Thanks for watching! Yes, there is a winterization process in the product manual. It does say that a pump protectant should be used after clearing the unit of any remaining water.
This machine would be so much better if it would mow in reverse without the button like the 1 series. I wish Deere could offer me the option to legally accept this risk and then short circuit the darn button.
Just bought one. Had a 2015 D140 previously. Haven't used it yet, but thanks for saving me the time of being bored to tears reading the manual lol. It is almost identical to the old D140.
Hi Lee, thanks for watching! You're right, the design of the cab itself isn't that much different, but there are some new features that weren't available in 2006, like LED lighting and bluetooth.
Material collection system? You mean a grass catcher? Deere charges over $900 for that grass catcher. And they charge over $300 for the service manual. If it stops running and you get a fault code, all you can do is scratch your head and take it to the dealer, and maybe they will be willing to work on it.
Hi Peter, thanks for watching the video! Yes, we work on the Z370R in any of our service shops. We have 43 locations throughout the West. Here is a link to the owner's manual: www.deere.com/en/parts-and-service/zero-turn-mowers/residential-eztrak/z370r/ Let us know if you have any further questions! Thanks again.
Curious will this also work behind an X758 with 3pt and rear PTO options. I have a very similar Maschio Ditch bank flail on the back of my 5125R, looks about the same as that model on the back of your 4052R. I agree Maschio is a first class flail. Very high quality from what I have seen with the ones I have owned. Really happy so see they are now available from mg Deere dealer as frontier models.
Hi Fleetguy, thanks for watching! Great question. The FL1053 has a machine requirement of 1550 lbs, which means the X578 is a little light for this unit.
@@papemachinery.agturf Thanks for the reply. I thought that weight might be problem. Mine does have suitcase weights on the front, and rear tires are filled. So, I am probably close, but I figured best to go with the FL1061 and put behind either of my 3Rs or possibly my 4075R in pinch. Likely ideal fit for my 3039R OOS or cab 3046R. Ordered a Fl1061 last Friday. I did cross shop it with the Deere 370 and 25A flails but seems since Deere did this frontier deal with Machio, they discontinued all the Deere flails.
@jdfleetguy28 - the 25A is still available to order from John Deere, and so is the heavy duty flail. We have availability on any of these flails to include the 370 - while our inventory lasts. :)
@@papemachinery.agturf Interesting, my dealer said he tried to spec one to order and the system would not take an order for the Deere models, he said he dug into deeper and found out those models were discontinued, which we both figured it was due to this new Frontier deal Deere made with Macchio last year. I was attempting to get a comparison of the FL1061 to that Deere 370 Price wise there was a huge difference, still don't really know what made the 370 so much more money than the FL1061, but since it was not something I could order I just went with ordering the FL1061. I don't mind paying for quality, I however due like to know what make it so much better to demand such a big difference, it was near double I think was something like $4K for the FL1061 vs $7K for the 370 in ballpark numbers.
Hi Mark, thanks for watching the video! Please reach out to your local John Deere dealer and they can assist. Find our locations here: agriculture.papemachinery.com/locations
What should people in cold climates do in the winter with this zero turn? JD says storage at --4F but I live in a place that can have --20 below and I've seen solid research that says there is battery degradation below freezing (32F) on Li-Ion batteries. I may have to cancel my order.
Hi Mos! Jason says: "I think you have some legitimate concerns. Your extreme conditions may need you to look at some creative solutions. Maybe an external warming device like a heating pad or warming bulb on the days it dips below -4F."
Hi Mos, We didn't see a comment, and didn't delete. We were actually looking forward to finding out the course of action you'd take. Which model are you going with, for your extreme temps?
@@papemachinery.agturf Thank you. I'm very fond of my JD equipment, it has worked wonderfully well over many years and I truly hope this problem is resolved. This is my field and I know these batteries very well, a lot of people are very afraid of them because they don't understand the technology and chemistry. They are great batteries, every laptop, cell phone and garden implement has them BUT they must be used within specific parameters to function properly and last. You simply can not store these batteries or LiFePo4 batteries below freezing. I have asked JD for an answer on this but have not received one, the only solution I can see is to remove the battery pack for the winter and that is what I suggest those in cold climates do. I hope JD resolves this, I really like the total design of this zero turn, JD's revamp of the 3 series in 2023 really made this a worthy product. Hopefully next spring I'll be able to reinitiated my purchase or even a 5 series electric if they decide to make one..
Hello Mr. Bube, we're not sure if it's important, but if you aren't a fan, you're in luck. We've changed our format this year so our new episodes have no background track while Jason speaks. Plus, we've added captions for you to read if you'd rather mute the video. Thanks for the comment!
Hey Mr. GTM, maybe Jason was so excited he forgot that info! The John Deere 4052R has an engine hp of 50.8 and a PTO hp of 40.8 (with the PowrReverser transmission). Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, it's exactly what I was looking for! I'm debating between this or the FL1169S, but figured the FL1272S wasn't an option since it's for a Category 2 hitch (until watching this). How easy is it to use on a 4075r cab (essentially how easy is it to convert to a Category 1)? It would be on a 4075r set up similar to yours (4th & 5th, wheel spacers, filled tires, front end loader, etc.). I have rolling hills and hoping one of these models will really help with mowing around my ponds and into some harder to reach areas. I also have a 5m, so if it's easy enough to switch back and forth between Cat 1 and 2, then it could be an extra benefit. Thanks for your help.
Hey Boarderman, thanks for watching! It was a pretty easy swap for Jason to use this flail. Sounds like you'd really be better off with that FL1272S for what you need to do. Glad we could help you out!
so i have a 2012 1023E and it doesn't have the quick connect loader bucket ( it is permanently connected to loader)... and i have to disconnect the dump/curl bucket hydraulic hose to connect the mower deck raise and lower function each and every time i want to mow... it this still the case with current models?
Hi Dean, thanks for watching! Newer loader models have detachable buckets. Check out the 120E or the 120R loaders: www.deere.com/en/loaders/front-end-loaders-for-tractors/
Hey Zulk, thanks for watching! You can bump up to the X380 for a K58, or bump yourself up further to the X500 Series for more transaxle choices. The X570 offers a K72.
i was fearful of the low GPM that different forums were warning about, but that seems perfectly fine for me. I really didn't want to get a gas one and add more routine maintenance to my everyday life. Thank you for the video and testing it! I already have the motor and will get this now too. So now I will have 4 batteries with 2 chargers.
Nice tractor except except 3 things No arm rest, relocate fuel Fill to rear of tractor and maybe a more ergonomically design for loader joy stick come on John Deere this is a premium Tractor with a premium price
Thanks for the video. I seem to be watching your videos lately! I've had a 485 backhoe on my 3320 for the last 15 years and it has been terrific, absolutely no problems. It's a little hard to take off and put on but aside from that it's done everything I've asked in our hardpan northeast mountain soil. In fact I dug an 8 foot deep footing for my solar mount. I did break a couple of teeth over the years but that's it. Enjoy your BH.
Thanks for watching the video David. Wow!!! 80 hours a week on your mower? George Jones is a hero of ours too, but we wouldn't recommend actually using your X380 as a means of transportation.
Thanks for watching CJ! Sounds like you've got the hard part taken care of already. The AV20F grapples are hydraulic. We'll have to get a video up on those soon.
Thanks for watching! You can get Frontier/John Deere forks. Without knowing what size you need, here's a link to the AP11 size for you to check out: www.deere.com/en/attachments-accessories-and-implements/utility-tractors-attachments-accessories/loader-attachments/ap11-pallet-forks/
Thanks for the review. I'm getting the Deere with the 48" deck over this for a couple of reasons. I like the Deere is an IP66 mower, this is not. Also I like the Deere ergonomics better too. I see people saying they're only mowing ~1.25 acres with this but the Deere reviews are over two acres, some even close to three, none of the reviews I've read complain about range but they do with the EGO. The puzzling thing is the Deere uses EGO batteries (6x10amp). The math shows this with 12amp batteries actually has 4.032 kWh of energy and the Deere is ~ 3.5kWh. That tells me the Deere probably has more efficient motors or mowing characteristics. How did you find the steering controls comparing the two? (maybe I missed it if you did a comparison review)
Hey Mos, nope we haven't done a comparison video yet! Jason says: "Personally I find the steering to be a little more familiar on the John Deere unit. It's a little less twitchy, but both are easy to get used to if you use them for any amount of time. No wrong choice on this one."
My x354 is getting a little squirrelly - is there an alignment procedure that should be done? Any parts in the steering mechanism that should be replaced?
Hi Jimmy, thanks for watching! Yes, you can have an alignment done on your lawn tractor, and it may need it! Without taking a look at it, we can't be sure if there are parts that need replacement. You can find some simple alignment procedures with a quick Google search. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks for the video. I just ordered this with the 48A deck. First it's 10 ga. as opposed to 12 for the 42" deck. It also has three blades and motors. I know about not bagging but I did get the mulching option. I run off grid so this fits right in with our EV and other electric outdoor tools. Bought the Deere because of the brand and previous machines from them, also I prefer the sealed battery with the IP66 rating (forced water safe) so I can wash it without worrying. I can't wash my EGO 21" mower. I'll see when I get it if it's as good as I've been hearing.
@@papemachinery.agturf Thanks and I will. One more thing I found out in my research, the 48"deck option also has 20" rear tires over the 18" on the 42" deck.
You mentioned using a man lift on your 4052 with 440 loader to prune trees. The manual does not recommend getting onto the loader. Obviously it can handle the weight. Can you be more specific about how you do this?
Juist bought the 48" inch deck version. It's a better deck, 3 motors over 2 motors and 10 ga. over 12 ga. deck - big difference. We'll see how it mows and how the controls work over my gas z445 with the 25hp Kawasaki engine and 54" high capacity deck which gives a very nice cut. My house runs on solar so it's free to charge. I have almost all electrics now, except for my JD 3320 tractor which uses ~20 gallons a years and my old Wheel Horse 314-8 with a 42" deck. My car is an EV too, I haven' paid for gas in over seven years so I know the benefit of low maintenance and no gas bill. The 25 Kawasaki does run through gas but it's a great zero turn.
