I would say Maya is better located and would give you access to all four properties (except Grand). Maya's buffet was better than Beach/Del Mar. Then, there is pyramid building which we visited every evening for coffee, ice cream and live music. Keep in mind this is as of couple years ago. Hope this is helpful.
What time of year was this filmed? I was there week of january 10th and only had 1 good day of snorkeling with waves much stronger and visibility only around 15 ft (posted on my youtube). I'm hoping to go back someday and experience the same crystal clear visibility and calm seas you did!
Thanks for watching! It was filmed in the end of November. Actually, we got a few days of really calm waters and I took the opportunity to capture these videos. We got lucky, I guess. Other days, weather was good for windsurfing and sailing as there were wind and waves. Check out this other video from the same trip. At 3 45, our catamaran flips on turn :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QDSjRNf_KcE.htmlsi=l_5v_S-ZB1zYC36h
@TravelXOne that catamaran flip was hilarious! On the windy days when I was there they closed down the dock entirely as in no watersports were allowed because waves were too big. Wave height was approximately 1 to 2 m (3 to 8ft or so) depending on how far out you'd go. Resembled the north Atlantic more than calm carribean haha but it sounds like I'll have to go again sometime in November to get better visibility. Thanks for letting me know!
Waves 2m?! Wow, that's big.. As for clear visibility for snorkeling, Hawaii is good in that regard as well as Jamaica. Here is from our recent trip to Oahu (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B6n8wjtY5x4.html) and Jamaica (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7yyU5vOx8vc.html)
What time of year was this filmed? I just got back from here and whole week waves were huge 1.5m therefore had 0 visibility no matter how far out I swam

For snorkeling, I usually go with 60 or 120 fps. Resolution is 2.7K+ (ideally 4K+). HyperSmooth is on (not Boost). I find the best lens to be used under water is Wide. Going with SuperView or HyperView (GoPro 11+) makes footage very shaky at the edges. HyperView is fantastic for capturing immersive videos in dynamic conditions (e.g. surfing, skiing, biking etc.). Also, I prefer 16:9. However, going with 4:3 (or 8:7) is great if you need to cut for vertical clips afterwards. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy the trip!
Many shots from Lindo and Maya, not just Beach. My wife and I visited Paraiso Beach many times. The last 2 times was in 2022. We won't be returning. The new management has let the property really go downhill. Water dispensers and ice machines don't work in the buildings. Room service was cancelled. Entertainment and shows are gone. Some ala carte restaurants no longer offer our favorite menu items. Much of the staff are far less friendly and accommodating. When something breaks down, it does not get fixed. All they care about is trying to sell you on timeshare presentations.
Thanks for the review. How was the beach, food, daily activities? Is there an extra charge for the evening shows/performances at Paraiso Beach? I read on TripAdvisor that the Iberostar Del Mar charges extra for shows.
AMAZING SHOTS! You've just earned a new subscriber! Which side of the beach did you capture this amazing coral, stingrays and eels etc. A friend of mine snorkelers of barcelo maya palace Beach during his stay and he didn't see these corals or rays or sea turtles. Where in the barcelo maya grand resort is the best snorkeling as seen in your video?
Thanks for subscribing! Area between Palace and Tropical is the best to see turtles, stingrays and barracudas. There is lifeguard tower. There is grassy area in front of it about 30 yards from shoreline. Turtles are there: goo.gl/maps/Cpi8bRDgSagnGuaPA. Eels, lots of fish and colorful corals can be found around this area: goo.gl/maps/HQJVmRZuADk74KFe9. Lots of huge elkhorn corals can be found right behind the limit line here: goo.gl/maps/2gjt5R51wnDBtgLfA. Hope this is helpful!
Probably not. We stayed at Suites but enjoyed grounds/restaurants/pools of all 4 properties (excl. Grand). So, I have no idea what is off limits for each property.
While you’re not allowed to, if caught they’ll just redirect you back to where you are allowed. So if you give it a shot and get denied, it’s not big deal. If you have small children they likely will not stop you. Been there 3 times since they’ve built the slides and have had my fair share of fun despite not being allowed to be there.
