That was an excellent trip down memory lane! I remember playing many of them, as FFVII tuned me into a major squaresoft fan at the time. FFIX is my favorite FF game, I highly suggest you give it try when you feel like diving into a fantasy RPG. Love that standee btw
@@michaelbilin9056 I thought that too until I added the extra piece of windshield weatherstrip for the 91-up models, made a HUGE difference in quieting the cabin at highway speed.
Great episode. I just bought a slim and fat boy PS2 and started collecting PS1 and 2 games. I was always a PC supremacist so I'm basically starting from scratch. I have some more games to add to my 'to buy' list thanks to this vid. Glad I found your vids, I enjoy them.
Great episode, I love this series. Very impressive you've been able to collect enough to make seven of them. Final Fantasy VII has to be my favorite of the bunch.
Love these videos man. Do you have any other publisher spotlight videos in the works? I know you arent big on RPGs but a Working Designs one would be awesome. Konami, Namco, Interplay, or Psygnosis would be amazing as well.
@@stephensloniker1761 I already have a Namco one posted and also did a full Working Designs retrospective of all their releases. I considered Konami but there's a lot of junk sports games I don't want to track down.
@@Bubblun1 I didn't know about the Namco or Working Designs vids, I'll be checking those out for sure. Konami does have a lot of filler. Your presentation of the games and overall thoroughness with these subsets is unrivaled and super appreciated. Your Jewel case variant collection is still the coolest collection related video I've seen when it comes to PS1. Will you ever try for a full NTSC set for PS1?
Everyone has their own take on the FF series. I've seen people argue for nearly every separate title as the "best" at one point or another over the years, though 6, 7, and 9 are frequently argued as the best mainline entries. FF9 in particular is frequently cited as the best modern entry due to some welcome innovations in the job system and a return to a classical high fantasy setting. I also believe it was the last game Hironobu Sakaguchi directly worked on in the FF series and his personal favorite as well. Tactics is my all time favorite PS game. Front Mission 3 is up there for me too. Parasite Eve is a cult classic RPG, extremely well regarded among RPG fans. The second was more action oriented and didn't land as well. Anyways, amazing collection 👍
@@EmperorFoxx It's funny how well they hold up compared to the competition of the era. I think being exclusive to FuncoLand at the time hurt their profile compared to all the newsstand options.
I’m 42 issues away from having every issue, really hoping to find a good deal on Issue #1 one of these days but eBay has insane prices for it (the listings have been up for months and nobody is buying).
I say good riddance to the magazine that Gamestop basically shoved down your throat every time you visited their store. I can’t believe it took this long to die.
didn't know game informer has been around since right after I was born. I have a ton of gamepro ,EGM magazines from the 90s and early 2000s but not really any game informer until the early 2010s from gamestop.
@@mcdonkey500 The distribution was pretty limited in the early days with the small footprint of FuncoLand stores mostly in the Midwest and no newsstand sales like the other mags of the day.
Ooooh, that MUSHA, I wonder if that's calling out to Captain Algebra. lol Kudos on the pickups, especially completing the Marvel NES subset, very nice. I was also checking for magazines and guidebooks, but yeah, it was tough to find any, especially that we didn't already have.
@@Bubblun1 Aw, you're missing out! He's a fellow RU-vidr, and like us, has been hitting up MoGameCon for years now. The man is obsessed with Sega at the moment, going for a full CIB collection in fact.
When I saw the How To Use This Publication I immediately thought of GameGo! Issue 1. The Game Informer subscription was the only reason I ever bought GameStops power up card.
wow the end of an era. The writing is on the wall gamestop is next and then our hobby is going to get really weird in regards to physical gsmes. that first issue is awesome, would you ever get it graded
It kind of sucks it went under some abruptly. There really aren't any gaming mags anymore, at least for current games. Very fun to look over the first issue, thanks!
I've also been hunting Coro Pata for a long time, glad to see there's one less person out there competing with me 😅 great pickups, you had an awesome month!
i love finding those little clips of cheat codes or folded pieces of hand written cheat codes inside a game. that copy of musha is really nice. that dragon fighter and silver surfer are nice. the con was meh this year seemed Jr was way better imo i wish there was more collectors selling than a majority of tables being retail stores.
@@DiehardtNG10 I thought the original was corny on PS1 with the jank graphics and then generally don't care for open world games for the newer generation titles.
Love the color combo with the red interior. Love to see the Greg fuel lines installed. White is such a classic color for German cars. I have a 1988 S4 Diamond Blue.
i need to go to that convention in il. egm ealry ones are somhard to find . that game players looks so familiar i swear i remember seeing it on the shelf at schnucks.
That Game Players magazine with the old school Mario 3D render will haunt my dreams and I love it. Happy you completed another subset. I enjoy watching those videos a lot.
@@PreferredDimension It's wild how long Game Players/Ultra Game Players was in print with C-tier production like that. Not far from the norm for their covers.
I always liked the US SNES better then the Europe one , we had N Converter for our US games , where you put the Converter in your console and had to put your US game in it and a EU game at the back of the Converter to work🎉
