@dnickens20115 been working on riding gnarlier terrain! I enjoy the fast and technical stuff... until I crash 🙄 Dirt bikes definitely help with the mountain bike technique quite a bit
Nice ripping out there man looks like you're doing well.. I've been wanting to go out there to Thunder Valley and ride ..track looks great ...I see you still have the Husky..😁👍🔥
Thanks David! Just so you know this is Thunder Valley in Colorado (not the TN one). I moved out to Colorado about a year ago! If you ever wanna come out to CO just let me know🤙🏻👍🏻 hope you're doing good these days
Wow man you're killing it out there that looks great this track is in Colorado have you ever met that guy named Deo?. He does videos on RU-vid from that track all the time he's riding a Yamaha 450 now.. can't remember his number
Bike sounds awesome! I'm a 43yo life long rider and think Colorado is stuck in the 80's in terms of motocross. The tracks are built for the top 10% of riders, but the middle 80% would show up every damned weekend for a track they didn't have to risk so much on gap jumps. That's my feeling about recreational motocross in general, which is dying in many areas, and most riders over 30yo are moving to x-country and enduro. We have to show up to work on Monday and can't afford to be Robbie Knievel on the weekend. There are tracks out east with large jumps that are thriving because they are built with safety in mind. Replace gap jumps with big, rounded table tops so you can never land short or case them. Make rounded step-ups and step-downs without the gap between the face and the mound, and tamer jump faces which have a lower risk of kickers are a good start. Think about a solid vet track plus a few larger jumps and rollers.
Hey, I ride at thunder all the time and I feel like I've seen you before. I just started to record myself and and found your channel. Great video I like the camera setup, I'm still figuring mine out, HAHA.
Hey man. Sorry just saw this. I just do the chin mount setup with my GoPro Hero 9. I just use the standard settings. You gonna be at thunder valley this weekend? I moved to CO in August and I'm still looking for people to ride with
Man looks like you're doing really well out there that truck looks great too I don't understand how you say it's no traction unless maybe it was slippery and muddy otherwise great video😁👍🔥
That track is great and I love the flow akd long lap times, but that dirt is deceiving on camera. It definitely is tough to find traction sometimes, especially early in the day before the track is broke in
Does this track have any amenities? We're working on a new project and trying to get as much accurate information as possible so asking riders is the next best thing seeing most track owners don't respond lol. Like porta potties, trash bins, picnic tables, all those would count as amenities.
The track has Porta potties and trash bins. I've also seen them have a fire at the track on a cold day before . Off the top of my head I can't think of any other amenities the track has
What's up! I 100% like the Husky more. I loved the Yamaha - that was my first MX bike. But the Husky beats it in a lot of ways. The power of the Husky is super linear and friendly for my kind of riding... I actually bogged on the yamaha a lot more. The Husky handles so much easier than the yamaha, I notice it the most in corners. It's so much easier to handle in corners because of that. And, I'm a heavier guy. I think the stock Husky is better suited for someone a bit heavier than the average 160 lb MX rider. If you're comparing the stock bikes, the Husky is just a nicer bike. I had to do quite a bit to the yamaha in terms of aftermarket parts to make it how I thought it should be. I haven't had to do a thing to the Husky.
Thanks man! It's actually just a stock 250! The 2023 Huskies sound pretty deep in the low RPMs. The track was sick- gonna be a must visit everytime I go down to FL
Thanks David! Was down in NW Florida for the holiday and so you know I had to take the bike with me 😎 that sand was a blast! And the Husky is treating me pretty good too
Wow man you tearing up those ruts like there's no tomorrow.. looking really good out there... I would love to come out there but their hours are too early... they close too early
Thanks David! Getting after it man. I just am starting to feel really good pushing it and it looks to me like I'm definitely improving which is the goal. I've got plenty of maintenance to do soon (chain/sprockets, cam case gasket/valve alignment, fork seal, tires), but I'm hoping to get a couple of rides in before I take a break
Thanks man. When I'm out on the track I feel slow and only think about all the mistakes I'm making, but when I go back and watch footage I can see I'm getting faster. Honestly the step up is pretty forgiving and it's not too bad, just gotta get on the throttle
It's a dope layout for sure! I use the GoPro hero 9 black. I film in 2.7k quality but I only upload up to 1440 in youtube. The settings I use are Max Superview lens, 2.7k/60 fps, and I keep hypersmooth max on.
Also forgot to mention that was pretty cool to be able to get the guy in front of you in on video kind of gives you a perspective of what the track looks like
