Hello. Good review. I do realize it is four years old now, and perhaps everyone has moved on... But respectfully, I must agree with the respondents who can do without the social commentary. I don't even disagree with the viewpoints in question, but shouldn't games unite and help us escape the real world for a while? I feel there are tactful (and ultimately more successful) ways to represent, without prompting groans from half the audience. For example, simply show the character cards to the audience. Because let's be honest here, whether everyone is as vocal, topics well-known to be divisive can be (by definition) alienating to a lot of customers. So please, please, please... let's focus on promoting our fun world of gaming. Anyway, I ended up buying and loving this game based on an otherwise awesome review. I do agree it is a worthy "sequel" to Mysterium!
I just wanted to know how to play the game.. there's literally no reason for you to be constantly sprinkling in your political opinions every chance you get..
What's you problem with the color white for the positive and black for the negative? Why you immediatly think about the skin? Problems are in your mind maybe not in the colors
Thanks for this. I had gotten one of these for a VERY good deal, but since it's my first and only board game bag, there were a couple of features here and there that had me confused about their purpose.
Thank you for showing the 5-6-player expansion rules! I have people coming to play tomorrow and I like the expansion rules better than the base rules. It is amazing how many dice they can get into a game at this price point.
I own this game and I'm excited to start playing it. I didn't fully realize the legacy aspect of it. Will it be difficult/impossible to play different sessions with different people? I'd like to bring the game to a weekend get-together, but I'm worried about locking in those particular people as the only ones I can/should play with.
You can, it's just a bit more involved, you have to use post-its (or something to that effect. A specific color of small lego brick would also work) and take notes (like which envelopes and specific cards you've used, the points, who's gotten which sticker, etc.). Taking a picture afterwards also helps, to clear things up. For board altering stuff you could use post its or pieces of paper.
Hope someone who knows reads this. I live in the UK and want to get into this game, but cant preorder the remastered System Gateway or Update 2021 sets. The site literally ships everywhere but the UK for some reason. No idea why. I checked the seller theu recommend the Null Signal site and it says they are out of stock. I contacted them today - 17 July 2023 and am waiting for a response. If anyone can give any advice on how I can get a pack of official remastered starter cards in the UK, I would appreciate all the info I can get. Thank you in advance.
@@matthewbarker9134 I actually did get a reply eventually, 3 months later. They said they were awaiting stock and would get back to me, but I never heard from them again. Thank you so much for the info. Will have another look. Has anything changed or is the Remastered Gateway and Update 2021 sets the way to go for a beginner? Appreciate it.
@mazamonx I think they are defo the way to go. There's no rulebook included, but you can get a pdf of the ffg manual, and the company behind system gateway made a video for new players. Newbies might struggle if they don't have a veteran to show the ropes, or at least one dedicated member of their group willing to do the reading and translate for everyone else.
I’m late to the party here, but I just watched BGG’s Game Night play through of Cryptid, and you both randomly chose the exact same map and rules! What are the chances? It meant I knew the answer from the start, unfortunately.
I just want to say thank you for this review, it helped sell me on the bag! and like with the discount code(that STILL works as of this writing) I picked it up with the waist strap for $96!!! quite the deal! Thank you again! Now I get to be one of those "problem guys" at gencon this year haha. hopefully its not as bad as I think it will be haha.
Homebrew rule for this game. If you fall into a hole while playing on the 6x6 side roll a D6 2 times to find out where you'll be landing, if space is taken roll again. Same goes for the 7x7 side, but with a D8 instead. 8s are an automatic reroll. I've done this before for my games and it adds to the tension in a good way imo. Game is fun. Hope you all have a blast if you try it.
Who cares about the gender of the people designing the games? I don't know if the creators are CIS, transgender or whatever they are. They are designers. If their ideas are cool and the games are good, then that's great. Why is it bad that only 5% have non-binary designers? What's the % of non-binary people in the population? About 5% of US population is non-binary, so it's LOGICAL to have a 5% of non-binary people in the game design departments!!!! What's the point in making it look poor?
First of all, you think one in every twenty games is designed by a non-binary person? It's not even close to that number. If 5% of games had non-binary designers, that would be a HUGE win. Secondly, many, many people care about whose design they're playing. And in an industry where women are constantly marginalized and taken advantage of, representation ABSOLUTELY matters. Thanks for watching.
I’m confused on how you’re supposed to play with 2 players. If you need a partner and only have 2 players there’s no way to win or lose. But it says 2-8 players
