So, runner's high is a sensation you can get after exercise where you are left feeling invigorated and happy. This is because endorphins are released during exercise, and can leave you in a good mood afterwards. Like cannabis lol. But runner's high is also a frequently referred to sensation that runners/athletes experience *_whilst_* running. Running can feel awkward and hard for quite a while, but there is a stage in a runner's fitness journey where it just starts to make _sense_ . Muscles start to align and breathing falls into place. The perfect stride and pace begins to come naturally, and running all of a sudden starts to feel easy. Usually people running very long distances begin to feel it. That at some point, it feels like they could run forever. Nothing hurts, you're going reasonably fast, and the whole body feels like *one* unit. Its starts to become *_fun_* . When this sensation hits you, you can experience goosebumps, and your head can feel light/cloudy. "Run until the tip of your foot burns", "Even if I fall, there will be no scar." Runner's high can make you feel like you can run until your body inevitably breaks. "Run again! Run higher! Run, Run!" That's literally how it feels guys, like the energy in Chan's voice and everything. Please, get in to running and seek this feeling, you won't regret (it's good for your health ;) NOwwww, the 'Barefooted Youth', I'm assuming, is a reference to the Korean Film and series 맨발의 청춘 from 1964. (Disclaimer: I haven't seen it, just researched.) The 1960s was when youth culture in Korea started to emerge, influenced by the West, and greatly distinguished itself against older generations. 'Adolescent/youth films' began to air, with the Barefooted Youth being one of the most popular. The main character is a lower class boy and a gang member. He ends up falling for a wealthy girl, who likes him back. Long story short, they can't bridge the class divide -- he's too poor and unruly, she's facing an arranged marriage. So, they commit suicide together, in love. Her funeral is lavish and many people watch, whilst the main character's body lies on a cart being pulled by a friend, bare feet showing from under a sheet. It demonstrates the societal divide and incompatibility of their love even beyond death. His friend takes off his own shoes and puts them on his icy feet, continuing to trudge through the snow in socks only. The friend remarks that their humble funeral is witnessed by real love/friendship, whereas hers is fake and for show. Now, I don't think they're referring to the plot per se here, but rather what the movie symbolised at the time. It's "an indictment of an unforgiving society in which social inequality, entrenched social codes, and the rigidity of the older generation have destroyed youth’s expectations of a brighter future." The boys' messages have always been to go your own pace, that its okay to be different, to challenge the norm, to stand up to old ways/generations, and to bridge the divide. The stray kids (lower class/unaccepted young people) can still make a way for themselves. The main character's last words is advice to his friend, to live his life to the fullest and to die without without regrets. I think this message can be seen in the lyric, "Even if I fall, there will be no scar." *The regret of not trying is a worse scar than the physical scars of falling* . Better to run and fall trying than not try at all. Is this not the boys? They're clearly not afraid to try new things. "Run until the tip of your foot burns, the barefooted youth, burn it up." If yall had a childhood, you'd know that running barefoot starts to burn after a while, especially on a rough surface... Chan remarks with frustration in his verse that he's been running for a while now... Having a 'barefooted childhood' is also a concept associated with rural areas or kids growing up poorer than others. The boys may be saying they're coming from humble beginnings. Yet, a barefoot childhood means power and strength, it means being curious, courageous and adventurous. It doesn’t mean foolishness but awareness of the risks. Barefoot children are strong, healthy, independent and capable of making their *_own_* decisions. Its the parents leaving things for their children to decide, not just whether they want to put on shoes today or not. The kids are all these things, clearly.
