A channel where I ramble about books and my opinions on them. I look forward to sharing my ups and downs with you all. Feel free to sound off with your own opinions, especially if they differ from mine.
I’m a mom, a wife, and an awkward introvert. Books are one of my few enjoyable ways of interacting with others. I also have several craft hobbies that you will likely see more evidence of in the background of my videos as time goes on. I’m an amateur writer that’s still working to finish something. 😅
Always attempting to better the multiple skill sets incorporated in creating my videos. Learning as I go and having a blast doing it, but please consider this an open invitation to share any advice you may have on stop motion, video editing, scripts, etc. All respectful and constructive criticism will always be welcome.
You can also follow me under the same name on Litsy, Instagram, Goodreads, StoryGraph and now Fable!
The only problem with watching other book tuber channels is that it increases the tbr. So many books and so little time. Best wishes with what you choose to read.
Interesting to hear about your reading plans! And yes, I have the same problem. I was hoping to read way more books this summer, but only got through half of what I was intending. Fun video!
@@JamesRuchala I knew of him for a while but just now got around to picking up one of his works. This year has been full of new to me authors. It’s been fun finding “new” people to read.
I like your saying "pile of possibilities" better than TBR. 1,114 books!! I think that I have a few hundred. I buy books to read for later because all my buys are from Thrift Stores so if I wait to buy them they will be gone when I go back to buy them. You have a lot going on. Good luck with all that. Thank you -James & Bella!
@@Littlebiglibrary I like pile of possibilities too. I think I’ll stick with using it to refer to what I’m currently attempting to read. TBR is more the ambiguous overall list I’d like to get to within my entire lifetime. 😅 I was shocked at the number too! 🤣 I also buy mainly second hand and used to work at a thrift store and had a really good employee discount. I came home with new books pretty much every day.
I understand the problem with video games. At 66 years old I have been gaming forever! I have over a hundred hours in Metal Gear Solid 5. I have had to make myself slow down from playing so many games and for so long.. Louis L'amour is my favorite Author of all time. Westerns are my favorite genre. Thanks for sharing. -James & Bella!
@@Littlebiglibrary I really enjoyed the first few Metal Gear Solid games but fell out of touch with them and haven’t played 4 or 5. My husband is usually the gamer, so it’s pretty unusual for me when a game takes precedence over my other hobbies. 😅 I love Westerns but this month I didn’t choose many good ones, except for the L’Amour one. 🤦♀️ Thank you for watching and commenting! I hope Bella’s doing well. ❤️
@@MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Bella is doing well. Except for the heat gives her a belly rash. I have to give her Benadryl. Thank you for asking. -James
I'm planning on reading Khaless, Pliable Truths, and Crossover. All of these are TNG books with Pliable Truths having a DSN connection and Crossover having a TOS connection.
Well, I was thinking that I might would like to read the book about Bears until got you became so emotional. Because I love Bears but I will not watch any more documentaries about Polar Bears. The last one that I was watching, a Mother Polar bear and her cubs walked for days on the ice pack and finally saw a seal laying on the ice but due to the lack of snowfall and snowdrifts the seal saw the bears from a long way off and the seal slid away under the ice. The Bears have nowhere to hide and sneak up on the seal and the mother seal can not hide her pups under the snow, so they just lay near the opening of the ice. It made me sad to see the Mother bear and pups starving, I didn't finish watching so I don't know what happened. As for events like June on the Range, I never participate in any events or tags. I don't even do a TBR. Because being an adult, married, and having a 9 y/o grandson I really can't see me sticking to any kind of a schedule. Plus I maybe read 2-3 books on a good month. So my TBR would be me holding up 1 book. I enjoyed the video. That was the most Emotional review that I have Ever seen! No shame in it though because I understand. -James
Thank you, James! I was taken by surprise at how emotional I got just talking about it. The future of polar bears is very, very bleak. Reading about it was hard enough, I can’t imagine watching it. I’d probably bawl like a baby. My TBR is usually just a lot of hopefuls. I don’t always get to all of them. I have a very busy toddler and work two jobs, so I can definitely understand the not having time thing. 😅❤️
You probably got emotional because you was visioning the world that your son will have to live in. I do the same with my grandson and then I worry if he will have a nice and happy future. It's understandable.
Yay! Another BookTrekker! I'll definitely be watching your BookTrek videos! TNG is my favorite. I was 12 or 13 when it aired (I'll be 49 in July), and though I had seen reruns of TOS and did like it, TNG took my heart and is still my favorite Star Trek to this day.
Yes! I’m so excited for this event and for the opportunity to connect and geek out with more Trek fans! Really looking forward to all the videos from everyone. ❤️ Do you have an overall favorite character?
@@MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I don't have a favorite character, but Dr. Pulaski would be a strong contender... but I don't say that too loud in the presence of other TNG fans! 😂 If forced to choose though, I'd probably go with Data!
Welcome to book trek! I grew up with TNG and it's my favorite of the bunch as well. Good luck with Ghost Ship - I enjoyed the premise, but the character portrayals didn't work for me.
Thank you! I’ve read a few Trek novels that have definitely given me that feeling about some of the character portrayals. It’s always interesting to me how much the actors can bring to the roles that some authors just miss out on. 😅
That's a nice wrap up video. I don't read much Sci-fi. I have to buy all my books at thrift stores and I rarely come across Sci-fi books. I think that I have The Bridges of Madison County but I've never read it. Thanks for sharing. -James
Thanks! I own a lot more fantasy but lately I’ve really been into sci-fi. I get pretty lucky with the second hand stores around here. I also check out garage/rummage sales and library sales. You don’t have to be a card holder at a library to visit their sales, and some always have a little area to buy books in. There’s also an app I discovered called WhatNot and there are a bunch of people that sell old books on there. There’s a decent sized community of people selling sci-fi; and honestly all sorts of things if sci-fi isn’t really your jam. It’s addictive though! 😅
I have 3 Thrift Stores in town that I visit and one sells a bag of books for $1. I can get as many as 15 books in a bag. After about 5-7 bags you can understand why I don't fill the bag up anymore. Just too many books! 😂 -James
I think the fandom is split. I’ve met a few people that worship Eren and think he’s totally justified. I just can’t get behind that. 😅 Glad I’m not alone!
Thanks! I’m always glad to bring new books to people’s attention. And I’m so glad someone else shares my viewpoint on Gone Girl. 😅🤣 This was such a fun tag to do. Thanks again for tagging me!
Angela's Ashes - I own a copy I have never read. I bought it second hand when there was still a lot of excitement about the book. It is the story of McCourt's growing up in southern Ireland. Maybe I should use this video to choose Angela's Ashes for reading this year
Rewatched and recommending @GuiltyFeat for your subscription list because he owns one of those sliding ladders and rides on it at the start of every video. Oh and please please please I beg for the book accessories video. Please can we see your bookmarks. It would be so cool, if you were talking about a finished book, to show which bookmark you chose for it and why. Also to talk about your favourite bookmarks
I checked him out and subscribed! Thanks for the recommendation. ❤️ Lol, I’ll definitely make it a point to make the book accessories video now. I love the idea of showing my paired bookmarks too. Thanks for the great idea!
Next generation my fav too, and that's what got me hooked to Star Trek. 🤩 It came out during my youth but I feel it was the cast that made the show for me.
Dinotopia! As a struggling reader as a kid, the series interested me. My parents were awesome in as soon as I finished one I could go and get the next in the series. As for a sign on and off you could give your viewers a pet name. Welcome ___ and I hope your reading helps you reach the stars ____. I dunno maybe that’s lame, but a suggestion. 😅
I had a few of the paperback chapter books as a kid but they’ve been lost over the years. I think after I read through the big picture book ones I’ll have to hunt down the paperback series. I definitely like the space theme in the sign off! I’ll have to brainstorm some pet names. I appreciate the suggestion! 🥰
Thank you! ❤️ It’s spray paint. A few years ago I became obsessed with making space art paintings. I have a ton just sitting around so I thought, why not use them as backgrounds? 😅
New to book tube too and finding my way around. I hope you get some great reads in and best wishes to your channel. You have a very inscrutable face by the way!
Welcome to the BookTube community, from one newb to another! (I just started my BookTube channel this week as well.) I love your creativity - you are an absolute doll! 😎📚👍
So glad you decided to make a BookTube newbie tag to make it easier to find you. Looking forward to lots of recommendations and hearing about books that you fall in love with over the course of the year!
