Nice landing, you were below glidslope though and landed early. Other than that well done. Most people I see landing for the first time go in at like 200 its and dont even try to be on speed.
As a true Brit myself, I can indeed confirm that we usually like to land our aircraft whilst flying through the tower bridge. The only case we wouldn't do this is if we have any issues with the aircraft itself and need an emergency landing.
It's a fab plane, sounds so cool when the engine winds up and there's really good visibility for VR especially. It feels familiar if you come at it from the Hornet, although the targeting systems are a fair bit quirkier than that plane. The take-offs and landings will keep you busy for ages as there's so many types but gives it amazing flexibility for making missions when you can plonk it on a FARP, a roadbase or the Tarawa and do some missions at night or in the horrible weather, so satisfying to make it back to base from those, you feel like an absolute hero haha
As a pilot, when normally landing on a runway you aim for the thousand footers. Jester might have disliked the fact that you landed right on the hundred foot markers.
Could be a number of things having nothing to do with which wire. Pitch was at horizon instead of 5 to 6 degrees nose up (high chance of bolter). Glideslope was >5 degrees instead of the 3.5 degrees its supposed to be. Also landed so far to the right that if there were parked aircraft on the sides like there usually are, they would've been struck and destroyed (the centerline is the yellow/white line on the left, the right wheel was completely out of the landing zone, which is probably what REALLY pissed Jester off). But the landing was well controlled without much jerkiness, so these things shouldn't be hard to correct. And then Jester will be much happier.
I think its because you landed right before the threshold and missed the aiming point slightly. IRL I believe they strengthen the tarmac on specific parts of the runway, to account for landings. The area before the threshold can be used for takeoffs (and for runout if coming from the opposite runway). just a possibility I'm not a pilot this is just speculation.
Might also be because he landed it softly. From what I know NAVY pilots are taught to pretty much 'control a crash' into any kind of landing, regardless of whether it's on the boat or on a strip.
yeah you landed outside the touchdown zone (those white rectangles to the sides). Although I didn't know DCS modelled that. Your AoA is also way too shallow: you'd aquaplane off the carrier deck.
One day I'll buy an VR! But here in Brazil it is very expensive. I think the TU-160 bomber and the B-1B are beautiful. I also do some DCS cinematics in my channel.
