I have the 23 Street Bob 114 and I have the Iron Born Blade 25" sissy bar with fold-able luggage rack from viking Bags. Will I be able to use these bags and the Sissy Bar at same time? Or do i need to buy longer bolts to make it work?
These would look nice on my ride. If you're worried about the handles rattling, but you wanted to retain them, you could wrap some rubber around the parts that contact each other.
Thinking about putting some 30 cal cans on the side of my minibike. Kinda takes the fun out of it when you cut off all the ammo can accents. I would weld down anything you don't want to rattle prior to paint if you want to keep the look without the rattle. Great video and thanks.
i wish I didn't get conned into buying thrashin supply brackets, because their bags look like shit. I was told they were the only brackets my dealership could find for my 23 softail, which didnt make sense to me but I didn't question it because I have no knowledge about what brackets/bags go with what or why they're so model specific. I bought the brackets and I don't even think I'm gonna use them because this looks so much better, I'm just scared to do it myself cause I've never done any detailing or work like this on my own and I'm scared to butcher my new bike I just bought
If you decide to give it a try definitely just take your time and if you mess up, don’t get discouraged! Worst thing that happens is you mess up a cheap ammo can. The good thing about this setup is your actually not changing anything on the bike. More so making a bag system that bolts onto the bike!
As far as I can tell they’re supposed to flip out (hinges outside) that way you don’t hit your fender or seat. Touring models are the same way from the factory, the bags flip out
Thanks for this vid! Did this for my bike easy. The only thing I did different was I used hook and loop fasteners on the handles to stop them from rattling when I ride so I could still use them when I detach the cans.
Dude. You did a good job to me!! Pisses me off I wanted to do this, but just ordered a set of torque Moto bags for $180!!! I may be sending them back and doing this.
Good job. I added a 7.5 litre plastic ammo box to my Softail Slim (helped by the crossbar on the 'Hollywood' style bar). I could probably fit about fifteen 13oz beverage can and close the lid. It's strapped on with a tough elastic strap that I got from a hardware store. I neatly cut 2 vertical slots in the rear panel of the box for the strap to thread through. Not only do I have some useable storage, but it acts as a fairing, which makes riding at highway speeds easiier on my arms & hands. It doesn't score too well on appearance (looks like a hug black battery above the headlight), but the price, ease of fitment and practicality are what it's about. Cost was about $30US for the box & strap.
I thought of this Idea and thought I was the only one lol. Glad I found someone else that did it you gave me some good tips. I'm mounting some 20 mm ammo cans (the big ones) on the side of my overland camper that I'm building
