHz Pentium MMX system and trying to find a good video card - My first through was a 3DFX card but finding one within my budget is rough - so I thought Riva 128 but then I read that AT boards sometimes do not support cards of this nature because of the 3.3v requirement from the PCI slot. I feel like I'm going to end up spending as much on random video cards trying to find one that works as I would have on just getting a 3DFX Voodoo 2.

getting error P5 when trying to play some CLV movies on its side B. any tips??
@DRCHRISTIANMD
@DRCHRISTIANMD 5 месяцев назад
Hello. There is nothing really beyond the videos. In some cases, it can be the tilt adjustment and many more adjustment pots in between. You will need the proper calibration gear like an oscilloscope and remember if you do source the laser Disc adjustment/ reference disc. It's usually a one-way road ( the disc can be destroyed by the calibration!). I have replaced or swapped lasers with more success from one drive to another. Now, one commentary on my videos pointed out that you need to calibrate the laser.. well, technically, you do. But we ain't got the gear in most cases. If you can find an expert, you will be better off. And remember, live voltage is inside these machines and pretty exposed, so exercise caution ⚠️!

@paubayes2002 could be disc rot on the said discs. Not always visible. I would leave be if your not confident. That said a new belt can help some times and cleaning the grip ring. Had to buy a Speedstar 24 and an EIZO 9080i as well. Ready to become "The CAD Pope" when I still was a student. I will rebuild an Intel i386 20 MHz soon, adding a copro. Had been given that board from an engineering office these days when i486 came around. Curious if it can be brought back to life with scsi and STRAKON running on it. DiCAD is still around AFAIK. THANK YOU SO MUCH MY FRIEND ! - The CD drive unit is exactly the same as in my NAD C541i...and it seems the load / unload drive belt for the draw is a common problem. It should ideally be a new (square section ) belt, if you can find one. To get at the belt, the trick is to withdraw the tray completely by moving outward the two butter-fly like plastic clips at the front of the draw, as you very kindly pointed to in the video...I just could not work it out till you showed us !!!. Then you can slide the new belt over the two pullies by raising the little black plastic cover a little, the one you said was just to cover the pully wheels. No need to actually remove the unit at all if you are very careful!!! Hope this helps someone?. Long live RU-vid !!

Just here cause my CLD-2950 broke down, laser issues. Around IC902,your vid seen at 10:15 min,Left of screwdriver, I found couple of bad capacitors, very leaky and totally off specs. C976,C970,C967,C987,C968. All were the brown ones, as there are also black case capacitors, those seems to age better.Without measure equipment you even can spot them due to corroded leads of them. So really leaky. Now audio-CDs are working, but very pick when touch the case of the player, it skips easy, LaserDisk, still not, so have to digg further, I do hope not adjustments of the laser cause lach of service remote and special LD-s .Damn, I am said. CLD-2950,was..., a great player, even already some degrading LD-s it still would play them, when other LD-player would reject those bad disks.

@@BackupChannel-i9c you want to understand I’m not going on about my skills, also I don’t have time to do a video because I’m busy repairing fuck ups because of people like you who think they can repair. It takes years to learn the skills you need to do this stuff. Laserdisc is not an easy one unless you got the tools for the job and an oscilloscope and know how to use it. Laserdisc is nothing like a cd player for setting up and even see videos of that being done wrong. These players are old and need a service and not someone just trying this and that. If you want to repair stuff like this and then learn electronics like we all had too. Yeah I got skills but took years to learn, not a RU-vid video and talking of RU-vid videos, do you know how many people are killed a year playing around with electricity because of what they see on RU-vid videos ? And also it’s not a well done job it’s called a fuck up because it don’t work and all because he don’t have the knowledge or skills to do it. With all things like video, cds and laserdisc,etc you need an oscilloscope and know how to read RF signals and eye patterns, etc to put these things back in alignment. Pioneer got an online video showing you all about laserdisc players and how to repair them if you look about. You think what you like I’m just trying to stop people making things worse or end up killing themselves playing with high voltage.

@francoisvanderwesthuizen1129
First of all, thank you for perhaps the most informative videos regarding LD players. Stumbled over your videos and would highly recommend each and every one of them. Being a complete novice, and only recently obtaining one of these players, I unfortunately ran into a issue where it cannot recognise any disk that is loaded. No disc error. Opened it up and it would appear that all mechanics is functioning Tray opens and closes both for CD and LD. Laser clicks twice up and down and I can see the red laser active. Laser pickup looks to be working as it moves on the rail. Clamping of disks appears to be functioning. But there is no spinning from spindle. I manually tried spinning it and it spins freely without resistance. No luck. Bands seem ok as well. Any ideas or options that I could further check perhaps ? Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of a doner machine or any technician here in Ireland 😉 that could take a look.
