The main goal of my channel is to share knowledge with others. A lot of my videos will be sharing what I've learned (sometimes the hard way!), in order to hopefully make it easier for others to accomplish the tasks I've done.
I'm a mechanical engineer with a passion for DIY. I enjoy working on cars, wood working, and plants/gardens. I also like to do as much home maintenance and repair myself as possible.
Thank you so much! Our 7 year old Samsung fridge just did this today. We didn’t have as much ice buildup as you but getting rid of what we did have fixed the problem
Thank you for this. It worked out pretty good. Its a car I dont much care for so this will buy me time till I upgrade my car. But again it worked pretty well.
The force defrost will only melt ice around the coils, not up by the fan unfortunately. But I highly recommend running force defrost a couple times before removing the panel!
Would this be enough to hide a crack from a safety check to pass safety? Maybe show up with a dirty windshield after the repair would help conceal it better 😬
Lol. I was honestly hoping it would, but it didn’t do a great job of hiding. Maybe if you spent more time trying get the resin in, tap the inside of the windshield and work with it longer before taking it out into the sun
@@fiveohmxco yeah.. oh well! I would try this first because on maui the cost for windshield replacement is about $700 and I just replaced it a little over a year ago!! A tree branch fell and cracked right over the driver side 😂 FML
@@adamc4155 😫 that was my first intention to get it to clear up and pass state inspection, but it didn’t disappear like I hoped. So we’ve just pushed it off for 4 years 😂
@fiveohmxco I read a comment on another video for rain x repair kit and it said to hold a flame on the inside for 10 seconds at a time and the heat will pull the resin into the crack! Gonna try it out today 🤙
I'm having this exact same maddening problem right now. Thanks a lot for taking the time and effort to make this video and explain to us laymen what's up
After a car wash, my electrical system went nuts. The car wouldn’t turn off, although the vehicle ran fine. $18k later I have replaced sunroof seals, cleaned drains, replaced wiring harnesses and new carpet kit. Stay on top of this folks
@@fiveohmxco on top of that the $5k extended warranty sold by Autonation refused to cover it even though the Veritas deluxe package included enhanced electrical . At 113k miles I hope to drive this for a long long time
Yea I was terrified when I first saw it! Hopefully this is your issue. If it doesn’t solve it, look up the windshield seal next. I’ve heard that’s a lot harder to fix tho so 🤞
How far does it stick out of the wall externally, basically from the top rail to the back of the unit? I have a walkway right outside of the window. It would be ok if it does not get into the way too much. Thanks!
I really appreciate people like you who post informative, easy-to-understand videos. After trying to read through the owner's manual, this video was a godsend!
Great video! Thanks for sharing, I just bought a used 2011 Town and Country L just like this and the same problem. I found you don't even have to remove the battery, but probably should disconnect one of the terminals for the battery to be safe. I also found when I went to put pin 7 into 11, there was no wire and the pin hole seemed to be sealed. If you push hard I guess it will break through the plastic. Maybe there is a better way for that, like a tool with a small sharp icepick like end or a little drill/bit. After that everything went well. Except when I went to turn on the van and there was no power, found that a connector under the TPIM unit had come loose when I lifted it up. Make sure ALL connectors are tight and locked before putting the TPIM back on. Everything worked great after that. Thanks so much for this! Where do I send $$ :-) you saved me a mechanic trip and you also showed me what NOT to do haha ;-).
Had this same issue. Got real good at taking it apart and defrosting it. No help from Samsung so trashed it out for a new LG. Almost 2 years now and no issues. No more Samsung for us.
Yea I finally stopped the fan icing issue, but now it’s icing up elsewhere. About to have to defrost again. Good to know LG is an option. Hope to get rid of this sucker one day soon!!!
@davidmoeller17 yea, I was just looking at them today thinking I still needed to do that. Can’t remember what I bought though. Got a grease gun and everythibg
Correct, u shaped only for up and down window. I’d window slides sideways, they make special ac units for that. Or if you use a normal one, you’d have to find something to fit in the gap above the unit. Some people use plexiglass, but could use wood too.
@@fiveohmxcowe installed this on a slider window, filled the gap above with a wood framed piece of plexiglass. Just make sure sliding window opens wide enough to fit the unit.
In my experience, starter is the issue. For some reason, honda starters won't even click. Push button or key, no click. I change starters and no more issues. In my experience, you did right. Hopefully, your issue is solved. And yes, starters are pain to change in civic.
Worked good for me had about a half foot crack and chip...the trick I used was my wifes toy...as I put the resin in she was in the inside of the car and her her egg in a sock against the crack of the windshield. The vibrations from the sock egg vibrated the windshield enough so the resin would go into the crack. Then let it dry in the garage for two hours...then pulled it out in direct sun to let it bake for an hour..back in the garage let it cool down then scraped it you hardly can see it now...
Nice vid. I always leave the spring alone for a few mins to fully relax any remaining energy that might be left when lowering. Also a good idea to leave the strut when removing/installing a spring so when removing or installing, if it slips, you have somewhat a shield for the spring to hit before it flys out at you. Done this many times
Great tips. I think when I installed the springs like a decade ago I must’ve used a compressor. I was surprised at the lack of RU-vid guidance for this!
Hi, nope! Most of the weight is in the vertical direction, so the bottom of the window frame supports the weight well. There’s not a lot a of pull on the sliding window
Thanks for this video. I’m doing these LCAs, lowering springs, caster camber plates, and a bump steer kit on my 88 GT. Do you think it makes sense to start with removing the caliper, like you did here? I watched another video that where they don’t remove the caliper and it suggested separating the spindle from the control arm with a hammer. That seems…odd, especially since I’m doing it without a lift. I’m not sure what order to go in as far as removing the old control arm.
I always get paranoid with brake lines personally (breaking them). Plus it’s only a couple bolts to get the caliper off, so unless it’s beneficial somehow to keep them on, id recommend taking them off. That’s exciting! I need caster camber plates one day!
i have a 2019 honda civic sport touring & it has turbo and when i start it, it cranks for 2-3 seconds sometimes and sometimes it starts right away is that normal?
