Just a little something from firearm disassembly to cleaning. Some plinking videos. I plan on also including DIY videos as well, all meant for educational purposes only… be safe and have fun enjoying life.
There is a video of the range tryout for this build coming out on July 10/2024. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Brother. The range I use is at 100 yards and I was able to get some decent grouping with the SKS build using the Bushnell Banner scope and using surplus Russian ammo.
Thanks Brother, I have a video dropping on July 24th explaining what I had to do to get the darn thing working. Thanks for watching and the comment, cheers.
I hear that Brother, even longer if they have a tapco mag… my Guv sucks when it comes to firearms. The SKS is on the hot list, they are trying to ban them so I get out with them as much as possible, cheers thanks for watching and the comment.
Thank you, I only have the Remington 870 videos as my other Shotguns are all break action and don’t really lend themselves to a field strip video. That being said I could do some reviews and range test videos. Perhaps I can convince some of my buddies to loan me their shotguns for some “how to” videos. Thanks for the input, cheers 👍👍👍
The WHO TREATY is to be signed at the end of May. I think military out doing wellness check is maybe preparing citizens being subjets to the WHO TREATY.
Hello and thank you for tuning in to my little channel. I never heard of this Treaty before you mentioned it in the comment. I looked up info on it online and I’m not sure of the possible correlation between the WHO Treaty and these wellness checks. I’m hoping you could enlighten me as that’s what my channel is all about, the exchange of ideas, thoughts and experience. Thank you again for the comment and I hope to hear back from you. Cheers 🙂
just the typical Guv over reach up here. People need to know what’s going on and how to protect their rights. our Guv pops out the “emergency measures act” which is basically Martial Law at any whim to be able to use the Military to “assist” local law enforcement. I believe they are testing the waters for future Military use towards civilians. Scary times up here right now. How’s things in sunny California?
Great thing about voting, I always go with the lesser of the evils in Canada… but I will never vote for any party who takes away my freedoms like our current Guv does. As for the ability for EDC here it will never happen 😢 too bad because the criminals don’t follow that law and if you try to protect your stuff or even your life here, you may end up being charged, so so backwards. I know you all are facing constant threat and firearm restrictions but I tell you I do admire your 2a would be nice to have something similar here. Cheers Brother.
Lol he clearly has it in the description and at the beginning of the video to never try this with or even near ammo. Only to decock the pistol after cleaning or last round spent all so you don’t have to dry fire it. I have used this method too for a long time and it does the job. Maybe you should read the description and watch the video again lol. Great video Johnsfirearms 👍👍👍
Hi and thank you for watching and the comment. I am not sure why you are saying this? are you not familiar with “snap caps”? I mention several times about not doing this with live rounds, that I only do this after cleaning as an alternative to a dry fire. pew on Brother.
Hey Brother thanks for the comment, you are, of course entitled to your opinion. I don’t think it is ruined, just the opposite. it can all be reversed with no signs of the build, but I did think long and hard over it before proceeding. I already have a “trailer queen” SKS that I am merely babysitting until it gets willed down so I wanted to see just how far and how accurate this one could actually perform.I really can appreciate your view on this however as I once was a purist and considered it an abomination to alter any milsurp firearm. Life is short my friend, have fun, be safe and pew pew on 👍
thank you for watching and for the comment. this is so easy to do and I really like the result. just one subtle way to set your GSG-16 away from the look of all the other ones out there. Cheers Brother, not sure if you have one of these rifles but would love to hear back if you do have one and try this mod.
Sir i have old Chinese tt pistol plz tell me that it's barrel how can rounds fired and I keeping its magazine full load all the year it's magazine spring will be damaged or not
My first pistol is an MC28, and I'm glad i found this video. Barely shot it yet, and in one way, I'm glad of that. Now I can disassemble it. How can you tell yours is a V2?
when I ordered it , it was advertised as the V2 model, has it stamped on the slide too. I think it’s the same as the MC28 just the latest edition. decent price friendly pistol. Glad I got mine before the ban in Canada.. thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
yes I have noticed it’s not a true clearing of the firearm. it has been pointed out to me and I have edited the description to reflect just that. good catch just the same on safety 👍 my future videos now have a prerecorded video added at the beginning on firearm clearing. Thank you for watching and for the comment.
nice 👍 I didn’t feel like babysitting this one for someone else to own after I’m long gone lol… gotta make them work for us, thanks for your comment and viewing my little video.
I can appreciate your view on this as believe it or not I do respect and love Milsurps in general but especially the SKS. I do own an unfired 1952 Tula with the gold tinge bayo, that will not see ammo as long as I own it. I did do my best to hide any alterations and I believe I can mend the tiny hole I drilled if I wish to put it back to stock. the reason I didn’t go with an ATI chassis is simply because of the rich colour in the original stock and wanting it to still retain its SKS appeal to me. Cheers and thank you for your comment.
Ahhh yes I see your point, if I refer to the other two ammo types in the video by their full moniker I should have done the same for the 22 Long Rifle or the opposite referred to them as S, L & LR respectively.Cheers thanks for the input👍
Sir i have Chinese tt pistol now tell me that if I keeping magazine full load all the year it's magazine spring will be lose or damaged and next what is the service life of Chinese tt pistol barrel
Thank you for your comment/question. it is the belief that the springs will be fine if left full load, I do not leave it full load however so I can not confirm this. The barrel on these pistols is like most others, the service life depends on several factors. the amount of ammo through it, how it has been maintained, how it is stored etc, will all play into the service life. many of these pistols are from the late 50’s and still maintain a lot of service life. keep it clean, lubed and store in a dry place, be careful if using surplus corrosive ammo as clean up must be more thorough.
Thanks for sharing. It is critical to be focused when threading the screws or studs into the receiver. I actually stripped the receiver barrel stud hole. As you stated, a replacement receiver is not available. Only fix for me was to replace the whole rifle. Have a new one now with lots of spare parts.
wow I will watch out for those on the barrel lock too. it’s too bad the receiver is so punky because it’s a good accurate rifle. I even tried old Cooey 64 parts as they are related, but they were just slightly off in dimensions. thanks for the comment and happy plinking brother.
Just bought my first Savage 64F from Canadian tire. Didn’t pay attention on the front sight when I was in the store but found the front sight a bit off the center when I got home. It’s brand new I guess. It’s not big deal as I can push it to the center.
on the Henry I have there is only the one butt stock screw and the fore stock has none. mine is a newer model, maybe you have an older model? thanks for you comment.
Glad I live in West Texas, 57 sunny degrees with really no breeze today. I get a lot of trigger time here, hardly any bad weather. Ok, in spring time it gets really windy. I've got a GSG 15-22 SD. It's a really fun little plinker. Haven't shot it in over 3yrs. May be time to pull it out of the safe. Thanks for the video.
noiiice 👍👍. the SD is the same as my Special Edition I think the only difference is mine came with their GSG Red Dot. I’m still trying to sort out the drum mag 110 rounder. thanks for the comment Brother.
yes absolutely upon re watching this video I did not safe check the firearm properly on camera. I assure you I do ensure my firearms are safe before engaging in any repair/ cleaning… good call though thank you for the comment 👍👍
the firing pin is a bit tricky, I will try to get a video on it soon. as for the trigger, I have never needed to remove one so I am sorry but hays outside my knowledge.
we all have our opinions on this kinda thing. I once was a purist and considered it taboo to alter these fine relics. I pondered a long time before embarking on this build. When I pulled the plug and decided to go for it, I made sure and was careful to make sure I could re install all parts to original. I did not see any sense in owning a “trailer queen SKS” life is short, I make them (firearms)work for me and in some cases that means a mod here and there. Now that being said I would not have altered this particular rifle had it not already been adulterated with corrosive ammo. thanks for your comment as I could certainly agree 100% in my past, cheers Brother.
@@JohnVanDyk ah, gotcha. I was gonna say, because the only rifles that Russia exported were refurbs, unless you got a Vietnam bring back or something lol
@@toska3528 Some were imported into the US, maybe 1%. It seems to me , most of the non refurbs came thru Century Arms. You can see some as issued SKS's on Gun Broker. You won't believe the prices on these. I got mine by pure luck at a gun show.
@@JohnVanDyk Hi, yes its the pin you remove so you can remove the extractor and firing pin. The firing pin or the extractor isn't stuck. It's the retaining pin, i normally can punch out on newer guns. This old one is stuck.
ok I see, I have not run into that before, except if my firing pin was too far back and the little low spot on it was not lined up with the retaining pin.if your firing pin moves freely in the bolt housing than its not in the way and I would try penetrating oil and maybe a press of some type next, to push out that pin so you can get at your extractor and firing pin. good luck
Thanks Brother. I’m no professional at this stuff but my passion for all firearms keeps me going. currently working on four builds over the winter. We are limited in Canada (FJT) to what we can get so have to make do with what we have. i subscribed to your channel, I see some videos you have that in definitely in my wheelhouse.
@@JohnVanDyk absolutely!! California has restrictions too so you have to make it work best as you can. Look forward to seeing your builds! Make sure to tag me so I don’t miss it.👍🏾
personally have seldom used it. only range pistols. if I were using it as a c.c. firearm then it’s another story. it S reliable but would I holster it like that chambered?
You talking about putting the buttstock back on backwards I did that my very first time taking it apart and I forced to butt stock on the wrong way and I broke the ear off the top cover that goes over the receiver and I had to buy a new hole cover from Henry
Im in Nova Scotia i seen this at canadian tire for 34.99 Said browning kit so i left it..!! I have birchwood casey super blue here, works great. But i may try this now i know its bluing.!
I had this sitting around as it was a gift and I too never really bothered with it because it said Browning kit. I eventually took it out to see what it could do and was quite surprised with the results. I’m in Ontario, so condolences on our Bill C21 😞. I have used Birchwood Casey Tru Oil on stocks but haven’t tried their SuperBlue, will have to pick some up. cheers Brother.
thanks for the comment Brother. I haven’t had my 15 or 16 out too much as heavy winter is upon my locale. From the little bit I’ve had them out the front runner seems to be the GSG 16… the 15 has the dreaded drum mag ugggh.
