From my days as a rock drummer to more modern times of experimental keytar drock, I've waded through the music revolution from Abbey road studios and Vinyl records to the digital home mixing desks that could churn out a demo cd, to the dawning of the DAW. And so too I saw the birth of the digital era with the likes of digital synths and the invention of Midi. The pathway has not always been an easy one, knowledge of how to use these new inventions were not always part of the inventors plans but today we have the internet and knowledge flows from one good soul to another, so let us join the flow.
I do my mixing in the bandlab DAW & unfortunately on phone I can only export the mixed/mastered song from the project as a tiny AIFF file which is low quality & often distorts. I can get WAV version exporting from project on laptop
if you wanted to change sound on the Roland keyboard, could you assign one of the drum pads on the keytar to send a midi program change message? What setting would you use?
@MikeTaylorPiano Hi, yes you can, that would be a program change. You should be able to download the program and tones list for your Roland keyboard from Roland.com... This will have the program number, LSB number and MSB number you will need to add to the pad settings in the vortex wireless 2 editor (check out my editor videos on how to set the pad settings).
Trev, have a question and was wondering if you might have the answer, or at least be able to give some insight. Bandlab makes it plain as day that an individual can not get paid off of cover songs , which is completely understandable. I think they may even not allow, or at least frown, on even uploading cover songs. My question is this. Weird Al did not have copyright approval whenever he would cover parady a specific song. I just read this on his Website several days ago. He didn't have it because the style of cover he was doing, rewritting the lyrics, was gave him license to do just that. He would acknowledge though. I'm a talented singer but vocals is my department. Not instrumentals. I ask because I've rewritten a good amount of songs. They are not parodies but moreso lyrics that give insight about the dangers of religion, tribalism ect and the negative impacts they have on our world. And some what would be considered "modern pop adult secular" rewrites as well too. I read through bandlabs copyright info and didn't see anything that answered this question. Naturally I don't want to do anything Im not supposed to. But naturally as well do feel i have some possible hits on my hand and am asking where could I post to gain traction if not bandlab? Your insights are always appreciated sir.
@ChristianEdwards-me9rm Hi, first let me say that despite what you might read on the internet, no one is exempt from copyright. Copyright law is quite complicated so I am not surprised how many people do not understand it. In simple terms, copyright means the owner has the right to request that someone does not use their copyright material and request a payment for any use of the copyright material (usually based on how many plays and/or how much money was made from it). In other words, the copyright owner has to be the one to enforce their copyright and there is nothing that says they have to. Record companies typically have enough money to enforce their copyright and some will block anyone using their copyright material, but some will seek a payment and some may not do either. Here in the UK, some of it is controlled by the Musicians Union. Record companies generally have an arrangement with streaming websites about how to respond to cover songs. To complicate things further, exactly what is unique enough to actually qualify as copyright material is hard to define. Also copyright laws can be different in different countries. Change a note or a chord here or there, sing different words and change the tempo, etc and your song will probaby be different enough from the original to no longer be a copyright issue. Sites like youtube will usually inform you when you upload a song if there is a copyright issue (and may even let you know what options are available to you).
@IbandUK Thank you for taking the time to respond. "Fair Use" rights have become a lot more strict in the social streaming era. You pretty much gave the same response as the Dixie Chick's attorney, who has several RU-vid videos posted that cover copyright, fair use, copyright law suits ect. So it sounds like you know what you're talking about, which is what I expected, and why I asked. He was able to put a perspective on it that I had not prior thought about, and that's that certain re writes/adapted covers can add to the value of the original sometimes. I'm a talented drawing artist as well and because I know you're an artist, I do need you to know that I would never infrginge upon another's work or even alter it w/ out giving them the proper credit due. But as well I'm also fully aware that there's "nothing new under the sun" as they say, and that every song, story, work is at is true essence a work of similar inspiration, inspired by what can only be countless others over the passage of time. Because of that I do, would have, always will, at least have the common courtesy, professional respect,h to acknowledge those whom have inspired myself, when/if, I've used their content. @sanjava6560 Tap on fx on a track record screen, tap on your preset in the My Presets section, then near the bottom of the screen appears the name of your preset and three icons. Tap on the middle icon (preset edit icon). Your preset will now open on the fx edit screen. Make changes, then tap on 3 dots at top right of screen and either tap on save to change the preset settings or tap on save as to create a new preset.

one question am i allowed to publish a song i made with the loopers i used of the app? cause the song i made is only with the loopers and i just need my lyrics

My studio isn’t working properly it keeps saying disconnected Bluetooth device or gives me an error code how do I fix it I’ve tried both deleting and updating the app
@miles385 Hi, It sounds like the app is trying to connect to a device or service that is being used by another app or device. So first try turning off Bluetooth. Also, watch out for other apps you have installed that might be causing the problem...
@IbandUK very helpful. I can mix my vocals for singing no problem, but for just speaking I was having some issues. You cleared up what I was doing wrong. Haha
@THEYAROXGAMING Yes, within the limits of bandLab (track limit etc). Using bandlab to convert all songs to the same tempo and key scale before mixing will make mixing easier.
@santone99 I use my vortex with my psr s670, so you should be able to use it with the sx900. Yamaha arranger don't usually have much midi control integration though, so apart from playing sounds, pitch bend, mod bar and possibly changing tones, the vortex probably won't control much else. You may want to check out the sx900 midi implementation chart. Wireless connectivity will probably require a USB host device (like the Kenton) or a couple of CME Widi devices.
@kordelwilliams5770 Hi, the vortex wireless 2 editor is only available as a 32 bit app and does not work on 64bit only macOS (so basically has not been compatible with Mac since Catalina).
@mykindofenglish I had the mix pane closed (bandlab call it console). It can be opened/closed by clicking on the double arrow icon at the bottom right of the screen. Apart from the edit pane (middle pane), all the other panes have a double arrow icon to open/close them.
@byegena The De-Esser can target either, depending on the frequency you set the frequency slider to. Usually the S sound, that the De-Esser is designed to reduce, is around 6khz...so you would be targeting 6khz (a high mid frequency).
@SreekumarNair I'm glad you found my video helpful 😀👍 The effects are applied after recording, so yes you use the effects on a pre recorded acoustic guitar mp3. Harmonic effects and reverb can be quite effective on acoustic guitar recordings.
Can somebody just explain how to do this in Bandlab instead of having to download something? And then from the web version.. are you serious that so many people use their phone to generate music???? Seems counterproductive if you ask me, but jeesh.
Thank you man you are a lifesaver! I just happened to have a splitter cable and a 3.5mm cable laying around, and now I can record my guitar without buying any extra gear! let's go!
