I'm a retro gaming fanatic! I review retro games, dive deeper into individual games through my storyline summaries, and revive all the nostalgia of my childhood. Basically, I bring the best games of the past to light again!
I specialize in RPGs, but love lots of other games too.
6? No no no! There are only 5, we don't talk about 6 nor do we count it canonically. Some sad mobile game that was only available in Japan and out for barely a year a 6th Breath of Fire dose not make.
Looking forward to giving this one a try. Been a Star Ocean fan for awhile, sadly though I missed out on New Hope, Integrity and now Divine Force. Finally getting a chance to play through, decided to follow chronological order Integrity - Divine Force. Integrity seems to have the most mixed views, though even the positive reviews seem to ride the line of "it's an alright game."
I just realized after watching this scene again - Cloud was so ashamed he never even visited his Mother. That was all a fantasy of what he thought the interaction with his Mom would be. This game is still giving me new discoveries to this day.
This game was very underrated! I beat it in elementary school (the PS1 version) along with Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and seeing this on my suggested page brought back so many memories!! The music was soooo beautiful on both also! Thank you!!
Legend of Dragoon will always hold a special place for me I played other JRPGs but Legend of Dragoon was the first story that I got into I wrote Legend of Dragoon fanfiction while I was still in kindergarten, it was one of the first video games I remember watching and helping my mother play. Legend of Dragoon shaped my writing for better or for worse people say too this day I write like I'm trapped in a badly translated anime with archaic words. The worst part for me is I know the Legend of Dragoon too well. I tend to skip over things just to progress I don’t think I have fun playing so much as I have strategic goals I meet for each point of the game. That's why I'm always surprised when I learn something new about this amazing classic.
I just completed BOF3 and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it, I’ve started to get into the series a few years ago. Even going through the hardest bosses and enemies and leveling up to get through Myria Was worth it, too Breath of Fire III had a great story and Character and enemy designs. This will hold a very special place in my heart. Thanks for making a video about a retrospective, I’ll now check out the other games since I’ve beat the 3rd game.❤😊
It's a damn shame we don't have a port of the original F-Zero with proper 16:9 support and up to 4 (or maybe even 6) player local multiplayer, similar to Super Mario Kart ZX.
Sigma Star Saga for the GBA is the spiritual successor to The Guardian Legend and while it does have problems, it's an excellent game that deserves a remake and sequels. Note however if you're playing it specifically on the GameBoy Player accessory for the GameCube, the stock boot disc introduces lag that can be a problem for this game, so you should use the homebrew GameBoy Interface (GBi) boot disc instead.
i love this game so much, it's one of my favourites <3 I only played the first Grandia recently for the first time and I get people that like that one but I wasn't as into it as the second one
My favorite games are Chrono Trigger, FF3/6, the Suikoden series, Valkyrie Profile & FF7. Baldur's Gate 3 did a great job of adding many layers of options & complexity, but most of it is bleak, hopeless, perverted nonsense in comparison to older RPGs.
The battle system is one of the best. The biggest problem this game has is how the saving is handled. You go long periods of time without being able to save.
This is the only game I remember beating in the arcade. I think it was 1990 or 1991. Actually it was 1992 i think because it was beside Sega's Stadium Cross which i played after i beat Magic Sword. I love this little game. Im grateful it came out for PS2 which I still have in my collection...
i've finished this one. Its linear but its a pretty decent game with a nice story. Definately worth playing it unless you the type that wants to play only the best of the best. The original version that was on the pc engine had voice over
I dunno Xygor I kinda just can't seem to stick with a Wild Arms game long enough to beat it. I've played 1-3 and I even really liked 2 and 3... I don't know what it is. Partially the games have some annoying mechanics that almost weigh up to the fun unique ideas. The first game is just so hideous to me, and I just have a hard time looking at the ultra crude 3d characters. I wish it looked more like 2. I never tried 5 but maybe it would be a good time to go back and try to get through it.
Breath of fire 4 can be confused as a PS2 game,as a matter of fact its more beautiful than some ps2 titles(Ex. suikoden 3 🙄) if Only the bosses were spritebased like 3 it would have been soo beautiful
grandia was the best rpg i ever played...and replayed so many times with different mods...good old times i was a kid with no responsabilities and just have fun and have adventure... G2 was amazing too... too bad we will never see again a game like grandia...
I agree, Cadash was terrific! I've played a ton of it over the past few years, enough so that it feels kind of easy to me now! The four-player linked cabinet mode is not emulated by any program. MAME has so far completely refused to even try. Not even the official emulations of Cadash support it. The ONLY way to play Cadash with four players is on the original arcade hardware. It's hard to believe, but true. I saw some time ago that there was an alternate version of the first level, presumably the one that players 3 and 4 begin at. It begins in a different kingdom, "La Heim." It can be selected in the Debug Menu's stage select and played! There doesn't seem to be a way to play it on a single cabinet setup, making it nearly lost content.
Battle of Olympus is one of my favourite NES games. Solid music and gameplay, and a lot to discover. It's a shame the game hasn't received much love in the ROM hacking community.
Yeah, a part of me wonders if an ex-dev from the Zelda team worked on these, or if they decompiled Z2. Guardian legend basically steals the Z2 music for the space levels.
I also love this game, possibly more than any other game ever. I think one of the reasons why this game is so revered, despite it being pretty old and tedious by today's standards, is because the story is clearly allegorical. I think anyone who grew up with this game probably has it deeply embedded into their subconscious at the very least. Also the music and imagery and everything else help. Just a masterpiece. I know that it's not super likely, or definitely won't happen soon that remake for this comes out. I wonder if square or enix or whoever runs things now would be able to make a compromise and make this into a long form film. Or perhaps even a miniseries... That would be super cool in my opinion.
finished suikoden IV when i was in middle school, it was the best memories i had, though yeah, the majority of environment is the thick blue sea, but still it is good imo
I used to play this while babysitting my cousins back in the day. I really liked it but the mapping/travel mechanic is wonky and the password system made it real tough to use without camera phones lol. I still like it and want to finish it one day.
