I started listening to Beegie About seven years ago. I love her playing. Very cool very melodic very hip.. I would say that in the last seven years, I have listened to her music hundreds of times she never disappointed. RIP Beeg.
I met this lady in Ghana Accra, during a musical programme, when she was a part of the team called ICARE led by Scot Wesley. She is a fantastic woman, sings with a great touch!

A great demonstration! Such a good ending for blues. An underrated one I’ve been using lately is what I call the “Louis Jordan” ending, used on his song “A Chicken Ain’t Nothing But a Bird” and “I Want You To Be My Baby”.
It's the first time I've heard it. However, it is immediately apparent that he is a skilled pianist. This is because the neat touch, brilliant and somber phrasing, and profound tone are reminiscent of the "musical life of bitterness" there......... Can't believe this is my first time hearing Donna McElroy. What a voice! Great command of musical motifs to coin her memorable style. Brilliant! Round Midnight is a wonderful piece to showcase her commanding talent.

Thanks for making this! It was my history teacher (Walter vd Leur, who you mentioned wrote a book on Strayhorn) who made me conscious of the depth of Billy Strayhorn as a character and musician. I'm now reading David Hajdu's book on him and I want to learn more about this crazy and beautiful guy whose mother called him Billy hahaha!
