“We have so great a cloud of witnesses…therefore let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us and run with endurance the race which is set before us. Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12
Everything in life is about him: Jesus, the Holy son of God and his shed blood at the cross of Calvary. All praise glory and honor to him forever and ever. 😊
Visited a friend out of state this past weekend as her grandfather wasn’t doing well. I am not religious, but we sang this to him after the church service we had Sunday morning and he was mouthing the words as everyone sang. He passed this morning and I’m back out of state. Listening to this to honor him as a preacher, father, and grandfather, and as a final comfort for myself
Whats the hymn near the end, lyrics, "Friend the end must be near, or it seems I can hear, (something...) in the sky...." any help I'd be grateful. Thank you. BTW, Appalachian Storyteller.....You need a TV program! Just found you, and am watching all your videos! The story telling is awesome!!

Hearing these old hymns reminds me of my granny playing the piano in church!!! Oh how thankful I am for what she did in sharing Jesus with us!! I strayed away for a LONG TIME but came back and am trying to do the same with our children and grandchildren!!
This morning I was reading in the Revelation 14:1-5 and 15:1-3. When I prayerfully read 15:2, “and them who had gotten the victory ...” I had to sing this song. I could not find it in the church of God hymn book or the Evening Light hymn book so I found it here. And I love the version you sing much better than the traditional one because it is Scriptural, not traditional! So I enjoyed singing this song before the throne on mount Zion and on the sea of glass!
My very Catholic mom could sing this hymn with gusto from her ecumenical childhood of Methodist boarding school , Presbyterian Sunday school and having to explain all this to the nuns at her Catholic school on Monday :)
We sang this hymn as the last song at my beloved grand mother’s funeral a couple months ago. What a blessing we were able to do this for her. It brings uncontrollable tears to my eyes.
