any particular reason you opted to put the ULXD below the kemper?

Before we had an antenna combiner we used to put our kempers on top of our cabs, and our wireless would then just be closer to each of us

Any advice on getting powercon to supply my unit? Looking everywhere but I can’t figure out how to wire everything into one powercon line
@konanhall6611
@konanhall6611 11 месяцев назад
Hi mate, I’m a qualified electrician by trade so its something thats a bit tricky to undertake yourself but if your competent you can definitely do it. I usually hard wire all the power to a single powercon by twisting all the LNE (live,neutral,earth) together and tinning then soldering to the relative contacts on the powercons before heatshrinking everything then using a d sized rear cover over the back. I would not recommend this unless your qualified or seriously know what your doing as messing with mains voltage can cause death 💀

do you think it's wiser to go with KemperStage units or rack units nowadays? just wondering which is the most ergonomic. I'm planning on building a rig with fully automated midi switching to kempers. I guess the downside in Kemper stage is that you'd have to run your main outs back to the X32 and that would be an extra cable run
@konanhall6611
@konanhall6611 11 месяцев назад
I’d say definitely kemper racks or QC’s racked. setup and teardown for live shows is always the focal point of all my rig building along with weight. Keeping everything in a “Rig” allows setup to be done off stage or sidestage then running pedal boards out at show time is much easier than running out whole looms then testing midi changes etc before the show

Thanx a lot for your very interesting video! Could you kindly tell me the name of the splitter and maybe where one can buy it? That would be very nice cause it seems like a very reasonable splitter in a 32-channel context but I can't seem to find it anywhere, especially not in Germany... Thank you in advance! 🙂

@@regnifelrub He said in response to an other comment that he wired it himself. I'm curious if this is a transformer-isolated split then?

Just found this video, and I'm also interested in an update! The alu rack design looks great, and I'm already googling for machining workshops near me! Our band is on our second IEM rack in 5 years, and there is room for improvement.

Can you tell me what’s the point of the splitter is? I thought that’s the whole point of the X 32 was that you can stick UTP/CAT5 cable into it and run it to the mixing board. In that way, the X 32 would have the same function as the splitter. Am I correct with us or have I’ve been misinformed?
@konanhall6611
@konanhall6611 Год назад
You can definitely run the X32 & S16 via a Cat5 and have it run as the FOH, however doing so you will only be able to use a midas or behringer desk at FOH & only have a Trim on you FOH console, not full control of gains. You are also limited by the IO. For example the midas/ Behringer routing is in groups of 8 and you only have 16 outputs. We are using 8 outputs for stereo IEM’s and 4 mix bus are assigned to FX so even though not assigned to physical outputs im using 12. Leaving 4 remaining. Now say that the FOH position is where you are feeding main L&R from you would have to assign 1-8 or 9-16 as local on the FOH console leaving me only 8 on stage. Meaning that i cannot run wedges as-well as IEM’s on stage. Even if FOH main L&R feed was on stage, im limited to 4 outputs. Another issue is Panning, as Pan on Midas / Behringer m32/x32 for the FOH mix would effect Pan on the mixbus also, you can unlink channels and pan using faders but its a pain. TLDR: Better to run as a stand alone dedicated IEM mixer, thats whey we split it, then you can run any FOH console not just limited to Midas/ Behringer & no matter the change in room/ environment/ mix out front, the mix in our ears is the same and consistent every single show.

This is awesome. Perfect for what I was looking to do with our band. A few of questions. What Pelican cases do you use? Do you have any blue prints for your racks? I have a metal shop and was thinking of making my own. Finally where did you get your splitter? I've been looking for that kind of multiline splitter but seem to have no luck. Again, awesome and thanks for putting this on here.
@konanhall6611
@konanhall6611 Год назад
Hi mate, sorry for the slow reply. The peli cases are 1607 & 1637 I just designed the racks around 10/32 tapped rack rails, you’ll be able to do it yourself easy. The split i wired myself but you can get from BTPA in the USA or Custom Lynx in the UK
