This is a terrible video. For a majority of the video the women are not wearing helmets. I was considering switching from Nutcase to Triple 8, but can’t bring myself to support a company who values objectification of women over safety.
I’m 44 and started skateboarding with my 8 and 9 year old. I want to set a good example for them. Plus there’s just something about wearing a helmet to piss off the helmet police that gives me pleasure, I’m just like that. Got the triple 8 Mike McGill signature helmet and I personally think it’s badass.
I bought one and it fits a TINY bit snug, but the padding will break in and I can tell it's gonna be perfect. Probably best that it fits slightly snug anyways, don't want it wobbling around on my head.
Thank you triple 8. I have finally found a helmet that fits well, feels soft, certified and does not fall off when shaking head. Amazing purchase, highly recommend.
I remember reading people saying Andy Anderson wasn't good enough otherwise he would have all the sponsors he wanted regardless of his helmet and that Tony Hawk wore one because he rode vert but what's their excuse now with Mike V sponsored by T8? They will always have a reason regardless, wheither it's based on something seriously substantial or not.
If you think you should where a helmet then you should, if you have experience with falling down with out hitting your head then don’t wear one, helmets give you confidence sometimes enough confidence to break some other body part…. Your head can take an impact of 25mph slipping out on a skateboard can get you going down that fast so with that said if skating alone is difficult wear a helmet
Holy smokes- I love this helmet. I’m a big sweater especially in the summer heat- and boy does this helmet not only make my confidence go up- it makes the total time in a skate sesh go way up without having to deal with annoying sweat in my eye!
And yeah protect your dome, especialy young kids starting out. Drop your pride and wear a helmit until you reach that next level! As a growing sport and art that has reached olympic status, O. G. Skates need to be honest with nuby's, you can do damage! Thanks Mike
I launched off the side of this fucking mini ramp in the summer awhile ago thank God I had a helmet on or I would have cracked my melon. I came down on my back and my head whipped and I smacked the back of the helmet on the asphalt hella hard to where I seen Stars still.. In my opinion Andy Anderson and Mike vallely did the skateboarding community a favor if the rest of us see these two guys wearing helmets we won't feel so stupid wearing helmets ourselves
Is the newer, thinner version of the sweat saver Wakeboard/Watersports friendly? I had the old one with the thicker pads, but after a couple falls, it always seemed to get heavy because the pads would absorb some of the water.
I have a question. I found 20$ pads by “eight ball by triple eight” is that legit you guys or is it a fake. Bought em’, seemed worth it. Saved my knees a few times already.
He says that the ones that fit comfier/snugger were the ones that were all padding, and offered no support, where the certified ones never fit him right. This one does both for him.
I used to watch him skate. I heard that after he healed from his accident, he took up hockey instead. But very curious to know what he's up to these days!
What if ylut in between sizes? I bought a gotham in L xl .. and my head is 58.5cm .. once the ratchet is 2 clicks from fully tight its snug... Shiuld i have gone w a medium idk?
When I was in my teens I don’t think I got criticized for wearing a helmet then, but I don’t wear it as often as I do now, but wasn’t per pressure , 2017 was the most recent time I wore a helmet skateboarding because the park I went to looked kind of sketchy
been skating for 15 years, im 21 now, just this may i slipped off my board and hit my head. started seizing on the ground and had a TBI. would have been a different story if i was wearing a helmet. And i thought it would never happen to me. fucking tragic man, $33,000 in hospital bills
I got a certified triple 8 and the extra padding makes it not fit my head, it’s like an inch over my ears, but uncertified ones fit great but not as protective
Sean M I ended up returning it to tactics it just didn’t feel like it stayed on my head. Ordered an uncertified protec, like I had as a kid and it fits perfectly. I highly doubt I’m slamming my head I just thought certified would be better
Don't skimp. The reason you're buying a helmet is IF you take that slam to the dome. And IF you do, you'll be glad you had real protection. Certified sweatsaver comes with extra pads to size up if you need to. Measure the circumference of your head with a phone charger then use measuring tape. My cranium is a 22.5 so I got the L/XL and it fits fine. Always size up if you're at the cusp of sizing.
