I have been a historical war gamer and miniatures painter for 35+ years.
I started off with all things WW2, and then ancients/medieval from 2004 until present. Currently revisiting my WW2 passion again and working on things I haven't touched in over 20 years.
Keep in mind most of my videos are done with a lot of fun and are not PC so watch at your own risk. ;)
Bill Molyneaux goes to the Games Shop in Gettysburg regularly and does video tours on his RU-vid channel. They have 2 of the Guns of Navarone sets on display.
I think it is a big mistake for the rules to count contact along the front edge for the TZ as being in the TZ. It would be cleaner to delete that and have the unit ENTER the TZ (inside the 40mm zone, in other words, 39.99mm). Touching the outside of the door is not the same as being in the room. If touching counts then why not the sides too? Regarding the Threat Zone example at 1545, I think the DBMM rules (2016) for Threat Zones are much clearer than the DBA (2014) rules. The DBA rule is poorly written and incomplete. I feel the DBMM TZ rule (written by the same author at a later date) makes the rule clearer. Only Phil Barker can tell us his true intent, not someone else who tells us his interpretation of what Barker's intent was. But Barker did write DBMM, so we have is words regarding TZs here. DBA does not cover a situation like this or when the Threat Zone is projected into the flank or rear of the affected unit. DBMM says this about allowable moves in such situations: * If the only elements whose TZ affects it are to its rear, turn 180 degrees. * Move straight forward either (a) a full tactical move without contacting enemy, (b) move into contact with an enemy front edge or front corner only, or (c) move directly towards the enemy exerting the TZ. The way I see it, the DBMM rule would allow the unit to wheel and attack the unit in the flank in this situation because of (b), as it says an enemy front/front corner (it does not specify the enemy unit projecting the TZ). TZs do move (because units move), so a unit can suddenly find itself in a TZ that it did not intent to be in. The DBA rules seems to only take into account the player moving into a TZ and does not address the situation where a TZ has moved over the unit during the other side's bound or as a combat outcome.
Well they way I describe it is how all play in the US in tournaments so even if I shared your opinion which is contrary to everyone else (including the FAQ members) I would be fighting a massive uphill battle. Regardless I have moved on and no longer play DBA since Oct. 2022 so it would be some one else's fight. Regards.
The South Asian food scene is now the most popular in the UK surpassing Honk Kong Chinese by about 3 to 1. They have even made up dishes and meals that don't exist in the sub continent to suit the British palette.
The UK uses judge only trials, so called Diplock Courts, to try 'scheduled offences' in Northern Ireland. Mostly terrorism related offences. It avoids potential witness intimidation.
A nice kit of an interesting AC, I wish that these ones would've been available in early'70s, once there was only the Airfix one, with a few known version, and no alternative parts ! Pity for the lack of crew, but either Caesar & Orion make some good boxes with plenty of crewmen for these ACs. 👍
The kilt is a formalised version of the plaid that was normally the only clothes that a clansman had. Formed from one piece of cloth it was wrapped around the body. A bit like the Irish you painted.
Lots of reasons for sports fans following teams. Family tradition, dad takes you, then you go with your friends and then become part of the community, or tribe. A bit like going to church and being part of the congregation.
And interesting kit, expecially for all the spare parts, useful for conversions. On the market there are some 1/72 seated soldiers and tank crews to integrate the models .
The Wicker Man plot is designed to make you think that the young girl that is missing is the one to be sacrificed. During the film Woodward's virgin character is put through various tests before the final reveal.
US has six Service Branches. Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force and Navy. Scottish kaiju lives in Loch Ness. There is also The Scunner from the Film Pacific Rim. A scunner in Scots is a frustration or strong dislike as in 'It's a fair scunner', It's very frustrating.
I missed the end of the stream but for the tank riders (who should only really be on the vehicle during an ambush at this scale) wouldn't it make the most sense to have them take a hit as if in the open and treat it separately than the hit on the tank? I'd also debate throwing in a morale test to enable them to move away from the "safety" of the vehicle, with a failure making them huddle near it where ricochets and missed shots aimed at the tank are more likely to hit them. Then again you would need to model the fact that soldiers with weapons that couldn't damage an AFV (aside from hits on vision slots) would still fire at it like they did and still do in reality. I think that's in the Hellfire games by Jim Webster. Food for thought.
Tea was probably drunk during the cold desert night. There were huge diurnal temperature extremes from day to night and hot tea would have been welcome in the cold desert night. Before tea, the Brits had lots of infusions of other plants and ingredients. Lots of tannin in tea, but only 16% of the caffeine. Is credited with helping speed up the industrial revolution in the UK as the free radicals in the tannin helped keep workers healthy.
Does the sand texture dry clear? I remember once trying the "natural sand" (I think it's the same thing but renamed) and it looked "off" because it dried almost transparent.
The Liquitex products dry mostly clear. Unfortunately since I have made this video they aren't made any more due to being "unsustainable" (their words, not mine) so I have switched to using Vallejo Grey Pumice for my ground texture which works even better.
Most of the folks that leave GW leave because they Want a bit of creative freedom. GW keep all IP and don't credit individual sculptors. The Warlord Epic figures do not appear to be a constant size or quality of sculpt. I only have the Waterloo, ACW, and ECW sets and they seem to be getting closer to 15mm with each release. The Ancients look like they could be used for DBA using 28mm basing. They look 15mm.
Sorry, I went on a walk and the internet crapped out on me. You were talking about filming games with multiple cameras, might be worth asking the team at Pulp Alley about it because they have it down. Super friendly folks, too.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fxkodma3p-M.htmlsi=DIprp1lCX2zVklBI I watched this video at lunchtime today and it was pretty informative.
RU-vid isn't sending me these at all. I don't think it likes the disconnecting, but I really don't know how the damn thing works. Its been pissing me off, I haven't got shit painted, since I only see your videos hours or days after they are posted.
I have had to go on a different direction all of a sudden due to the disconnecting and have been streaming directly on my phone to avoid these problems.
