Can you read Spanish? If you can what are book 1 and 2 of Rada Like?

Unfortunately I'm not able to read the original books properly. That's why I'm working with the english translation of book 3 and Sebastien Romagnan's book and of course with the help of Maestro Ton Puey. Book 1 focuses on the science (philosophy, geometry...) and book 2 on the art (there are many descriptions and for example a glossary for specific terms).

So, I decided to hammer the Generales with my students. Every time I teach is with application in sparring and we explore all the possible reactions and defenses that could be executed as well under pressure and at fast speed. What we found so far was that trying to execute the first two reglas, sets up the receiving party to offer a tajo or revés and rarely the first two reglas were fully executed during realistic sparring. I will update on the others as I have more findings. As I always tell my students, most principles look good when practicing slowly but in fast application, it’s a matter of chance and opportunity as many factors come into play.

Hey there, I really like the quality and music of the video, just wanted to add some notes in case they are anywhat helpfull. I've only practiced Destreza for a few years so I'm no expert at all, but I think I can help with some basics. I would recommend focusing more on the notion that you are handling sharp-cutting weapons. Destreza puts great effort on the defense aspect of it. Wounding the opponent is a result of a good defense, thus, defense is the first and top priority. There are plenty of times when both parcipants of the video neglected defense in favor of trying to wound the opponent with fancy moves, wich resulted in them both getting wounded or leaving a big open, that's a big nono. As a tool for this, the "Atajo" is your main friend as it will allow you to attack safely while being defended. You can try various techniques from it and there are various "Atajos" so different techniques expand from each one of them. "Acometimiento perfecto" and "Cuarto de círculo" are the easiest ones that are born from the first "Atajo". In general, being in touch with the opponent's blade as you attack is great If you want to be safe. Hope this finds you good and that you kept with the path of the great Maestro Francisco Lorenç de Rada. Greetings from Spain.

Hello and thank you for your very constructive comment and feedback. Honestly, I totally agree with you. I think we did a great progress over the last two years so far and I hope we reached another level of fencing until today. But our way will continue for sure. With the help of Maestro Ton Puey and great Diestros like Sébastien Romagnan we are able to work on our weaknesses, which we obviously have. Nowadays we focus much on gaining control in combination with a calm mindset instead of hitting. We had a very good lecture about this, which we consider very important and implemented it in our training. 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mipkaid-J2Q.html Furthermore any help is appreciated. Thank you very much! 👍

@@academiadaespadadeutschland Gosh, I'm embarassed that I commented what I did without looking more into the channel. Now that I've done so It's obvious that I had nothing to teach you, I'm sorry. You've accomplished a lot in this years. As a fellow practicioner I can't but congratulate you on your work and dedication knowing the effort Destreza demmands. Maestro Ton Puey allways has great insight but I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Sébastien Romagnan I'll check the lecture right away, thank you. Hoping to see you in next events so we can learn from eachother and share some drinks after. First round is on me. Cheers.

Your Weak Over.. and Weak Under... seem to be missing one important aspect which is that the point of contact should transfer to your Weak at the end of the spiral, such that your blade comes to a stop while your opponent's blade is far off line. From there you move your tip in the opposite direction around their quillons to strike. In your version, you continue your blade moving after the spiral in the same direction. I think this only works in your demo because your opponent helpfully moves their guard far out of the way. ... The other techniques look great though.
@bryancole1886
@bryancole1886 2 года назад
A really nice talk. Would love to hear from other diestros what techniques they employ against opponents who rely on their off-hand for defence (low guard, blade grabbing etc.). I really liked the distilled 7 methods for controlling the primary plane.

There might be connections between spanish and philippine Martial Arts. In case of Destreza I know of a masters certification from 1730, where Domingo Pérez de Aguilar, a newly-created fencing master from Manila in the Philippines was proven by the Maestro Mayor in Mexico City.

wui they only chop they rapiers, doesnt em now long pointi sword made for thrust? pur fencing and too many cringes, less wawe your blades in air more do stuff against each other. Both fighters seems quite opened for modern-style attacks based on quick sliding-step footwork Yuo guys stuck in 2014, for that time this OK, not for 2020

Infos findest Du in diesem Blogartikel: www.cuadratura-del-circulo.de/post/ma%C3%9Fe-von-rapier-und-dolch-nach-francisco-lorenz-de-rada
