Thanks for answering all these questions. Pizza is my only “bad” food I love. Sorry to hear about those stomach issues.

Never knew that you were a Bernard Cornwell fan! No wonder we get along so well. What about C.S. Forester? However, I'm betting that you probably don't care for George MacDonald Fraser, author of the Flashman novels. We'll probably part ways on that one, because I love the Flashman series as well. I enjoy serialized historical fiction in general.

I want to play Tomahawk but I’m short 5’5. It’s my bros nickname. I also want to play Kull the conqueror because the saying by this axe I rule and a tomahawk is an axe among other things and Kull is shorter than Conan and I can get shredded to play the part

Comix book is cool. Never seen one in the wild . I like those Fallout books.

Congrats on the continued growth of the channel. For my question: Every collector has a regret-a book they saw in the wild but did not pull the trigger on, a book they parted with but decided they wanted and could never get back, etc. etc. So what is your biggest collector's regret?

With Comix Book, I think I read somewhere that at the last minute Stan took Marvel's name off it because he didn't it to hurt Marvel's image. I speculate that might have limited it's distribution in the mainstream while simultaneously by the time Marvel got involved the whole underground scene the old system for the edgier stuff ( like head shops etc ) was starting to dry up.

I had the complete set of Comix Book that I found in a quarter bin back in the early 80’s. They were sold about 10 years ago as it just wasn’t to my liking and I made a profit for comics I really wanted.😁 Good to hear your on the mend. Cool old Nancy Drew… good luck with that venture.👍

Romance comics always cost at least $10.00 when i find them at comic shops or small conventions in my area.I usually look on Ebay for lots that equate to about maybe $7.00 a comic for them(although the comics usually are about a 3.0 to 4.0 in grade).Hey i have to take what i get.Romance comics are a hard collect it seems.

Hey we both have a complete set of Tender Love Stories… not many can say that I bet. I lucked into a nice copy of Tender Love 3 in a $5 bin. Those Art Capello covers are so good. Congratulations on acquiring all these beauties. Yes, complete the Barbie set.😁👍

I would put the covers for the first 11 issues of Conan up against any 11 issue run in comics. They’re just perfect, from the trade dress to the colors to the composition, stunning covers. Same for the later Smith covers but those first consecutive 11, too me, are just excellence.❤

One of the runs I have complete. Issues 17 and 18 have Kane interiors as well as covers. !8's cover is Kane/Romita. These were not fill in issues. If you read the letters pages, Smith quit the book after #15. They needed a fill in for 16 so reused the Frost Giant's Daughter story. 17 and 18 were Gil's work, and he was going to be the regular penciller moving forward, but Smith decided to come back and Roy rehired him, and then Smith immediately ran into deadline issues leading into the jam issue in 21 and the reprint in issue 22. There's also a story out there, there was an issue of Barry's pencils that got lost in the trans-Atlantic mail and they had to jump through hoops because of it (it may have been why the did Frost Giant's Daughter in 16.
@themrp4424
@themrp4424 27 дней назад
Also of note. John Buscema was who Roy wanted to draw Conan from the get go, but because they weren't sure how the book was going to sell, they thought he was going to be too expensive because his page rate was so high, so they went with a cheaper option. Kane is of not too because he had actually licensed Conan to do a comic before Roy and Marvel did, and it was going to be part of the line he tried to launch with His Name is Savage, but the line failed and he never did the Conan comic, and let the rights lapse,which is when Marvel picked them up. It was Kane who introduced Roy to Conan as well. via the books, when Gil was trying to get the Conan mag off the ground.

That Studio of Windsor-Smith, Jones, Kaluta & Wrightson was probably the most artistic talent pool under one roof ever, I’d say even rivaling the EC bullpen in its heyday…

I really enjoyed your thoughts on this set. I’m only missing the first 16 issues as I’m going backwards to complete it. As you stated the BWS art is just spectacular. Btw, Astonishing Tales, Sgt. Fury and a few others had those Oct GS issues as well. Thanks Scott.👍

I thought it was very good. Short on story but really strong everywhere else, from character portrayals, to the quality of the CGI, surprises (I saw it almost immediately to avoid spoilers and I was pretty successful outside those in the trailers), etc. There are a lot of better movies that I will never watch again but I will definitely watch this movie again, if only for the portrayal of Wolverine. My wife had the same complaint about the annoyance of Deadpool but I like to think that's intentional. You tend to forget the trauma of his origin and how that would make anyone completely out of their mind. My only complaint would be I was under the impression this was going to be the end of all the multiverse stuff but it looks like that will continue, at least for awhile.

I agree that it wasn’t as great a movie as hyped, I’d rate the Deadpool movies 1, 2 & 3 in that order, though it was a better Wolverine movie than average, especially the different versions and homages (surprisingly impressed by the Ultimate version)… Guessing we’ll have to wait to Secret Wars to see the 616 and 10005 universes actually collide… Good popcorn fun though…

As a toxic hetero Gen X, I sure appreciate that #12 cover ! It's awesome in it's depiction of women in their classic fantasy roll ... Sitting in distress behind a dinosaur waiting for a man to rescue them.😉 You literally couldn't get that cover published by any company today 😡

Nice work 👍 I'm going to like and subscribe. I think you just revealed that Warlord was the only title to survive an actual DC Implosion cancellation. What did you think of Grells art on Green Lantern and LSH ? Couldn't help but notice that Warlord #2 cover almost looks like it was inked by Steve Ditko 🤔🤔😂🤣

Interesting vid. I don’t use grading services and am gladder every day that I don’t.😁 I haven’t talked to Thomas since the 90’s but he was very cool back then. There was a time some time ago where I heard he had some minor input into Wolverine but I don’t recall the details. It seems that as you say he is trying to cement his legacy which is already solid stone.😁
