Rien d'extraordinaire, cette version ... Dessay était faite pour l'opéra et cette chanson elle, est faite pour être chantée par une voix masculine. Il n'y a guère que l'harmonisation ici de ce titre génial, qui vaut le coup.

RELATED INFORMATION AND LINKS Rossignols! Such was the title of the concert at the Théatre des Champs Elysées on the 6th Ocotber 2004. The voice of Natalie Dessay and the trills of the bird singer Johnny Rasse accompanied by Shani Diluka on the piano brought the audience into the clouds, over the sea, over the meadows, into both morning and evening landscape full of birdsong. It was a magical experience full of beauty, poetry and humour. RELATED INFORMATION AND LINKS As far as I know, there is no photo of Natalie Dessay singing the arietta "Da schlägt die Abschiedsstunde" from the performance of "Der Schauspieldirektor". Therefore, I will try to describe this scene from the beginning of the second part. Imagine a petite girl with long black hair, barefoot, dressed only in a black camisole. She emerges from the dark background of the stage, leans against the bright portal and begins to sing. Then she slowly crosses the stage, intently immersed in her sad arietta, and the cone of the spotlight follows her to the portal on the other side of the stage. It is touching and impressive. In 1991, the 200th anniversary of Mozart's death, opera houses performed many of the composer's works. Director Myriam Tanant, in cooperation with conductor Claire Gibault, chose Mozart's singspiel "Der Schauspieldirektor" (The Impresario). In April and May 1991, four performances took place at the Amphithéâtre Opéra Bastille, in which young singers performed. Natalie Dessay sang Madame Herz. For the needs of the production, "Der Schauspieldirektor" was supplemented with several arias and a duet from another Mozart singspiel "Zaide". Other recordings from the performance "Der Schauspieldirektor" can be found here (we will add them gradually): The recording of the tercet "Ich bin die erste Sängerin“ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HwiGDk51R8M.html Zaide's aria "Trostlos schluchzet Philomele" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pJOughOInIc.html Zaide and Gomatz's duet "Meine Seele hüpft vor Freuden" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XOiImWthBkA.html Zaide's aria "Ruhe sanft, mein holdes Leben" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SrgcB8vznPs.html We are preparing complete information about the production "Der Schauspieldirektor" for a video about Natalie Dessay in the 1990/1991 season. RELATED INFORMATION AND LINKS As far as I know, this June 1992 recording is the earliest complete recording of Zebinetta's aria "Großmächtige Prinzessin" from the opera "Ariadne auf Naxos" performed by Natalie Dessay. The recording comes from a concert that took place at the Hôtel de Matignon in Paris on June 21, 1992 as part of the "Fête de la musique" festival. Natalie Dessay then sang only this one aria with piano accompaniment. Apparently, this was an opportunity for her to test her interpretation of the aria "Großmächtige Prinzessin" in a public performance, since at that time she was already studying the role of Zerbinetta for a production at the Théâtre Graslin in Nantes. After the success in Nantes in January 1993, Zerbinetta became one of the pivotal roles of Natalie Dessay. As Zerbinetta, she performed in Vienna (Wiener Staatsoper), in New York (The Metropolitan Opera), in Bilbao (Teatro Coliseo Albia), in Salzburg (Salzburger Festspiele) and in Paris (Opéra Garnier) and she also recorded a CD. For comparison: There is another early but incomplete recording of Zebinetta's aria performed by Natalie Dessay. On July 31, 1992, the opera "La prova di un'opera seria" (Gnecco) was performed at the Montpellier Festival. In this comic opera, among other things, two rival singers show off their singing skills. Natalie Dessay in the role of one of them (Violante Pescarelli, seconda donna) sang part of Zerbinetta's aria. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JeyuY6TtbxE.html Before Natalie Dessay became famous for the role of Zerbinetta, she sang the small role of Najade in the opera "Ariadne auf Naxos". Richard STRAUSS a tué de nombreuses voix. Je me suis souvent demandé si le rôle de Zerbinetta et celui de "La femme silencieuse" abordés plus tard n'avaient pas été à l'origine de ses problèmes de cordes vocales rencontrés dans les années 2000. Mais il ne s'agit que d'une interrogation, d'un doute et personne ne pourra confirmer ni infirmer ce "soupçon". Merci pour le partage de ce court extrait.

RELATED INFORMATION AND LINKS As for Richard Strauss' opera "Ariadne auf Naxos", Natalie Dessay became famous mainly for the role of Zerbinetta. She sang it for the first time in 1993 in Nantes. But at the beginning of her career she interpreted the small role of Najade. It was at the Montpellier Festival on July 28, 1990. The recording contains part of the scene from the end of the opera, in which the three Nymphs, Najade, Dryade and Echo, announce to Ariadne the arrival of the stranger, the god Bacchus. RELATED INFORMATION AND LINKS As far as I know, this September 1990 recording is the earliest recording of Mozart's aria "Der Hölle Rache" performed by Natalie Dessay. We can thus imagine how Natalie Dessay interpreted this aria at the beginning of her career.
