On the newer units… does the plug for the reverse camera come with the unit when you purchase it? Or do you purchase it separately? If separate… care to share a link?
Appreciate the video. I ordered mine last week and can’t wait for it to show up. I needed more 2nd gen guys to sub so this was a great RU-vid recommendation for once😂
Yo- if you're interested, I have an entire sheet on my truck with every piece of info you might want or need. Always 5.5 qts, etc etc, but Pennzoil ultra platinum synthetic 5w30 has given me the best in reliability and mileage. Teardown was basically brand new at 75K. What do you think of the ARB? I am looking for a new rear bumper.
I noticed that when the unit it booted up it shows ZLINK trying to connect, I thought this used Car Link 2.0. Did you receive this through their website? I wonder if there is a difference between the joyingauto website and what is on Amazon. Can you confirm that your head unit does use ZLINK for Android Auto
So is it not possible to set up IFTTT to automatically have this launch Apple CarPlay when you get in the car and clear your cache when you disconnect so you don’t have those issues? Thanks
Hey man, would you let me know what version firmware you are running on your unit currently? My unit is working but the steering wheel buttons are not, my steering wheel mapping screen is different than yours in the video so that makes me think we have a different firmware version. I also ordered the factory backup camera harness in the link below. I opened the box, neither harness was labeled. neither harness is identical to the image online for factory backup harness, and neither harness is identical to yours. The one I originally guessed was the factory backup harness is the only one that actually has corresponding nodes to the hookups coming out of the truck for the headunit. Did your harness have a canbus decoder on it?
I know this is a late comment, but just ordered mine after watching all the videos on yours, how long did it take to ship to you so I have a general idea of when it will be here? Thanks!
I think mine took like 2.5 weeks. it definitely wasn't a quick amazon prime shipping situation! I hope you like it as much as I like mine!!! it's been a year and a half, and I love it still.
@@theduvaldummies Got it after only a week! And so far I’m loving it, got 2 10” subs aswell and the joying head unit sends plenty of power to it, plus I love RU-vid on it as I eat in my truck before work. Thanks for all the videos on it as I had been indecisive on what head unit to get. Thanks!
I just noticed that you have this unit. Same as mine in the 2014. How did the steering controls work? Play/pause Call Answer? Is your u it using Carlin’s 2.0 or something else? Thanks.
I cannot program the controls on my 2014. Joying provided a canbus decoder which is not user programmable. Shame is the call answer/hang up buttons don’t work and play/pause only works outside of the carlink app
@@theduvaldummies Thanks for replying/confirming. Joying is sending a new wiring harness and new 'brain' on a slow boat but this is not a hardware problem, its software. Since the play/pause works outside of Carlink, its not a hardware issue it's a software one. It's so hard to recommend units from companies who don't understand basic operation of the unit. I wish I could confidently try another "CarPlay" app but I don't know what I can safely install.
check out their website and you should be able to find a compatible unit. their customer service is decent through email. they take a few days to get back to you but they usually help out pretty good. thanks!
the music will continue to play as long as the Settings are correct. it comes from the factory with the music either off during reversing or it goes down to like level 2 or 3. Thanks!
Hey man that bezel that you took off of the digital clock/hazard piece where can I get one like that. Or can I buy the one you took off? I bought an android head unit for my 2010 tacoma but can’t install my digital clock/hazard into new unit without that bezel. I never kept the original radio when I first replaced it so I’m screwed
www.ebay.com/itm/116088624937?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=5fMeZTylRrC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=SYXjVenbS-O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY here is one I found for your truck on ebay. they aren't cheap but they are available. used they are about $115 and new from toyota they are about $350. I'm not selling mine just in case I need it again. #horder thanks!!
Very nice install. Did you install the unit or did Car Toys? I'm asking because i don't know how and I'm hoping they will. I'm installing in a 2008 Audi A3
I fully installed it myself. there is full installation of this unit, and the newer version they came out with in a different video on my channel. Thanks!
If you are plugged in it will work for apple or android and the screen will stay in the car play or android auto app. Or you can use bluetooth to connect wirelessly. The only time you need hotspot is when you are trying to run things like RU-vid or Netflix directly on the Joying unit.
I’m considering getting one. Now that you’ve had it for about a year, do you have any more thoughts on the performance of it? Mainly, does it glitch out a lot, or have issues connecting your phone? Would you still recommend it or is there another one you would consider looking at?
I love it. I just did the software update today so hopefully that will fix the connecting issue I was sometimes having. As far as glitches go, I haven't had anything happen. The connection issue only happens sometimes and when it does I just open my phones Bluetooth disconnect from the joying unit then reconnect it. Not to big of a deal for me. I 100% would recomend this. Check out the video we posted last week about the newset unit Joying has out. Its their Qualcom Snapdragon Software.
Great walk-through. I feel like I could get going pretty quickly without feeling lost. I will say, though, that there are other launchers you can use, if you don't like the stock one that doesn't let you change your homescreen. Nova is best, but there are lots out there.
It sticks out about an inch. After a few days you wont even notice it. If you send a DM on our instagram I would be more than happy to send you any pics you would like.
Great video, I am just awaiting delivery of this unit so I now have a good idea of how to configure it. Nice change to get someone showing a simple, yet detailed, review of this unit. I will watch again once my radio is delivered and fitted 😊👍
i was just fooling around with mine, just installed it. HOW do you use GPS antenna to navigate "maps"?? my maps only works via android auto, but i am sure there's a way to connect to available satellites, otherwise it wouldnt have a gps antenna! i'll prolly figure it out but it's time for bed *maybe of importance, my old JBL unit i pulled out of the Taco had a slot for a micro SD card.. that was required for off-line maps to work, but i cant find where that card would go on the Joying, unless it's behind the detachable screen?
Unfortunately you have to either get the Sim Card for it or run your phone on hotspot to use the maps by themselves. I always use android auto so its not an issue for me. That sim card goes into a card holder on the back of the brain of the head unit.
Hows the rc lift doing?? I almost saved a lot of money and got their 3.5inch kit. But I told myself a long time ago when I redid the suspension it was gonna Dobinson.
@@theduvaldummies I’ve honestly had zero issues with it. I will say the travel in the suspension is close to stock if not a little less than stock so that kinda sucks but… 🤷🏼♂️
Great vid, quick question. Are you able to view your reverse camera through the headunit's interface without having to put the truck into reverse? To use it as a rearview of sorts?
I just picked up a head unit, just received my replacement with a new wiring harness and can box. I cannot program the steering wheel controls. They work as is (mostly) but there is no customization. When I go to the screen in your video, it appears as though no buttons are programmed. When I press a button (like volume up) it just turns up the volume. If I then tap a function on the screen, nothing is changed/updated/saved. It's as if this software wasn't designed to work with the can bus boxes they are sending me. Just wondering if there was another trick, getting support from joying has been really slow and rough with the language barrier. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I should add, I have a 2014 Tacoma with factory backup camera. The camera is working as well as the usb port. I did have to use their microphone, other than that all functions working.
@hurtingdirt I did a quick search for CANBUS (I literally had never heard of that before, so thank you for that!) I found this on Tacomaworld.com "For others that may come across that thread. I have successfully mapped the steering wheel controls of my 2012 TRD to an ATOTO SA102 starter using the ground, SW+ and SW# wires on the radio harness to pin 6-7-8 (respectively) on the 20 pin connector of the car. After pairing the keys in the radio interface, everything works fine without any additional control box." NOW, I do not know anything about this, so I take no responsibility on what that Tacomaworld.com post said to do. But unfortunately that's the best answer I can give you. Let me know how it goes! Thanks for watching and getting involved!
When I first installed mine it did the same thing, I took it all back apart and found that one or two of the clips had not connected fully. give that a shot and let me knownhow it goes! Thanks!!!
Thanks for your responses. I ultimately returned the unit for another fault. As for the steering controls, I was advised by Joying that the 2014 Tacoma with Canbus Decoder was NOT programmable. It was locked into som sort of default programming. Overall my experience with Joying was not good. The entire transaction from start to refund took over two months and at no time did I have a fully functional head unit (until I put my factory one back in place :) ) Thanks again everyone, this info may prove helpful if I decide to try a different radio, perhaps Desaita or Aucar. In truth, I'm thinking these radios are kinda junk ( I had two and both had problems ) and the support experience is terrible. Rant over. Thanks again!
Ive had my Joying 10.1 screen (with a volume knob) in my Sequioa for a week. It works well and looks great. I have not connected it to the cellular with a SIM card yet. It is mainly my wife's car. She uses CarPlay, wireless and wired. While listening to Spotify with CarPlay the unit will switch to the radio on its own. Seems to happen every 10 minutes or so. If I can not figure this out I may have to return it.
Does it do it both connected and wireless through Bluetooth? Email Joying directly about it, they take a long time to reply and there is a small language barrier, but get the ball rolling by asking them if it's a software issue and how it can be fixed. Then if sending it back, you have already developed a relationship with the person, and they can help you quicker. Their customer service is slow, but good. Please let me know what you come up with!
They just released a new universal single den 10 inch screen with new software. They just sent it to me to make some videos on. As soon as it cools down here in NE Florida I'm gonna install it in my buddys Tacoma and make the install and setting videos. So be looking for that! Thanks for watching and getting involved!
@@theduvaldummies ok I sure will I have a 2014 Ford F150 that I am trying to get one for, I have syn1 the little 4” screen I want a bigger one with wireless CarPlay and navigation on it! But yes I will watch 🏡🙏🦌💒✝️✅🤠
Hey man, thanks for the videos! Convinced me to buy one. Hows the factory backup working still? Also did you hardwire the mic in? I think I'll need to do that
Back up camera is still working perfectly. I used their mic the provided. Thanks for watching and getting involved, and I hope you are loving the unit!
