I love to crochet but I’ve yet to try amigurumi because I don’t know which wool to use. I only have access to Michael’s or Walmart in the town in Canada that I live. Can you give me some wools that I can get at Michaels in Canada that are good for amgurumi? Thanks :) PS I’m new to your channel and really love it!
ура! наконец-то хоть кто-то об этом говорит! в русскоговорящем Ютубе очень много хороших мастеров, которые забивают свой канал картинками из нейросети предлагая их как идеи. видео нейросети такой мусор 😢
A friend from a FB moms group I know posted a picture a few days ago of an amazing octopus snuggy, asking if anyone could please make it for her. My first thought was, just the yarn would cost $$$. So I went searching around on Ravelry and Etsy to see if I could find the pattern (or something similar) and what it would take. There was nothing that came close. So I dug into the comments and found a bunch of AI references, including the random human body parts that were in the pics. I didn't realize this type of thing is now a big scam, so thank you for posting this!
Thank you so much. I fell for a pattern that was like a dog's breakfast. I have been crocheting for 60 years so not a beginner. Have been making amigurumi toys for 5 years. So not a beginner but at 80 started to wonder if I was developing dementia 😮😮 No my Maths is still fine but now have an explanation 😅😅Many thanks 😊
I've been finished this tutorial bunny project this week but mine is look like a sheep than bunny 😂 , thank you so much this is so helpfull and very easy to make for my first time make a amigurumi doll ❤
Great AI info. I will add that Pinterest is not a good source to determine if something is real. I've seen more scams on Pinterest than anywhere else. They post a great pic and a link and the link takes you to their site which does not have the object you saw or anything close to it, either the pic is fake or they are not the ones who make it and are trying to get you to visit their site instead. I stopped going to Pinterest long ago.
I almost got stuck it into an AI pattern. I was looking for a realistic rooster pattern and everyone was showing these beautiful amigurumi but no one had the pattern.
Great Info!! I have been using the AI images for my puzzle app. I knew they were too perfect but I thought maybe it was projects from other countries. I have not yet finished an amigurumi project because of all the pieces so that is still new to me. Thank you for enlightening me on what to look for. This will really help me from now on. Happy Crocheting!! :)
another tip that works best on a computer: right-click the image, click "open image in new tab", and put your mouse over the name of the tab that it just gave you. it will tell you the name of the image and what kind of file it is. if it ends in ".webp", there's a chance that it's ai-generated because this is the kind of file that's often given to you by ai image generators. you can also save the image and look at the details. this works on mobile as well; on most phones, i think you can go to your gallery, press the picture, and press an icon that has a little "i" inside of a circle. this tip is a bit more technical than the others, but it can help if you don't trust your intuition, especially whenever ai starts to improve.
Some other notes if it's not crochet related: -letters in writing are wonky -backgrounds are basically blurry with no detail but don't quite look like a real backdrop -smooth/gradient coloring where there shouldn't be (this applies to crochet AND thinks like those weird sculptures bots like to post, etc) -little to no details where there should be details (like the grains of sand, the fibres of yarn, the fur of an animal) -animal anatomy is not right, either a little or a lot (AI especially struggles with horses, lmao)
I saw one AI photo on FB with a whole long table of Asian Grannies. They all looked alike and each one had the same cute "crochet" dress on the table in front of her. They all had pink sweaters on and white hair with beautiful smiles. What I notice in the fake crochet pics is that AI has a hard time with crochet and knit tools. It will make a chop stick looking tool or one with a ball on the end instead of a hook.
I’ve been crocheting since before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. One of the other features of AI is that stitches run in many directions without an apparent join (or would have to be made in many separate pieces and sewn together - and look more like a Frankenstein than a smoothly finished project). Many of them appear to be SC yet are all different sizes and different size yarn. The lovely AI shawl has weird blue spots like a bad photoshopped job. Something similar might be able to be actually crocheted, but it looks more like a machine made piece. And finally, if there is a shadow for the item but not the person, another hint it’s not real. Great video on helping folks identify AI crochet!
I only wanted to buy one for the cute themed crochet hooks some of the kits have, but if they’re not even as good as my favorite steel chiao goos I see no point. Thanks for the honest review, I would have been so mad if I bought them just for a crochet hook and the hook turned out to be really rough.
I got a lot of scrap yarn from buying it off of someone. I don’t like most of the type or feel of the scrap yarn but learned to just deal with it and make interesting tiny projects with it. It’s quite enjoyable figuring out how to finish yarn you don’t like and making it into something interesting
My office and craft rooms are in need of reorganizing, so I was happy to see this video. I have some of the items you showcased, but I’m inspired now to use them in different ways. I’ve been looking at the wire baskets but haven’t purchased them yet because I haven’t had any inspiration in how to use them. Now, I do, and will be picking some up when I go to Dollar Tree tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas!😊
Beyond HUGE thank you and Blessings to you Elise for this much needed video! I had been wondering how some people make such patterns. You certainly have cleared it up. You just did the largest service to the crochet world in my humble opinion. I will be sharing this. This is sad and infuriating at the same time. Thank you again.
I had no idea that a little highland cow i fell in love with and tried to make was AI until i had spent 3 days working on it!!!! Some one in my facebook crochet page explained it was never a real pattern to start with!
I didn't even know that AI generated crochet images and pattern were a thing... but I got all the fake and the real right as I'm an experience crocheter I can recognize the real from the fake stitches in the photos. Anyway thanks a lot for the information!
I had no trouble choosing the AI images in the quiz. To me it was as clear as color vs black and white. I guess that's a superpower, of a sort? My favorite tip was to look for in-progress photos. That is one I had not heard mentioned before. In fact, I've been searching for a (knit) shawl pattern I saw in an image on Reddit a few weeks back, but a reverse image search only finds the pin itself, which suggests AI. But the image looks pretty dang legit to me. Thanks to your tip of in-progress pics, I'm giving myself permission to end the search. LOL
I find Caron simply soft is more like a #3 weight. Also it’s very splity. Super saver does soften when washed and dried. I love love Lion Brand 24/7 and 27/7 dk. Wish they made more colors. Thanks for the reviews.
