Hi, you will waste an incredibly large amount of water. You will also most likely not get enough pressure on the membrane resulting on very little or no product water.
Hello, very interesting video. I have a goulds resiboost vfd pump also so according to this video i can also hook a 20 gal pressure tank and it would save on energy consumption? I'm wondering if that's the case then would it not have been better to use a standard Gould pump with pressure tank instead of a vfd pump without a pressure tank.Which set up in that case do you think would use less energy?
Hi, you gain the most if you have a VSD pump that you can set the turn on and turn off point with a tank. Something like the hms1500 works really well for this. If you can set for example a target pressure of 4.5bar and a turn on pressure of 2bar it would benefit from a tank. Not all pumps can be set like this though, for example the DAB Esybox doesn't allow you to set more than a 1bar pressure difference this a tank doesn't make sense with it.
Dear FilterShop, I had one of this pump at home but I am experiencing an issue which no one knows how to fix. When I shut the valve the pump is making a squeaky noise towards the end of operation. Would you be able to advise if this is normal? It did not make noise orignally after installation but now it does. Many thanks.
Hi, difficult to say from that information but I would check the non return valve at the back and make sure it is clean and moves easily. The pressure buffer tank has a rubber bladder in it could also be that. There isn't much you can do about the tank so I would first check the non return.

Hi Guys, not sure if this is possible or not, maybe you can tell me or if you have any other suggestions. Can I set the pump to switch on when a flow rate is exceeded rather than when the pressure drops? I have a large property and I suspect that there are a few leaks in the water system and as such my current pump tends to cycle about once every 2 minutes to keep the pressure up (I have a pressure tanks as well). I have a low positive pressure on the whole property as the tank is at the top of the property, I would like the pump to switch on when a tap is opened and increases flow rather than when the pressure drops. Is that possible with the DAB's?
Maybe have a bypass with a check valve going around the pump to the outlet, then set your restart pressure to just below the static pressure from the source
Is there a gap between the doors ? Just finished mine and there’s a gap in between the doors ? also find the corners in the front to be a little loose ?
Noticed that you have a new set up by discarding the 3 shower heads. It's great to see water being saved but i could not see how powerful the water flows at all those pressures that you were testing. It would be great if you could set up 3-5 shower heads (capable of maybe 20 l/min each) pointing down into the water tank for recycling. And for the viewers to gauge how strong those water pressures you are testing, you can put a flat surface between the shower head and the tank. The splashes may give us a good indication on how strong those water pressures are. We can relate better when we put our hand below our shower head at home.
Hi, With this pump it is much higher flow, to put it in perspective it would take 17 shower heads to test in a similar way to the normal tests. The pumps that make sense to use for a domestic setup but can do high flow like the HMS1500 we tested on both the 3 shower rig and on the high flow rig. Thanks for the feedback though.
Is it possible to modify this so that it can be used in the US? Third Scala 2 just sprung the usual 2 year leak from the rear drain vent. Thinking it's time to change brands. Any recommendations on units to get in the US? Lawn is starting to die. TYIA!!
Hi, I would look for something that has a multi stage pump. An option might be the Dab Esybox as i think there is a 110v version of it. They are unfortunately a bit more expensive.
This is just a first step, you then take the water through something like a sawyer mini to drink it. It will still have a lot of chlorine in though so it wont taste great unless you remove the chlorine with a carbon filter.
Where are you based as in South Africa Dab has quite good support and a good repair center. I would contact them and hopefully they can sort it for you.
This is not the best pump on the market. It is the most expensive and breaks easily when installed incorrectly which is 99% of the time due to diy online sales and the customer not wanting to pay for a professional installer. To service this unit is also a nightmare. It is only made for clean water. Rather spend the extra money on an DAB Active Driver 1.0 M/T with a DAB K35/100 T or DAB K45/50 T. Once again, get a professional installer for this kind of setup.
