Doesnt get talked about much, but this one might be up there with worst Byu losses. This AZ team finished 5-7 and lost 45-3 the next week to LSU. If they win this one, the only loss is to a good BC team on the road. Maybe couldve gotten a better bowl game.
Rewatching this game now. I understand more why Taysom would not make a good NFL QB. The game is way to fast for him to stand in the pocket with happy feet. This has to be one of his most tentative performances. Love the guy, but I can see a lot of flaws in this game.
Wow, I have seen some dirty games, but I think this may be the worst I have seen from the Utes (and that includes the 1987 Utes who went over to the BYU student section with twinkies and immitated blowjobs). Throwing snowballs at the team while they leave at halftime, okay, not classy, but so be it. But then to continue throwing them the rest of the game, in the middle of plays?! What a bunch of losers. The cheap shots and late hits from Utes all game long was telling too. I don't know what is more surprising, that anyone shook hands after the game or that I have Ute friends at all.
Notre Dame's defense in '15 was absolutely horrendous....up with 30 secs left, leave a guy wide open!!! Kelly was/is such a farce....had the Heisman Trophy winner in '23 and still managed to lose 3 games!
I am a Vol fan and TN really should have lost this game. But nevertheless it was a terrible season. You thought after this game it would be a good season
Craig Bohl disciplined the cowboys star running back, Brian Hill, for violating team rules and did not allow him to play the first half. He effectively sabotaged the cowboys in their first bowl game since losing to Temple years prior in the New Mexico Bowl.
This game is a good example that Arod does not call pass plays over the middle. This video had 2 all game and both were only to the line of scrimmage. Teams are noticing this and offensive struggles will continue until it’s fixed.
As successful as we were in 2023-2024, our defense still could not compete with the defense from this year. I miss our smash-mouth, strip-happy, safety/corner lurk defense. Most of all, I miss our defense that could tackle. I hope that Steve Belichick can whip our defense back into shape.
I was in the stands at this game. The energy was so intense it was palpable. I was seated above the end zone where Harline caught the game winning pass. The crazy thing was how silent the stadium fell at that moment with the exception of us BYU fans celebrating the moment. We started getting pelted with food items and trash from nearby Ute fans. We had to leave immediately to protect ourselves as the mood turned sour almost instantly once the game had ended the way it did. "Harline is STILL open!"
Alongside this game, and its highlights, someone should check to see if that evening's ESPN Too 10 Plays of the day could be included. Play #2 was a game winning catch in the end zone by Idaho, the receiver of that catch is Tanner's older brother. Play #1 was Tanner's throw to Mitch Matthews.
Everyone has written off the Huskies for 2024 because of the departing players. They have Oregon finishing near the top but the Dawgs are pegged for mediocrity. But I'm holding out hope that once again we can prove EVERYONE wrong.
