Horrible service. Sends you food you do not choose, when you ask for a refund because they send you food you did not select they offer you 20 dollars even though you cancelled your orders before receiving anymore shipments. Their meals for diabetics contain added sugars and too many carbs to truly be considered low carb. The American diabetes association guidelines for a low carb diet should only be considered by those with their diabetes under control, with low supervision from their doctors. Any dietary advice for a diabetic that has you going over 100gs of carbs in one day is essentially medical malpractice. Additionally even if you previously select meals that do not require prep, they will just send you whatever meals they feel like and say you selected them. Horrible service, worse than nutrisystem, essentially a scam masquerading as health food.
Thanks so much for leaving a comment and for your thoughts on the diabetic options! That can be super useful for anyone concerned about their dietary needs who wants to look into it further. Sorry you had a negative experience otherwise with the customer service!
Thank you! I wish my grocery had more of these than they did, because based on what I tasted, a lot of the ones I see on their site were probably really good!
Gasp! This entire review should be null and void because I didn't say "to the table", but we'll pretend this happened in a parallel universe where the table is just an illusion. Thanks for watching and for all of your comments and support!
I refuse to do business with Thrive Market because they won't let me see what they carry without signing up, I'd probably spend a ton of money with them but instead they get nothing, good day sir (Willy Wonka, member?).
I said good day! 😄 I've heard of Thrive Market, but haven't looked at it. Maybe I'll add it to my list of places to potentially review. Thanks for the comment!
So you heated them in the microwave instead of the oven, ate out of the paper containers instead of plating the contents, and used a plastic fork instead of a real one. Not a very appetizing presentation.
Yes! I don't advertise for the companies I review, and this isn't a cooking channel, so making the food look appetizing with its presentation isn't the point. It's showing the food as it is to give people an accurate view of what they're getting, and as the average person would eat it. There are definitely channels out there that focus on plating ready made and microwavable meals though if you're looking for that!
You should definitely do more of these videos reviewing lines of frozen foods i really like your quick straight to the point reviews without all the filler like other vids. Between this and the lean cuisine video you definitely earned a sub from me! Keep it up please!
Thank you so much! I do have more reviews coming. I just haven't had time to upload lately because of work and life stuff. I'm glad you want more of these! While services are important to review, I think a lot more people can benefit from seeing what everyday grocery options are like, so I look forward to covering more brands and products. I prefer leaving out all of the frills to just get to the basics and show the food as-is, so I'm really happy you appreciate my format.
I just found you and subscribed based on this review alone. I’m not well and cooking right now is difficult. I tried Blue Apron’s prepared meals and was incredibly disappointed. I will say that their customer support was wonderful; I got a full refund. I’m interested in CookUnity and your review really answered all my questions. I’m going to try this service based upon your review. I don’t understand why you don’t have more subs, your review is comprehensive and you have a great personality.❤
Thank you so much! I'm sorry to hear that you're not well and that your experience with Blue Apron wasn't great. I do hope cook unity works out for you!
Second video I have watched of yours: you have to be in engineering, software development, or website/product design. If not, consider this your call to action
Haha! None of the above exactly, but I am a designer and have done work providing feedback to companies on product and web design, so I do use my powers for good here and there. Thanks for watching!
Holy shit, congrats since review was amazingly thorough. You eliminated as much variables as possible while still testing all aspects and possibilities of each meal. You are like the Project Farm of food reviews, which I intend as a compliment. I am simply leaving a comment to help you with the algorithm because so many have stated the same.
THIS REVIEW WAS AMAZING. Very thorough... and thank you for reviewing each of the meals individually. Also thank you for enduring food poisoning on our behalf.
22:44 weird reaction from you. I can't tell if this was an individual reaction to a strong-smelling cheese, OR is it somehow old and out of date, and it's an actual quality issue. Is that possibly the way this Cuban dish should smell? Please take the time to figure this out. What seemed like a good review, now I feel like I have to re-consider. How much of the earlier "spiciness" comments do I also have to chalk up to you individual taste? Please, stick to the facts, this is supposed to be a review, not a reaction video.
Thanks for leaving a comment! I watched what you linked to since it's been too long to remember. I said it was a stinky cheese and that the smell was strong for my taste when it first hit my nose. No objectivity exists beyond that because it's food. Everyone's taste is different, so they're all individual reactions by default. If I thought there was something wrong with the cheese or anything else worth mentioning to explain my reaction, I would have. I didn't watch past that part, but I vaguely recall that being one of my favorite recipes from the review, unless I'm thinking of another one. Your reaction to someone's opinion about the food they're eating sounds like you're looking for something my channel isn't for. But there are tons of other channels you can watch. Choice is the beauty of RU-vid, so I'm sure you'll find something you like!
Sounds like you just don't like vegetables lol so far it's spinach, tomatoes, water chestnuts, snap peas, broccoli. No hate just think you don't like a lot of veg
I love vegetables! But how they're prepared and with what matters. In frozen and ready made meals, those are some of the most common that tend to be flavorless or have bad texture, so I don't like them. I still eat most of them throughout week since I'm the one cooking them. There are just dozens of veggies I like more that I eat every day. Except water chestnuts. I genuinely hate them. 😂 I think "not liking vegetables" is such a common stereotype, especially in America, that if you mention not liking some of them out of the hundreds you eat, someone will eventually say that, so no worries lol
@@mealbeforeme Oh trust me, I was just joking at ya lol I hate tomatoes and onions and this causes many issues with lots of meals for me lol Love your videos, sorry if it came across sassy, I was just messing with ya :) all love
I haven't seen you do the budget kits yet such as Every Plate and Dinnerly. Personally I prefer the choices on Dinnerly better, which is owned by Marley Spoon, another one you could try lol and Every Plate is owned by Hello Fresh
I think the chicken that is breaded tends to be more spongy and the unbreaded has that woody texture. Probably from the soy protein that they add to it but I'm not sure lol I also hate celery so I feel you there. My mom never put it in her soup or stuffing and I loved her for that :)
Three cheers for your mom! Celery thinks it's sneaky, but we know when it's there lol That's interesting about the spongy chicken. It's just so noticable, but only in frozen meals. I've never had frozen chicken tenders or nuggets that taste like that. One day, the mystery will be revealed. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the comment! I've been considering it but it's almost never on sale at my grocery store and I'm cheap lol I'm definitely keeping it on my list for whenever the price does come down though.
Thanks for watching, folks! This one was a surprise. Let me know your favorite Lean Cuisine meal and drop your weight loss story in the comments for anyone interested if you used the brand for dieting! Also, I was playing with the plastic on the last meal because it seemed like it melted and fused together in the microwave, which concerned me. It turned out it just stuck together at the fold, but I've still never seen that happen before. ETA: These meals had the same issue I have with all frozen dinners compared to meals I cook. Their flavors are more muted as leftovers, but that's not an issue since the only reason I had leftovers was because I had to make them all for the video. Otherwise, I'd only heat up the one I'm going to eat.
I started getting unsolicited emails from them recently, and I haven't even done any internet searches for these meal delivery things. Just out of nowhere, spam, spam, spam. That's enough of a bad sign for me to steer very clear.
I hear ya! I was quickly reminded how much of our information is shared when I started getting bombarded with junk mail from services I haven't tried just because of the few I have so far. No email but it's still annoying having my mailbox flooded. Thanks for leaving a comment!
CookUnity also has awful customer service. They post that they have "Live Chat," but there is no live chat. There's no way to reach them with questions other than a delayed email. Most of the time, they respond by answering a question that was not asked. Perhaps the attendants there are not fluent English speakers, but there's a frustrating disconnect in comprehension. There are so many hurdles & tech problems with their site, I'm not sure they are worth the trouble.
Someone who doesn't consume dairy for dietary or ethical reasons doesn't need to watch a comparison like this since only one of the choices is an option for them anyway.
Is there another ready-meal company like CookUnity? I'm not thrilled with 50% of CookUnity meals, but I am a Foodie who loves different ethnic gourmet cuisine. There must be competition for CookUnity?
I review companies as I come across or hear about them rather than researching companies of a specific type, so I wouldn't be able to recommend another service I haven't tried yet and I can't think of other ready made services right now except Factor. Sorry, I can't be of more help!
Certainly for some. I always say that all of these services are pricey for what I personally spend, even without the discount that made these cheaper. But there are a lot of people spending that much or more on fast food or other meals that want to get away from that without having to cook, and that's where services like this one are great. Thanks for watching!
@@mealbeforemeindeed. I am currently using Factor (for about a month now) but am getting a little tired of them because the flavors are too similar for me. Looking for a good premade meal plan…perhaps I’ll try this
I love most of these meals because I am on weight watchers and they have the points listed for each meal. They used to have more desserts and they were good.
I'm glad they still have the points you can follow in the program! I heard about the dessert but didn't see anything about why they stopped making them. Thanks for watching!
Good job! "Garlic with a hint of feet," ugh. I'd love to see you review Evol or Fat Rabbit. You are talking a little bit fast, though. Slow it down, you have good content and it should be savored! <3
Thank you! I'll look up those brands to see what they are. I do speak a lot faster than I mean to. It's the New Yorker in me. I remember to slow it down for all of a day before speeding up again lol I promise I'll stop forgetting. Appreciate you watching!
Thanks for your honesty. I stopped buying stuff like this while back. Took the time to cook from scratch now and portion out and freeze. Make these items without excess sodium and chemical aftertaste. I check the frozen aisle every few months to see what's new and then try making it myself. Less expensive too. Like your approach and info.
Thanks for the comment! Cooking is pretty much always the best option across the board. For people in different situations where they have to rely on other options, I look forward to exploring what's at the grocery more.
@@mealbeforeme I should also mention that on my road trips do buy frozen meals with a salad kit. Most places have a microwave. Being on a budget does not allow eating in restaurants very often. Glad you are providing info on these products as so many for a variety of reasons do need to use these meals.
These were definitely something but you can't go wrong with the breakfast meals. Thanks for watching and please like the video if you liked it to help it spread!
Ooh, I'm glad you have it so close. If you're near one of the kitchens, you maybe have it delivered in the delivery bag rather than the box. Hopefully you're enjoying it if you're already signed up!
Thanks for the comment! It was so different from the other ones, I couldn't imagine that's how it was supposed to be. I was hoping there was just something going on with that one just with the texture. Not like it had gone bad.
Lol Same. I always wonder if people who love coffee everything think stuff like this tastes good because to me, it's not even like coffee. It's kind of like dirt that smells coffee-ish. Thanks for the comment!
honestly great reviews. you show a lot of points other reviews dont and focus on the food and cost rather than why the company itself. honestly love the reviews ive seen
Thank you so much! I chose to make my reviews this way exactly for that reason. To try cover things other reviews may not that will be helpful to people. Appreciate the comment!
