I ordered the quiet baffle from shark road, but it seems like they are to short, once I install the tip the just slip forward wondering if you have any input?

Basically the baffle is a steel tube with perforations on it. to quiet or mellow the sound you can take a fiberglass matting material and wrap the baffle and it is quite effective in mellowing the sound.
Sounds great, way too loud for me, I run stock on my Nomad. If I can here my pipes on the road at speed, it is too loud. But I do enjoy a good rumble going past.
I was waiting to get pipes until after I got the ecu tuned. But this vid convinced me that the popping isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Bike sounds 100 percent better. Thanks for the info and the demo
Your welcome....I think you will be pleased with the product....Any issues let me know as I have Sharkroads ear and can freely communicate with their leadership....No, I dont work for them or get commission.
Craig, did Ivan’s flash give anymore HP or torque? According to his website charts and improves both but many say they don’t feel anything. Do you notice anything? Thanks
Hi Jay, I believe there is a slight improvement but thats not what makes his flash so successful.....The bike wont pop on deceleration most prevalent by adding aftermarket mufflers, the bike will run cooler as he not only modifies the fuel and ignition timing but he turns the cooling fan on sooner. All throttle transition glitchy Ness is resolved making the bike just smoother and more enjoyable to operate.....
Craig , thanks for your reply. Here’s another question. I test drove one yesterday from a private seller. Bike was clean with lots of options and we agreed on a fair price. When I drove it it was so sluggish and backfired that it totally discouraged me. I realize Ivan’s flash would remedy the backfiring but I was not at all satisfied with the sluggish performance. I called Ivan and he said his power charts are based on wide open throttle and that the main improvements are cooling, power delivery, no more backfiring. My main concern is that if I buy the bike and put Ivan’s flash on it will I be satisfied with the power? I’m thinking I will be satisfied based on the vast positive comments I’ve read but I can’t be sure. I was prepared to buy the bike when I test rode it but the power is just making me pause. I told the guy I’m going to ponder this more and will get back with him. I know there’s a chance he could sell but then that would be my answer, which is how I’m going to look at it from a faith based point of view. Any thoughts to help me reconsider? Thanks for any object feedback to my dilemma.
@@jaybd9329 I am confident you will notice an improvement in overall performance. Many people say "The bike should have come this way from Kawasaki" or "I almost sold my bike before doing the Ivan".....I dont know what your used to or expect. If you want it to run as strong as a new HD 114 I think you'll be disappointed. If your used to a Goldwing or Sportbike I think you'll be disappointed. I can however say it'll fix a ton of issues with the stock programming that makes the bike a much more desirable motorcycle to ride.
@@craiggoldstein2461 ok, thanks Craig. My reference point is my former 2016 Road King 103 which is the same as the 1700, stock everything, and my butt Dino felt about 30% more pull smoothly up the power band. I’m not expected Goldwing or the 114 HD, just a decent pull, which I now believe the Voyager can provide, especially based on all the satisfied customers of Ivan’s tune. If I get the bike I’ll get the tune and give you my feedback afterwards. Appreciated your feedback
They sound good. I would prefer a baffle because it gives some back pressure. Straight pipes u loose power. 2 into one produces the best power. But some like the dual pipe sound and looks.
The wrapped sound was certainly better. The 1700s are way too quiet and 'tame' for my taste with the factory setup and tune. I have a VN2000 from 2006, just had it for a year and it has Cobras on it -and L O V E it. If I can get a 1700 to sound like the 2000, I will run to the dealer and get a 2023. :)
I had a 2006 VN2000 Limited and loved it.....One of the bikes I wish I never parted with. The VN1700's are nice too once you get the ECU Tuned by Ivan and go with slip-ons.
Hi Curtis, they dont have a call center here in USA. They handle transactions on their website....Messaging as well. I have found that at times replies from them can be sluggish but they always follow through.
Great video. I liked the wrapped baffle sound the most, it seemed to have a little deeper of a sound. I have a 2018 Vaquero 1700 with Cobra slip-ons and the sound was really good and after I had the ecu ivanized the sound of the exhaust changed to a little higher pitch sound, not bad, just different. P.S. Ivanizing your ecu is worth every penny. From what I have read in the comments you have being ivanized and I'm wondering, did you notice a sound difference and have you thought about doing a video to compare. I liked the comment on how people make it look so easy to do a youtube video, I did one for my bike and can see that I have to learn how to hold a camera, but I posted it anyways. Ride safe, enjoy.
Bill, I did find the exhaust sound changed some especially in between shifts. I would love to take a course on high quality RU-vid production...I tool have lots to learn but its still fun and rewarding.
Hey Kent, I am in Ontario Canada, wondering what province you are in. I have a 2018 Vaquero with cobra slip on's and after watching this video I'm really thinking about this Sharkroad exhaust but never thought about them being illegal, how did you find this out.
@Craig Goldstein OK, thanks Craig. I'm set on buying the sharkroad pipes but it'll be a couple months before I can get the ECU flashed. Thanks for responding.
If you don't want to Ivanize your ECU, the next thing you can do is block off your pair valve. What's happening is fresh air is being introduced into the exhaust port to burn and unspent fuel. This is an emissions reduction approach many motorcycle companies employ. Gooogle "Marbelizing" your Kawasaki 1700 and you'll find many conversations on this.
Hi Carlos, Sorry if I didn't appear enthusiastic. I think the Sharkroads do sound AMAZING in any configuration. After I got the Ivan flash I think it was better without any decel popping and cooler running. Overall the Sharkroad muffler is a deal!
Great info Craig!! I bought these pipes because of you! On Saturday I put the same Sharkroads on my 22 Voyager. The baffles do come wrapped and there is an O2 sensor plug now. So to eliminate 90% of the decel popping I blocked the Pair Valve inlet inside the R/H air cleaner. The hole is at 11 o'clock in the housing. A guy from New Zealand told me about this.....Absolutely works great.
Bam, REALLY great info about the PAIR valve. Glad your happy with your Sharkroad mufflers. I just bought another Voyager so I'm back in the fold myself.
@@mikestowe6136 When you buy the Kawasaki Sharkroad mufflers you get the standard Baffle that comes fiberglass wrapped. If you want it louder remove baffle to remove wrap. If you want to quieter than standard they offer a "Quiet baffle" This quiet baffle is smaller in diameter and also comes wrapped. Hope this helps.
@@craiggoldstein2461 ok ya i didnt know which one was the one that came with it because you had 2 different size baffles in the video so my guess it comes with the larger diameter one thabks
Brian, If you want to add Fiberglass Matting to your existing muffle baffles you wrap the baffle with the matting and you can secure to baffle with some metal HVAC tape or thin Bailing wire. if you buy Sharkroad quiet baffles they come ready to go with fiberglass and wire.
Thanks for the review. A friend of mine just told me about these. I just bought an '11 Vaquero and was looking for some aftermarket pipes. I don't know if it's just the video quality of most I've watched but the Vance & Hines and Cobras sound not so good compared to these. I like the sound of these but I must admit they gave me a little pause when I saw they were made in 'China'. Quality automatically pops in your mind from the chrome on down the list. But at around half what the others cost, I may give them a try.
Chuck, I can say that SharkRoad customer service and quality has been really good. The few complaints they've received they replace or refund ASAP. V & H and Cobra is nice too but of you try the Sharlroad I think you will be impressed. I dont work for them but I have a good relationship with them and I often help out with any issues with their American customers....Any issues please let me know.
@@craiggoldstein2461 Thanks, that’s great to know. My friend just put some on his Voyager and he cranked it while I was at his house yesterday and I thought wow those sound good. Sending my ECU off this week to Ivan also. Thanks for the reply!
Hi Craig... Really like your videos. I just purchased the shark road slotted mirrors for my 2020 Kawasaki Voyager. For me, it's way too loud. Before I put them on I looked inside and there's no wrap just the original baffle that came with the pipes. As one of the other commenters noted, it says on the shark road website that the quiet baffles don't fit with the Kawasaki pipes. Obviously they do work, you just proved it in your video. I'm wondering, did they fit like they were meant to fit or did you have to Jimmy them around to make them almost but not quite fit? I'm considering sending them back but I wanted to give this a try first but will be waiting for your response. Thanks look forward to seeing your reply. Another question, why would they say that can't be used with the Kawasaki, I don't get it!
Craig.. three questions.. do you still have the Shark Roads installed. are they baffled from the company now? Do you have the stock sound system and Can you hear your radio with the upgraded pipes
AZDD, I dont have the Vaquero any longer. About to pick up a BMW K1600GTL. I felt the best setup was the Sharkroads with the supplied baffles wrapped with fiberglass matting to sound the best coupled with the Ivan ECU flash. ANY aftermarket muffler will exhibit popping on deceleration due to the fresh air induction emission system. The Ivan tune resolves that and a host of other Kawasaki issues....I never listened to the on-board radio as I always use my Cardo Packtalk JBL headset when riding and listening to music. At speed and when on the gas I imagine the stock radio speakers in the fairing will be ineffective. Hope this helped.
James, I wont argue your point because I agree in that the stock exhaust does sound good however thousands of Vaquero/Voyager guys choose to switch out the mufflers for more sound and presence so everyone has a different interpretation of what sounds best.
@@craiggoldstein2461 covering plates doesn't matter. Running license plates is restricted at the state and federal level. Any PC running plates can be tracked and that's if someone has the access. Basically, covering plates is false security...lol
I put Vance & Hines on my Kawasaki 1700. They were too loud! So I made a perforated baffle that blocks most of the tube in the middle. Put a 1/4 hole through center. Most of the exhaust has to go through muffler internals. Has a nice sound now.
Randy, yes the decell popping will occur with any aftermarket muffler and YES the Ivan tune resolves this and fixes a host of other issues with the OEM tune.
